Time To Let Go

It's been one week since the opening of the new school year. For that one week Rosie's parents didn't leave their house, his father also didn't go to office instead he work at home. Every night Rosie's mother will sing a lullaby for her until she falls asleep. Most of the time her mother will sing her favorite song "Wuji".

Today is the 7th night in which her mother will sing for her.

"Mom can you sing the song 'Bu Wang/ Won't Forget' today." Rosie requested as she hug her mom.

As her mother continue to sing, Rosie's hand that hug her mom's body started to tightened.

"It is the first time that you have still been awake until I finish the song Rosie. For the past days before I finish one song you have been sleeping soundly, hahaha." Mrs. Stefanie said, sensing that Rosie was still awake she wanted to tease her a little bit but to her surprise Rosie didn't respond to her after a few minutes have passed even though it is clear that she's not yet sleeping.

Instead of saying something Rosie's shoulder started to shake involuntarily. When her mom move to look at her face what greeted her was

Rosie's bloodshot eyes. Little did she know that Rosie has been crying the whole time while listening to her mom's voice.

With a worried look, Mrs. Stefanie started wiping the tears that roll down into Rosie's face. "What happened Rosie? Are you sick? Did something bad happen at school?"

"Mom... Mom... Mom" For a long time Rosie keep calling her mom while crying without saying anything.

"Yes, I'm here Rosie. What's the problem? You can tell me anything okay?" Mrs. Stefanie said anxiously.

After a moment of silence, Rosie summon all her courage to speak up.

"Mom... I.. I know it all.. I knew everything... that everything that happened from the moment you tried to wake me up to go to school up until now, all of it was just a dream. Even this moment is only a part of my dream. A happy yet a sad dream." Tears kept on rushing down her eyes, just like a waterfall that never stop on flowing.

Hearing this Mrs. Stefanie's expression change, her hand that was stroking Rosie's back froze for a while before she let out a gentle smile.

"How did you know? I thought you would never know or it might take a long time before you notice."

"Well I read it before that sometimes, the eye would record what a person sees before they die, well I guessed it's really true." Rosie try to calm herself before she continue, "At first I didn't notice anything and believe this is reality not until I saw Dad's eyes, I thought I was just mistaken so I stare at his eyes again what surprised me is that I didn't my own reflection no matter how long and how many times I look into it. What I always saw is a woman hugging a girl, I believe it was you mom hugging me when we got in the accident, that's what the doctor told me, the reason why I only got injured a little because you use your body to cover and protect me."

"So that's how you know, see your indeed a smart kid Rosie. To noticed such detail means your quiet observant. I didn't expect to be caught this way. Just like the saying, it is really true that a person's eyes don't lie no matter if your dead or alive. You already knew everything but you chose not to say anything." Even though Mrs. Stefanie was complimenting Rosie still there's a hint if sadness in her eyes.

"It's because I wanted to spend more time with you and Dad even if it was only in my dreams. But I realized that I should let both of you go so that you'll be able to rest in peace. I know you purposely visit me in my dreams to help me and convinced me to move on and continue living that's why during this entire dream of mine, I only have happy and good experiences because you want me to realized wow happy it is to be able to live longer and how lucky I to be able to enjoy the perks of life. Don't worry Mom, I will try my best to live a good life so that you won't need to worry about me. I believe that when the time comes I will be fine on my own. Just like the song "Bu Wang/ Won't Forget" I will never forget you and Dad, I will cherish all our memories and engrave it in my heart. I will also remember this moment, this is the happiest dream I have. Let's meet again someday Mom when the time is right I'll come to you. For now I know that we need to let go and say good bye to each other. I love you both Mom and I'll always do."

Tears continue to run down through Rosie's eyes as she slowly opened her eyes. Sitting at her bed and looking at her reflection in the mirror, her bloodshot eyes were still visible, her face was so wet from crying and as she look further in her body, bruises and scars appears everywhere just like how it used to be when she got injured from the car accident.

Rosie let out a bitter smile, "Indeed it was only just a dream, a beautiful yet sad dream but also the longest and happiest dream I ever had."

Truth really hurts but she needs to accept and overcome it, now that her parent's were already gone, she needed to survive somehow and accept the reality.
