Ch.54 Bonding

Zack and I watched as the beautiful wings of the tribes took off and headed for their islands. Before long it was just us standing on the beach. He stood next to me silent.

"I am sorry for forcing you into this, Zack."

"What? No, you didn't."

"Are we freaks to you?"

"No. Myira I- I don't know how to tell you this, nevermind, I will tell you later, when we're not half naked." he laughed.

I looked down, I forgot the only thing I had on was his shirt. I blushed, "Yeah we should head back to my apartment." I said laughing while walking forward.

I felt something warm around my hand, it was Zack's hand. I felt butterflies grow over me and I squeezed his hand tightly. We walked together back to my apartment. Once we were there Zack let go of my hand and I opened the door and walked in.

"I will be right back." I said heading to my room to change.

"Okay."

I closed the door to my room and smiled. 'How can a human be so adorable?' I asked myself. As I changed into new clothes I thought of everything that happened, it all went by so quickly. When I was done I grabbed Zack's shirt that I had set on my dresser I happened to look in the mirror. 'The necklace!' I felt the choker and smiled. "You are forever with me." I whispered. I turned walking back towards the door and opening it, Zack was seated on the couch looking out the glass sliding door that lead to the backyard. I walked over and sat next to him.

"Here is your shirt." I said plopping the shirt in his lap.

"Thanks." he said in a laughing tone.

After he put his shirt back on I had to ask him something, something that I wanted to ask him the first night we met but never did.

"Zack?" I began.

"Yeah?"

"I have been meaning to ask you this for a while but, how did you father's boat crash?"

He looked at men blankly. "Well, we were trying to get back to shore, but the motor kept failing. The waves were too much for the little thing and it began rocking to the point where it could tip. So my father, being the impatient person he was decided to try and start the engine again." he paused a moment, "The boat rocked harder and harder until a giant wave flipped the boat. I knew to swim but I couldn't for very long. Somehow my dad managed to flip the boat and got me back into it. While the boat was rocking I tried to pull my dad back into the boat but the waves kept coming. He held onto the side of the boat but the rocking made it almost impossible. I held onto his hands and I remember him saying "Papa loves you." and another wave crashed over the boat but it didn't flip this time. I remember looking around for him he was nowhere to be found. The waves ended up taking the boat to shore where it crashed."

I looked at him, sadness grew on his face. "What was your father's name?"

His eyes grew with slight tears but he managed to blink them away. "Blake." he paused, "Blake Clyde." he said looking away from me and at the wall towards the door.

I scooted closer to him and put my hand on his shoulder and leaned my head against him. "I am sorry. I- I know this is a sensitive topic for you."

"No, its ok. Its just, I have really talked about him since his funeral." he turned his head towards me.

"Oh." I said moving away from him. 'what am I doing? He is a human!' I asked myself. We sat in silence for a bit.

"So what were you going to tell me on the beach?" I asked him.

"What do you mean." he said as his face turned red.

"You said you would tell me after we got changed."

"Oh, well, I- I am going to have to tell you later."

"And how long is 'later'?"

"Later." he smirked.

I smiled. I never seen him so happy.

"Would you like to come over for supper?" he asked me.

I looked at him and smiled even more. "Sure!"

"Okay."
