You Don't Have To Fear Me

"And you think that you can beat this boy?"

After hearing the boy's words, who was almost half of their age, the two men couldn't help themselves but scoff. The Man in the green vest let out a series of chuckles, mocking him.

All this while, Blake continued to stay rooted to his spot, not bothered by their taunting gazes. For him, it wasn't the first time that he was being looked down upon. Growing up in the base, a place full of tall and sturdy men, he was often put in the same position, but it never bothered him. Instead, he used his skills to make men like him shut their mouths.

"We don't have anything against you, lad. It'd be better for you if you just let us do our work." The man spoke up only to get verbal support by his lackey.

Though the two of them were showing that they weren't bothered by Blake's presence, they still had their guards up. Their guns were still pointing in his direction for they worried that the rumours about him might be true. They had heard about the boy's ruthlessness, and were hoping that it was just a part of those rumors.

"That's possible, but there is one small problem. I do have something against you guys. In fact, it wouldn't be wrong to say that I have a whole list." Blake let out a menacing laughter. He could care less about what they wanted. He was there for one reason, and that was to get rid of these pests. There was nothing which could stop it from happening. He just needed to make sure that the girl would not end up being caught in the fire.

"Why don't I offer you two a deal? Let the girl go, and surrender yourselves. I might take a pity and let you two live. How's that?" Blake continued.

For the briefest of seconds, his eyes trailed off to the girl who was still trembling in fear. A sudden urge to make her feel better rose up in his chest once again. It was one of the reasons that he was still holding his gun down instead of pointing it at the two men. He didn't want to scare her as she was already scared enough.

"As if we will listen to you." The leader of the cartel spoke up, his voice laced with ridicule. "There is no way that we are letting her go. She is our ticket to paradise." He continued.

His words only added as a fuel for Blake's curiosity. 'What's so special about her?' He thought to himself as his eyes trailed back to her, but this time instead of jumping back to the two figures which were towering above hers, they stayed there for long.

"What do you say Boss?" Jeffery, who had been standing quietly so far and watching them converse from the sidelines, finally spoke up. "Shall we take them out?" His voice was devoid of any sort of emotion.

"Not yet." He shook his head lightly while keeping his voice low.

"Little one, I need you to trust me." This time, he directed his words to the girl who was whimpering like a baby. If it wasn't for the fact that he was brought up in this mess, he would have been dealing with the same fears if he was put in her position. "I promise you that nothing will happen to you. We will get you home safe and sound."

"If only she had a home." It was the lackey who had muttered this out.

"Do not speak until you are asked to!" Blake exclaimed. He hated it when people like him spoke out of their turns. Throwing a threatening look in his direction, he turned his attention back to the girl.

"You don't have to fear me, little one." He added. He was about to continue further when he was interrupted once again.

"You aren't taking her anywhere. To think of it, you aren't going anywhere either." The man in the green vest spoke up. Thinking that he was given the chance to get rid of the new kingpin of the most feared syndicate, he decided to make the most of it and finish him off once and for all. He only straightened his bent arm slightly to make sure that his bullet won't miss the aim which was the twenty one-year-old lad's heart.

"Are you sure about it?" It was Blake's turn to mock them as he raised his free hand up in the air before bending it at an angel.

As soon as his words ended, a couple of red dots marred the shirts of the two men, leaving them utterly baffled. Without paying any attention to the two of them, Blake directed his attention back to the girl.

"Come here." He waved at her and motioned her to come to him, but the girl shook her head in a no as more tears streamed down her face. Her eyes jumped to the hand gun which was resting neatly in Blake's palm before jumping back to his face.

As if understanding the thoughts which were running in her mind, he passed it to his second in command.

"It's fine now. Come on here. I won't harm you." He spoke up. The corners of his lips were curled up in a faint smile and his tone was gentle. He didn't seem to be the same person who was conversing with them earlier. Seeing the shift in his demeanour was enough to give the two men a shock.

The girl looked at the two men who were wearing the same black uniforms with her tear-clouded eyes as a number of possibilities ran through her mind. She saw an opportunity standing before her eyes, a chance to escape the two men who were about to bring her to another hell hole.

After sniffing and blinking a couple of times, she finally took a step forward in their direction only to get a bright smile in response.

"Come on." Blake spoke up once again when he saw her taking a step in his direction. He wanted to encourage the little lady as the sooner she got to his side, the better it would be for her. But who knew that it wouldn't be as easy as he thought.

Before she could sort out her second step, she was pulled back.

"Like I said, it won't be happening." The man in the green vest spoke up before he let out a sinister laugh. His free hand was wrapped tightly around her frail neck while the muzzle of the gun was now pressed against the side of her temple.
