SARAHIAH BROTHERS TRY TO REASON WITH HER

Darius felt sad and hurt seeing the tears but she needs to know, "Sarah, don't you want children of your own?" in such a pleading manner.

"Yes, I do but not right now, maybe later on, but for now I only want to enjoy yours on a Saturday, not every day. I will go crazy and I am not ready for that hassle," she said in a scared voice as her face also showed the horror of her life being disrupted.

"Look Sarah, our duty is to get you a nice husband so that you could be happy and raise your own family," Darius responded as he returned to his seat and they all continues with their dinner, giving her time to try and process what they were talking about.

Sarahiah looked at her family enjoying their favorite meal and they all seemed as though they had forgotten the conversation that they were just having not too long ago. No one was saying anything bending her head thinking, 'She was so looking forward to this dinner the entire week now this, what am I going to do?' Unable to control the tears she kept her head bent and allows them to flow.

The food in front of her made her feel sick, all she kept thinking was, 'Her family wants to get rid of her, and all this time she thought they loved her. Another thing, why would someone want a quarter-million dollars for a dowry? Are they hard-up for cash, or is this the required amount from every bride family?'

As questions kept popping up in her head, she tried reasoning them out in her mind. Wiping her face dry then she look at each of her brothers' faces she then asked, "Jerod, how much did Alana's family give as her dowry?"

Noticing the way Jerod looked at the others and then responded, "Alana's family was poor, and we were in love so I didn't take any dowry."

Facing each of them for a response, she heard them all giving the same answer, "Very good, then I will wait until I fall in love and I will pray that I don't fall in love with a gold digger. You four have worked very hard to save your money for your family and I will not allow a greedy, hungry man to come and take that away."

"But you don't understand Sarah, we don't mind, and dad said the family has a business and is well off," Joshua said.

"Now you listen to me Joshua, not every businessman is loaded financially. Some are way over their heads in debts but walk around claiming to the world that they can flaunt their money. I can safely say we are blessed as we have no loans hanging over our heads, no creditors are knocking at our doors every Monday morning, but if you all insist I will leave home. Do you hear me? I don't want to hear another thing about marriage right now."

They heard their dad snap at Sarahiah while saying, "Listen to me young lady, your mother is not well, and I cannot promise to be around all the time, so you will do as I say!"

"Okay dad, don't say I didn't warn you."
