Apart from the white eyes without pupils, there was no change in Aiden's body. It was the same thing for others, too. They were all gathered together and followed Enric.
There were no words spoken between them, but they were quick to follow him. The howls and screams grew louder as they progressed. They soon reached the place where humans were still fighting with the beasts.
They looked at the place with their white eyes, but the colour of their eyes began to change. There was a crimson tinge inside the white, and it grew deeper.
Soon their eyes were burning like a crimson flame in the darkness of night. And crimson, worm-like veins were spreading from their eyes to their faces.
Neither Aiden nor the other could see that those humans who were fighting were in similar situations as well. Even Enric was the same as them, too. And they charged towards the beast.
No voice inside his head explained the name or characteristics of the beast. Nor was there any red outline that could identify the shadow jaguar that appeared from behind him, but crimson-eyed Aiden was still able to cut it in half.
It wasn't that beast, as the party of six progressed, anything that had entered their path had been killed. Aiden's blade, Lyla's flame combat, and Enric's swordsmanship were frightening in melee.
While Asher's [Fireball] and Elijah's [Wind Blade] and the [Wind Bomb] was taking care of everything they missed. And there was Saya in the middle of the formation. As soon as a small wound appeared on any of their bodies, she was quick to heal them.
It's not just them. A lot more crimson-eyed groups were fighting like them. They might not be as effective as Aiden's group was, but they were still able to do their job.
There was no one like Sara in the other team, but it was amazing to see that as soon as one of them was injured the other from the back soon replaced them.
The number of the beast was infinite, and they had been fighting for a long time. The casualty had already piled up. But the matter got worse when a new monster entered the field.
*Crash*
One action from its tail and tens of the crimson-eyed men was sent flying in the air. It was clad with sapphire scales, which was glowing in this heavy darkness. And there were two horns in its skull that made it look more fearsome.
What was surprising was its jaw. Even if the whole body looked like a snake, it had a thick beak at the end of its jaw with multiple rows of teeth inside it. Even if the ESS could respond, it would be unable to identify the A-graded beast. And Aiden wasn't in the situation where he could name it.
*Ahhhhhhhhh*
Even Aiden would have had a hard time believing that he could make such a battle cry. But it was able to draw the attention of his enemy. Those vertical eyes turned towards Aiden as it slithered towards him.
On the other hand, the whole formation moved as one. Whatever was between them, the snake sent them flying with its thick tail. As soon as they reached its range of attack…
*Slam*
The thick tail forced them to break their formation. Aiden Jumped to his left and Lyla to her right, yet both of them charged at the beast from a different direction.
*Crreeeeee*
The blade could only leave a scratch on the sapphire scale, while the [Fire Fist] could not even leave a mark. Yet the snake was furious. The tail of the beast sent Lyla to fly as the beak of the snake attacked Aiden.
Aiden was fast with 50 in his agility but the snake was quicker. Had Enric not last attacked the beast, it would have succeeded.
Yet Enric had to pay the price. After crashing with the serpent's head he was forced to cough some blood as he landed on the ground.
In the next moment, Sara appeared near him, covering him with a veil of blue light. The wound began healing at a noticeable pace as he rushed toward the snake again.
However, it was hopeless. No matter how much they attacked, the scales of the beast could not be broken. Elijah [Wind Arrow] and Asher [Fire Lance], none of them were effective. It did, however, draw the attention of the beast to them.
It opened its mouth, and the purple liquid sprinkled from underneath its flickering tongue. Asher ran to escape, but the few drops of venom that had touched his skin forced him to scream in agony.
Protected by the [Wind Vortex], Elijah did not move. The venom could not penetrate her defence and was burning the ground around her. Still, Elijah made the wrong choice.
Once the poison had been sprayed, Elijah was attacked. Its beak-like jaws were attacking the wind vortex. It was like a paper ball, under the pressure of an A-grade beast. And all of it crumbled.
At the next moment, the snake looked around to find something. It was irritated by the lack of blood taste in the mouth. It couldn't understand how this puny human had escaped its jaw.
The snake found the reason, then, and charged toward them. Crimson-eyed Aiden was carrying Elijah a few meters from the beast.
No notification of [Reduce Drag] or [Light Foot] activation occurred inside the empty mind of Aiden. Neither was there a timer that was continuously decreasing at the edge of his vision.
Even so, Crimson-eyed Aiden never dared to waste a moment. The wiggling crimson lines now stretching out of his eyes had engulfed his entire face. He vanished the next moment.
*Ahhhhhhhh*
*Creeeeeeee*
No one knew if it was Aiden's war cry or he cried out in pain, but the second came from the beast as Aiden thrust his blade through its eyes.
Tormented by the agony, the beast tried to shake Aiden off its head, but Aiden had already disappeared. The snake was forced to cry in pain again before it could see where the enemies had gone.
With one eye now missing, and the tongue cut off, it began spraying venom in all directions. It didn't matter whether it was another B-graded beast or any other human with a crimson-eye.
Whatever touched the venom, melted like a candle in the fire. Yet it was unable to do any damage to Aiden, who had reappeared on its head. And on the next moment, its last good eye was spraying blood all over, from the attack of Aiden
It shook its head, sending Aiden to fly like a broken kite. Whether it was due to the after-effect of [Zone] or for any other reason, Aiden was unable to move. There was no way he could escape from the venom that was approaching him.
But a [Wind Shield] appeared out of nowhere when it was a few meters away from Aiden, shielding now immobile Aiden.
The situation of the snake, on the other hand, was not good either. It's been a hard time attacking enemies, with no eyes and no tongue.
Yes, the vibration can be felt through the ground. Yet, at the same time, it was having a hard time defending hundreds of crimson-eyed pawns.
After every ounce of venom had been sprayed, the situation was dire. Its futile resistance soon came to an end. The battlefield was silent, and all the beast turned around and fled into darkness the next moment.
There was no triumphant scream, no stream of joy. There was only a group of men with crimson eyes, like a shattered puppet.
Soon enough people, white-eyed people, started coming out of town. Whether old men, children or women, every capable human came out and began to drag the dead bodies of the beast into the city.
The crimson of the eyes had begun to fade away, and all the mighty warriors who had fought until now had begun to fall to the ground like an energy-less robot.
And their fate was similar to that of the beast. People came and dragged them into the city. Aiden wasn't any different, but it took a few teenagers to drag him inside.
All the wounded bodies were dragged to the centre of the city and laid around a giant tree. Along the way, the entire city was filled with numerous bodies. Soon, all those who had pulled them left, and the silence shrouded the entire town.
Then the tree moved. At the same time, the roots began to come out of the ground and covered everyone's forehead.
Nobody was there to measure the time, but it took a long time for one of them to move again.
His eyes were white, and he was shaky, yet he stood up. The wounds on his body weren't deep, but he hadn't healed as he walked out of the city centre. The others followed soon.
Those with heavy wounds have also woken up. One without a hand, another with a deep wound on his chest, showing his bones. The blood had stopped, but the wound had never closed. Yet they moved like there was no pain.
Aiden had woken up soon enough with white eyes. Without any help, he walked through the city.
The place he had reached had a heap of dead bodies of the beast. Aiden took hold of the closest one and dragged it to his next destination.
The next destination was a broken-down house. One side of it had already been reduced to ruin, and the tree had grown from within. However, Aiden was not at all concerned about this.
He took the body and went to the house. Lyla, Elijah and the others have come. They ate the meat of their dead beast. It was already red with blood, and it wasn't even cooked.
Aiden took the beast's body to the side and followed their action. The beast's body was still warm. With the quick motion of his blade, he cut off his stomach, pouring out all the intestines.
The blood that sprinkled all over his body was still warm, but it did not affect Aiden. Aiden cut the heart of the unknown beast and swallowed it without draining the blood.
After heart, it was liver. Then he skinned one portion of the beast and was about to put the meat inside his mouth but…
Blood had begun to ooze from his nose. No one knew it was his blood or the blood of the beast he had just eaten that came out of his mouth. And he sprawled to the ground.
All those present in the room did not pay any attention to him and kept eating whatever they had.
His groan became louder with each passing moment, as his body coiled like a fried shrimp to the ground. He lost consciousness, with blood still flowing out of his nose and mouth.
None had known how much time had gone by. The blood on the ground had coagulated when he woke up again. And when he opened his eyes something was different. There was a pair of black pupils showing up again in his eyes.
