Fraternal Twins (2)

'Twins.'

That was the only word which was echoing through Lillian's mind as she stared at Blake and Katherine. Her stunned eyes jumped from one figure to the other, before going back to the first one.

When she had first heard about the lady, she was expecting her to be some relative or maybe someone who was close to Blake. But never did it occur to her once that she might be his sister. That too a twin.

"Twins?" She looked at the two of them as the word left her pink lips. Her eyes were more focused on Blake.

"Yeah." Blake gave her a couple of nods as he replied to her, whereas Katherine was staring back at her shocked expressions with a bright smile on her face.

"Fraternal twins. That is why we don't look identical you know, but then you must be already knowing it. Right?" Katherine started with her nonstop rumble after seeing that the other two people had no thoughts of doing so.

"Shut up, please!" Not wanting to overwhelm Lillian with her sister's over enthusiastic responses, Blake asked her to keep her mouth shut in a not so polite manner which only left Katherine with a frown, and a pout.

"You alright?" He added after turning his attention back to Lillian who was still standing there quietly with her eyes open wide.

"Y-yes. I am a little shocked." She replied to him as she trailed her eyes off his face. "I never expected her to be your sister."

"I can tell." He replied with a faint smile. "And it's fine. Now you know that she is my twin sister." He added politely.

"So, who's the elder one in between the two of you?" Lillian couldn't hold back her curiosity and asked. This time directing her words at Katherine. For some reason, Lillian didn't want her to think that she was being excluded from the conversation even when it was Blake who had asked her to stay quiet.

"What does it look like to you?" Katherine mumbled grumpily as she eyed Blake with a pout.

Seeing how Katherine was acting like a spoiled sister, it didn't take Lillian long to make a guess. "He is, right?" She shifted her gaze back to Blake who gave her a firm nod in response.

"He is older by just one minute. One!" Katherine spoke up, getting all defensive. "Yet. he treats me like he's the boss of me." She complained while feigning a hurtful expression before Lillian.

"Umm… I don't know what to say to that, but he is your big brother, so it's inevitable I guess." Lillian shrugged her shoulders as she replied meekly.

"She is right. I am your 'big brother'." Blake muttered out haughtily as he wiggled his eyebrows to annoy Katherine more than she already was.

"I am so not talking to you." Like always, Katherine tried to pretend that she was not talking to him and turned her attention to the green eyed young lady whose eyes were dancing back and forth between the duo.

"Are you a new recruit?" Katherine was more than eager to know more about Lillian, she couldn't but throw a series of questions at her. "What's your speciality? Or you are just a trainee at the moment?" Her tongue galloped like a horse trying to do its best to win a sprint.

"Katherine!" Blake had to interrupt in between. "Go easy with her, will you, please?" He added a little politely after seeing that his twin sister was not even sparing him a look. "And to answer all of your questions, no. she is a guest for now."

"A guest? Since when did you start inviting people over as guests at the base? Don't you dare to lie to me." Katherine warned him. She knew Blake too well. He was someone who'd never go against his words, let alone breaking one of the rules which was set by him, or their father.

"I am not. She will become a trainee, but not any time soon." Blake could understand from where her doubts were arising from. hence, he explained it to her politely. "Until she has a green light from her doctor, she is our guest. Also, I would suggest you think carefully of your next words." He didn't forget to warn him to be careful with her question.

Though Katherine had a heart of gold, she was someone who would let her tongue run wild at times when it came to words. Some of those words would come out as insensitive, and she would end up hurting the other person unintentionally.

If it was any other case, Blake would not have been paying this much attention to the whole thing. But Lillian was nothing more than a child at the moment even if she was sixteen. He didn't want Katherine and her to be at odds already. In fact, it would make things much easier for him if they ended up being friends.

"Umm… alright. But is she okay? Did you call the family doctor for her? If not, then you should. It's better if he, or his wife is the one checking on her than our other doctor." As Blake's words slowly settled in Katherine's mind, she started to ramble on as she eyed Lillian up and down.

Her troubled eyes were looking for any external injury, or a bandaged limb, but with the loose clothes which Lillian was donning on, barely gave her anything to observe.

"Easy there, you worrywart." Blake chuckled lightly. "She is fine for now. Though there will be some tests done later which would decide how fine she is. Also, are you forgetting how I treat our guests? I obviously called Mrs. Jackson. She will pay us a visit tonight as well and check on Lillian again." Blake answered all of her questions at once, trying to ease her worries.

It was one of the things he liked about her sister's personality. She was too good when it came to people whom she liked.

'These two are going to get along well.' He thought to himself as he looked at them with a smile.

"Good." Katherine nodded her head a couple of times as she pondered over his words. "But this is no way of keeping a guest, especially one who's supposedly ill." She added after giving it a thought.

"What do you me-" Blake had only started to question her when he was interrupted by Katherine once again.

"I have an idea. Lillian is going to come and live with me back at the mansion."
