A Red Blinking Dot

"She's missing!"

Those were the first words which left Jeffery's breathless mouth. His mind was too consumed by the urgency of the matter, that he failed to realize that his Boss was resting.

"She's missing." He repeated his words without realizing that his loud and bold entrance had pulled the man who was sitting in the chair out of his slumber.

"What do you mean?"

Before the butler could realize what was happening and warn Jeffery to lower down his voice, it was already too late. Blake was wide awake and was staring back at Jeffery's sweating face. Worry was engraved into it with three black lines running horizontally across his forehead.

"The girl, she's not in the room." He had barely finished his words and Blake was already out of the room. The weariness from earlier was longer embracing his face as if it didn't exist in the first place.

"How long has it been?" Blake questioned the man who was following him as the two of them walked towards the adjacent. Due to the spaciousness of the two rooms, their doors were located on either side of the corridor even though they were adjacent to each other.

"I came to inform you as soon as I realized." Jeffery answered. "After asking the butler to send you a cup of coffee, I was about to resign for the night when the alarm in my wrist watch went off. At first, I thought it must have been mife messing with me again as she has the other pair. But as soon as I checked it, I realized it was your room." He continued.

The watch which Jeffery was talking about was no ordinary watch. It was the same watch which he had used during his mission. Not only was it able to work as a wireless radio microphone, it had the ability to get synced in with the base's AI system. It was their own invention and was only allocated to the most trustworthy of the organization's members. Jeffery and his wife were among them.

"It was a good thing that I didn't log it off and the watch was synced with the AI system which monitors activity in your room. The moment I saw that it was your room, I came up to check the issue only to find it empty." Jeffery finished his explanation just as they entered the room.

Blake, who was quiet all this while, finally spoke up as his eyes lingered over the empty bed. The covers were thrown on the floor and the IV needle was hanging midair from its stand.

"Hit the alarm. I want her to be found within five minutes. Take a second more than that, and all of you can kiss your resting hours goodbye. I don't care whose fault it is." Blake ordered him in a firm and resolute tone.

"Yes, Boss." Jeffery muttered as he bobbed his head up and down. He hurried out of the room with a hastened pace , leaving the door wide open as he keyed in the emergency code in his watch to set the alarm off.

Blake stood by the foot end of the bed and let his surroundings sync in. Though he looked calmed, his thoughts were a jamble and his mind was a mess. He was blaming himself for being too careless.

He was blaming himself for not locking the door on his way out. If he had done so, there was no way she would have been able to get out of the room as the door was connected to the system looking over his room and only his voice could control it.

While he was lost in his own thoughts, his eyes narrowed down at the screen next to the bed which was still showing someone's vital reading. Scrunching his eyebrows together, he took a step closer to the bed. His eyes roamed over the rumpled sheets as his eyes searched for something. His hand reached for the sheets and he pulled them off the bed completely before shaking them a lil. It didn't take the sheets long to join the rest of the covers on the floor.

After making sure that there was no sign of it, he took his phone out and began playing with it. His thumbs hovered over the screen for a little while before he logged into an app which had the letter 'Z' as the logo. After turning the system online, he typed a few lines of codes in the command's section and hit enter.

"Zak, begin the search." He muttered out loud enough for the system to catch it.

"On it!" A robotic male voice filled the room before everything went quiet.

He walked towards the right nightstand while the system was busy in carrying out the command. He went down on his knees and began to search for something in the bottom drawer. He exhaled out a sigh of relief when he was able to do what he was looking for, a band-aid.

"Task completed. Check your phone."

The same robotic voice informed him just as he was done.

"Thanks Zak!" He muttered before turning his attention back to the phone.

The only thing which was visible enough on the black screen was a red blinking dot and the green lines which made up the architecture of the house. He double clicked on the red dot to zoom in and check the exact location.

The lines on his forehead only deepened when the name of the location appeared on the screen. Without wasting a single second, he walked out of the room, not bothering to shut it on his way out.

What mattered to him more was to get to the girl first before she ran into something troublesome. He wondered how she was able to find her way down there, and how someone didn't catch her going there on her own. It looked like he needed to teach his men a lesson later on.
