Sixty Eight

"Yes dad."

"Son I saw the van home, where is my daughter in law?"

"Dad she is taking a lie down," Caleb said and pulled the sheet over her.

"I wanted to tell her thanks myself, but let her rest. I will tell her in the morning."

"Okay dad," Caleb said and then turned his attention once more to her, he saw her eyes were open. "Oh dear," he said when she turned her face aside, "Sarahiah I am sorry, please let me fix something for you to eat."

Caleb poured a glass of milk for her and said, "Drink this until I am finished." He saw how scared she was so he took her face in both his palms and said, "Please don't be afraid. I won't hurt you, I know are hungry so drink up."

Caleb saw her face was still pale but she obediently drank the milk and he saw her holding the glass up, "You want some more?" Caleb saw her shaking her head so he took the glass and then said, "I know my family had forgotten about you, but tell me what you want to eat and I will try to get it for you."

Sarahiah closed her eyes thinking, 'I cooked what I wanted to eat and they eat all, what does he expect me to say? I best play I am sleeping and he will leave me alone just like the last two weeks.'

Caleb saw her turn to her side and said, "I am fine now, there is no need to worry about me."

Sarahiah pulled up the covers and hugged her pillow, while Caleb looked at her and become angrier by the moment and wondered, 'Why does she have to be so stubborn?'

Caleb got up and said, "If that is what you want, then forget asked." Caleb left the room and closed the door, when he reached his room he kicked the bed and then sat down thinking, 'Why does she make me this angry?'

Caleb felt the beads of sweat rolling down his face, "Dear God, I forget what I really went to ask her, now she won't come in my room. What am I going to do?"

Sarahiah listened to hear if there was anyone around and then got up, she saw how her feet were swollen from standing the entire week and from earlier in the kitchen. She had her work to finish and she knew that he wouldn't bother her again for the night and she could work in peace.

Sarahiah worked for half an hour when she felt her belly starting to scrape, she was unable to suffice the hunger any longer so she searched through her book with numbers.

She saw Subway number so she called and placed her order for a foot long subway sandwich with everything on it, she told them her address had changed and she gave them the new address to drop it.

Sarahiah knew that they only takes half an hour so she worked, "Oh God, if I fix something to eat I won't have taken so long."
