Broken Hearts

Rain poured outside of the cave as darkness continued to consume what lay beyond their immediate surroundings. The only sound apparent in the air was the crackling of a flame that continued to burn and the pounding of the storm showers over the cave's rooftop.

It was supposed to be uncomfortable.

And yet that wasn't what Chan Lee felt—the ground wasn't as soft as her bed but the atmosphere around them and the dull sounds were a lull hymn in their own way. She took in the fragrance of roasted game, and despite being initially skeptical of eating anything that the Huli Jing had prepared, she still accepted the skewered meat.

The fox spirit was right about the need to stay for quite awhile, the storm continued their outpour from the heavens and she could only wish that her friends wouldn't worry too much.

Although that probably wasn't the truth of the matter.
