Besides the vomit-inducing smell surrounding it, the house that Skiske was currently hiding in resembled a normal-looking house on the outside. The inside was a totally different story.
Broken glass littered everywhere on the floor. With no source of light except for the small amount of natural sunlight. Blood and other liquids stained the walls as the halls lead in a winding path towards where the center of the house was.
There Skiske sat huddled behind a table, his shoulders shook as he recounted the glare the black-cloaked person gave him. That man was there to kill him. Skiske had usually been the one who could leisurely hunt his opponent, but now his boss was dead. His support was nonexistent and his enemies grew bigger and stronger by the day.
Skiske's hand instinctively reached for a few vials of poison sitting on the wooden table. These were his life's work, his boss wanted to use these for the ripper gang's leader Lilliana Lightheart. It had taken him a few years just to get the materials alone. A poison that could kill even a high-ranked warrior or mage with just a single touch. Skiske's eyes narrowed as he thought about how he would have to use such a precious item like this.
Perhaps he didn't need to even prepare it. The traps that he placed in his house might be able to take care of the black-cloaked figure.
Suddenly the entire ground gave a light tremble and a low roar like a lion could be heard rumbling in the distance. Skiske quickly looked up grabbing the vial of potion securely making sure not to spill it. He looked up and yelled at one of the few men standing at the door.
It was a former rippers enforcer that his boss had given him. Most normal gang members would run far away when they saw what laid behind Skiske's poisons. But this man was addicted to a certain type of drug that Skiske had made when he was experimenting with the neuron responses of the human brain. Skiske now just simply played around with him, using him for whatever he wanted.
"go and check out that sound" Skiske said spitting at the man's feet which were shackled together with chains. The man stood rigid with eyes that gave no sign of emotion, he only moved when he heard Skiske's words. He walked off towards where the sound. While Skiske grumbled at how useless he was, Skiske nervously rubbed the vial of dark red and sickly green poison in his hand. His skinny arms shaking like twigs in the wind and his formerly arrogant and haughty face, pale and scared.
The sound of a loud BOOM made Skiske jump up to his feet.
"what was that?" Skiske asked himself. He had no windows to look outside of since the room he was in was reinforced with plenty of protective materials.
Skiske backed up till his back hit the wall. Was the black-cloaked figure back? He nervously fumbled with the vials and potions in his hands as the loud BOOMS could be heard all around the room he was in.
The sound got louder and louder as if it was getting closer to Skiske. Skiske clutched his ears. Not like this! he still had to take over the rippers gang! the city!
A null in the loud BOOMS gave Skiske a small bit of respite. Perhaps that woman who he had been in contact with came to save him. Or maybe even another executive of the gang after all his boss did have a few connections.
Skiske nodded to himself.
"Yeah, that must be it" further convincing himself as he looked at his shaking hands.
"ahaha! that black-cloaked person must have been an idiot trying to go against the great me! He must have heard of what happens to those who have resisted against me, hahahaha his fate was the same!"
The small creak of the door was heard the moment Skiske was celebrating his victory. Skiske turned around expecting to see either his savior or one of his men.
"ah! Welcome, you must be the one who saved me....."
The black-cloaked figure peeked through the door. The eyes hidden underneath them giving Skiske a shiver that went down his spine and released somewhere at the waist.
Skiske let out sounds of disbelief.
"wha... you.... how are you here?! HOW?"
The black-cloaked figure gave no answer. Instead, the black-cloaked figure pulled out what seemed to be a black ball with a small rope at the end.
From the black-cloaked figure's other hand was a small cylindrical object that when flicked multiple times revealed a small flame. Skiske watched frozen in horror as the black-cloaked figure lit the rope on the end of the black ball.
Jason tossed the bomb into the room walked away.
The familiar explosion Jason had heard a few dozen times rocked the room and soon smoke started to pour out of the single room that was still standing in the house.
[you have defeated (Skiske the envious)]
[level up!]
[level up!]
[you are now level 92]
[Jack has gained control of Skiske's territory]
[Jack's production talent has been raised]
[the title (bombardier) has been granted]
[(bombardier)]
[effects: when active explosions deal 30% more damage and have a slight chance of firing off in smaller explosive clusters]
[you have gained the (poison making) skill book]
Jason stepped through the smoking pile of rubble that was once Skiske's house.
The only thing that stood tall was the single room where Skiske had hidden in. It seemed to be made out of protective materials that were blast-resistant most likely because it was where he did his experiments.
Jason made a mental note to ask Jack to send a group of people to check out exactly what material it was made out of. Jason would have loved to loot Skiske's body but since his body was definitely incinerated the items most likely were too. Information about loot and item drops was something Boops had heavily focused on and Jason was starting to get a grasp on how they worked.
Loot was simply the items that didn't dissipate into the blue flakes. Such as the weapon they were holding or a special part of their body like the hide of a rabbit. Occasionally though skill books and other special items could be generated depending on the monster or person's experience or skills for instance, if a player were to defeat an enemy assassin and the assassin had lucky dropped a skill book at his death. The skill book would be one of the skills that the assassin had such as back stab or poison blade.
The undead that Jason had farmed a while ago at the Intelligence trial at the rose knight training center seemed to hold the experiences of many different people giving him lots of new skills.
The only other ways to get a skill book was to buy one at a shop, get them off a player, or in the rarest scenario. The system or G.A.I.A gave you one.
Usually G.A.I.A only gave titles and notifications that reported useful information. Only a few recorded times could be seen of G.A.I.A giving a skill to a player. It was still a mystery why the A.I had chosen to do so. Leading to lots of discussion from the players.
Jason was also curious since he had gotten a skill from G.A.I.A after defeating Heheegaboo. It was called (whirlwind) and he had yet to use it since he had kinda forgotten about it until now.
Perhaps Jason would try it out in the next fight.
He also had the poison skill book that he just got.
Saying that to himself Jason stood up and looked around. The smoking ruins of the house made him give off a small grin.
Boops jumped in
'did you really have to blow up the entire house?'
"yes absolutely," Jason said "besides," he said turning his head to look at a few blue flakes rising to the sky. A single chain that was used to bind a person's feet lay on the ground underneath the blue flakes.
"I think that guy really needed it"
That person was no match for Jason. Just a few slashes sent him to his knees. But at the end witnessing Jason's destructive capabilities the person had pointed towards Skiske's room.
Jason turned around and walked off a few feet before stopping. He turned back and gave a small bow to the blue flakes that were rising to the skies. It was a mercy kill at the end. Jason had seen those eyes once before....
Jason turned around and walked away it was still bright and sunny and the sun shone down on the smoking ruins of the house as the dark alleyways slowly enclosed Jason.
A sudden thought came to Jason as he walked down the alleyways.
"wait a sec.... do you think we can loot the warehouse that Skiske keeps his potions"
Boops let out a surprised laugh
'huh, well.... yeah.. I guess we can?'
The excited expression returned to Jason's face and soon he was dashing off towards another location.
