Let Me Sing You A Lullaby

"Rosie, it's time to wake up my dear. It's your first day at school, you're going to be late if you don't wake up now." Mrs. Stefanie said as she gently patted Rosie's back trying to wake her up.

"5 more minutes Mom, just give me additional 5 minutes then I'll wake up on my own" Rosie said half awake but after a few minutes she realized something. She immediately wake up, her eyes wide open, slowly she turn around to see the person sitting beside her bed. What greeted her was perfectly looking mother, no bruises, no injury, her mother looks fine just like how she normally look.

Still in the state of shock she started to stammer "Mo.... Mom is that really you? Am I dreaming?"

Mrs. Stefanie stares at Rosie with a confused look on her face "What are you talking about Rosie? Are you not fully awake yet? Of course it's me, who am I supposed to be if I'm not your mother."

"Then why you don't have any wounds? Don't you remember we got into a car accident and you injured your arm?" Rosie asked anxiously.

"Well I think you're still dreaming my daughter. How on earth do we get into a car accident if we didn't even leave our house." Mrs. Stefanie laugh a little, she can't believed how absurd Rosie was talking about this early morning.

Strange as it is, Rosie felt that something was wrong, accidentally she saw her reflection in the mirror across them when she tilted her head.

She then again rounded her eyes with shock, what she saw in the mirror was a perfectly looking Rosie, just like her Mom she doesn't have any bruises nor any marks indicating that she have been injured, her bloodshot eyes were gone too and her complexion looks really good. Something that can be seen on any person who got a goodnight sleep.

She thought to herself 'Was it just really a dream? Did everything that happened and what I remember only happened in my dreams?"

No matter how she think everything seems realistic, their accident and all but now she is currently looking at her Mom. Even though she's not sure whether what is real between the two different situation, she's just happy that her parents are now alive and they were still together. If everything that's happening now were only just a dream she didn't mind not waking up. She will prefer to stay in this happy dream forever rather than to live in that harsh and lonely reality.

"Mom I miss you so much" she then hugged her Mom tightly like they didn't see each other for a long time.

"We just saw each other last night so why are you acting like we've been separated for years" Mrs. Rosie said jokingly.

"Nothing I just miss you so much Mom. I... I" Rosie started crying before she can continue her sentence "I love you Mom, both you and Dad I really really love you two. Please don't ever leave me alone."

"Hushhh, why are you crying? We won't never leave you okay? You still need to go to school since it's your first day so you must stop crying" Mrs. Stefanie said while caressing Rosie's back.

"Can I not go to school today?" Rosie ask, afraid that if she went away her parents will be gone once she came back from school.

As if Mrs. Stefanie knows what she was thinking, she smiled and comforted her "Alright, we won't go anywhere else. If you want I will also tell your Dad not to work in the office today and just stay at home. You can't be absent today since it's the first day of school. Didn't you say you will study hard because you've got an inspiration. I thought you wanted to be the best version of yourself in order to face him confidently."

Rosie surrender in the end, she indeed said that before, even though she was reluctant to leave but she still needed to go to school. If their accident was really a dream and this is the real world it was more than enough reason for her to go to school.

After eating breakfast Rosie was still reluctant to leave their house but she had to so she reminded her parents again. "Mom , Dad don't forget to keep your promise okay? Please stay here in our house even just for today. I'll head home immediately after our class"

"Don't worry Rosie we'll just stay here, just enjoy your day and take care of yourself." Mrs. Stefanie assured her.

After that Rosie bid her goodbye and went to her school.

...

After 8 hours of classes Rosie immediately head back home. While she was in school a while ago, she didn't noticed anything out of ordinary. Just like last school year her classmates remains the same. Lienne and her talked about the progress of her relationship with Jackson. She's the only one who knew about her parents death so she thought maybe that accident just really happen in her dreams.

When she reach their house, she saw her parents preparing snacks for her. She immediately rush inside and give them a warm hug.

"How was your day my dear?" Mrs. Stefanie ask her.

"Well still the same as before, since our first day we don't do much. Just some introduction and reminders for the things we need for our lessons." Rosie said while still clinging on he mom's body.

"Well I think you should change your clothes first so we can eat our snacks together after that." Mrs. Stefanie said.

Then Rosie went upstairs to change her clothes.

...

Dinner time had passed, now Rosie was preparing to go to bed when her mother suddenly knock on her door.

"Rosie are asleep? May I come in for a second?"

"Sure Mom, go ahead it's not locked anyway." Rosie responded.

After a short while Mrs. Stefanie went inside her room.

"Well I just remember, when you were still a child I always sang a lullaby for you so I was wondering if you wanted to hear me sing again... No.. what I want to say is let me sing a lullaby for you, is that okay?"

Hearing her Mom's words a sense of comfort suddenly build within her at the same time she felt as if someone prick her heart with a needle, she wanted to cry in this moment but she tried her best to hold it out.

"Sure Mom, I always wanted to hear you sing again. Today is my chance so I will not waste it."

After that Mrs. Stefanie lay beside her and cares her head gently and started singing a song until Rosie finally fell asleep.
