Peter went home and was thinking of the ways he would use this money. He planned to rent a building, where he would be able to test his utilities and invent new gadgets. However, in the afternoon of the next day, he saw something...
It was Daily Bugle's weekly newspaper, Peter was shocked by the main title - "Spider-Man is the impudent impostor". One of the main articles was about Spider-Man and it was written that he was very dangerous and was judging criminals by himself instead of letting the police do their job. Peter was angry, he knew that this needed to be stopped as soon as possible because more and more people would start considering Spider-Man a villain, rather than a hero.
Peter knew that people's opinions were very important and that he needed to improve an image of his alter ego. He decided to negotiate with Jameson when he would bring the new photos.
After a few days, Peter went to Daily Bugle's main office and entered Jameson's cabinet. He looked happy and was talking to his sales manager, but then he saw Peter and his face acquired a completely different look.
"Give the photos and get out! Betty will give you the payment" he said loudly.
"Mr. Jameson, I wanted to ask something about the Spider-Man article..."
"This is not your business! Just give me your damn photos".
"I want to become the editor of the news block about Spider-Man".
"HAHAHAHAHA" Jameson started laughing. "You really think I would allow someone of your level to write one of our main blocks?"
"If you want your newspaper to have exclusive content, you have to agree"
"Are you blackmailing me? You know what, I have had enough. TAKE YOUR FUCKING PAYMENT AND GET OUT!"
Peter was on his way to leave the room...
"Also, your crap photos did not help us at all! Our sales did not increase and we just wasted lost of money on a mediocrity like you!" Jameson continued.
Peter could not believe the fact that their weekly newspaper was not sold out. He went to Betty to take his percentage of the sales. She gave him 8250$ of bonuses, Peter was confused as he did not expect this much money to be only 0.5% of total sales revenue. He fastly made some calculations in his head. He knew that a newspaper would cost around 1.5$ and found out that Daily Bugle must have sold around 1 100 000 copies this week, which was almost as much as their previous month sales put together. He understood that Jameson was lying and went back to his cabinet.
'You lied!" he said confidently after opening the door.
"No, I didn't. You are truly a mediocrity! Now close the door and leave!"
"You lied about the sales, you had a sold-out".
"What told this to you?"
"Nobody. Seems like you forgot that I can calculate how many copies you sold using my 0.5% bonus"
"This is not your merit! We could have done that without your useless photos easily!"
"You will not even get to half of a million copies sold next week if you do not get the new photos".
"HAHAHA! You did not contribute to this week's success at all, it was all because of my brilliant managerial skills! Am I right?".
"Yes... of course!" the sales manager said awkwardly.
"Let's have a bet then. If you get more than half a million copies sold next week I will bring you 30 photos of Spider-Man for free, but if I win, you are going to fulfill all of my additional requirements"
Peter knew that Jameson would agree even though he was not sure in his victory, as he has always been the type of person who never retreated.
"HAH. This will be the easiest win in my life, do not forget to bring the photos next week!"
(A week after)
Peter came back and entered Jameson's office room. He was confident in his victory, as he made a research about Daily Bugle and found out they were experiencing a serious decline in sales due to a high level of competitiveness.
Jameson looked frustrated.
"You are officially the luckiest bastard I have ever met, we sold 460 000 copies"
Peter felt like a weight was removed from his shoulders when he heard this.
"But I am a man of my words, what are your requirements?" he said reluctantly.
"As I said, I want to be completely responsible for the news block about Spider-Man. I will send the text and photos to you directly. I do not need the additional payment for this and your articles will still be exclusive".
"Better than I expected. DEAL!" he said in a raised tone.
Peter was incredibly happy as he could create his own image of Spider-Man for the readers. So that citizens would view him as a friendly neighbourhood hero and would have a positive impression about him. Peter needed a positive attitude from the public for his future plan...

Hello dear readers, I hope you all are doing well during this difficult time! At least, we have more time to rewatch Spider-Man movies and the great 1994 series. I just wanted to answer some questions regarding Peter's potential sources of money. Many of you were asking why did he go to work for Daily Bugle instead of finding criminals like drug dealers and stealing their money. There are several reasons for that:
First of all, we should all remember that facing drug dealers and other criminals that have lots of money can be very dangerous for Spider-Man in the long term. Even if he beats everyone and steals the money, the hunt on him will begin. This is because of the fact that all of the organized crime in New-York obeys to Wilson Fisk, better known as Kingpin. He is one of the most influential people in the city and has large financial resources.
Moreover, he is exceptionally smart and physically strong. So, it will be very difficult to beat him even with all of Peter's knowledge. That is why, he decided to work for Daily Bugle as it is not very time-consuming, provides him with lots of money, and most importantly - allows him to control Spider-Man's image.
Overall, I wanted to thank all of you! It's been only 8 days since I started this fan-fiction and it has already reached incredible results in my opinion. I cannot describe my happiness in words. There is only one thing I can definitely say - I will do my best to keep the level of the fan-fic high and upload chapters regularly. Mark my words, this will be the best Spider-Man fan-fiction you have ever read! I have lots of plans for future chapters and this is only the beginning of a great adventure! I will put my soul into this fan-fic! Thanks again to all of you! You are fucking incredible and are truly the best! Good luck and have a good day!
Ken
