Magic is real

We walked through the halls. Emptiness filled every corner, until we came to a door.

"Wait here for a minute, Eve." Jefferson said in a quiet, low tone. I nodded once, as he walked into the room, closing the door behind him. This place just gets weirder by the minute, but I still prefer to be here than for them to have taken Charlotte away from her family.

Jefferson finally opened the door, and peeked around it. "Keep a low tone, now." He said as he gestured for me to walk in. The room was a dark, ruby red. I followed Jefferson over to the side of a bed, where someone laid.

"Here she is, sir." Jefferson said quietly, bowing. "Ah, come close dear. Let me have a look at you." A calm, gentle voice said. I walked closer to see the king, with light brown hair, and emerald green eyes. "Your highness." I said, with a small, yet terrible, curtsy. The king started to laugh a little, which turned into a slight cough. "You look like your mother dear." He said with a smile. "Thank you."

"Sir, I hate to interrupt your reunion, but you must tell her about the-"

"Ah! Yes, yes!"he started to cough a little as he sat himself up. "Come, sit." He said patting the side of his bed.

He then began to explain that I am the key to not only save him, but by saving the whole town, and end the war. The only bad part is that I have to learn magic. "Wait, what? I have to learn to use that wand? The las time I touched that thing, I caught a book on fire!"

He began to chuckle. "Can I tell you a secret?" He asked with a smile. I nodded my head. "When I first touched the wand, I did more than catch a book on fire. I caught the whole shelf and a half of 'em on fire!" He said, laughing. That was not what I was expecting.
