Chapter 7

When I'd walked my way to my classes, I'd noticed everyone was talking about me.

I'd get a few side glances and people whispered to their friends when I'd walked past them.

What was happening?

What did I do wrong?

I'd thought as I'd walked towards my locker.

My other two friends were surrounding my locker, gossiping.

When they'd noticed me, they'd stopped talking.

"Hey." I'd said as I'd opened my locker.

"Hi." One of them, Caroline said.

"Hey." The other, Melisa replied.

"So, do you guys know why the entire school is talking about me?" I'd asked them.

They'd looked at each other and hesitated before Caroline spoke up.

"Yes, it's about your missing cousin." She's replied.

I'd slammed my locker shut when I'd heard that.

"The whole school knows about it?" I'd asked.

Melisa nodded.

"Yeah, and your pretty popular. Like everyone is gossiping about you." Caroline added.

"I don't care, I just hope Owen is okay." I'd said.

They'd just stared at me blankly.

The bell rang and I'd quickly rushed to my first period class.

I couldn't focus that day.

I'd was confused and worried.

I'd couldn't pay attention in school at all.

It was hectic.

When I'd went home, I'd asked my mom, who was home from work, if she'd heard anything about Owen.

"Well, they'd searched the entire area but, they couldn't find him." Mom answered.

I'd stiffened.

"That means that he ran away from here." I'd said, conservatively.

Mom nodded in a doleful way.

The news was too much for me.

It was all astonishing.

"He can be out there, consuming on blood, and he doesn't even know about it." I'd stated, frantically.

Mom went silent.

After a few moments later, she'd spoke.

"We can't do anything about it. He is a vampire after all."
