Seventy One

"Sorry my dear, I was busy as you can see. I have a lot of work to attend to, I am not like you that whenever or whatever you needs your father would provide for you, but I have to work. When I am finish here then we can talk, other than that I am sorry, I have a business to run," Caleb said.

"Caleb please, I didn't think you would take what I said serious, I miss you."

Jezell heard the way Caleb laughed as he said, "But I don't, as you can see, I am enjoying not having to be bound to one person. The freedom feels good and I just get myself a nice pet, she is very good company, very intelligent and she works very hard."

"It is that girl, I am sure of it."

"Who are you talking about Jezell?"

"You think I am stupid? I know it's that girl that ran into us the day the rain was pouring hard."

"You mean the one who boyfriend got her the taxi?"

"Oh, she has a boyfriend?"Jezell asked.

"I thought so, but then I wasn't paying much attention, you were with me and it was you who was watching her, so didn't you see? Now if you excuse me there is much work to be done."

Just then the phone ring, picking it up Caleb answered, "Yes Maggie... Okay put her on... Mom what's wrong?... You are?... Thanks, she did quite a job... I know you would be surprise... You should see store three, it's just blooming... Bye mom, and thanks."

Caleb hang up and it was only when he looked up he saw her standing there still, "Jezell I thought you left?"

Caleb held her hand and led her out his office, but right at the entrance, eyeball to eyeball Sarahiah stood in a beautiful gray suit and was looking at him. Caleb immediately released Jezell's hand, that is when someone called his name.

Caleb took his eyes of her for a minute to look and see who it was, but when he returned his gaze to the entrance, she was nowhere in sight. He scoped through the store and stepped out the entrance looking for her, but she had disappeared.

'This is an illusion, I am sure Sarahiah wasn't just standing there,' he thought. He heard Jezell speaking, but suddenly he felt uncomfortable, while beads of sweat kept rolling down his face. He dabbed his handkerchief over his face, 'What the hell is wrong with me? I didn't do anything wrong, so why do I feel guilty?'

Caleb returned to his office and closed the door, he then turned around and walked out immediately towards Maggie, he told her, "I have an errand to run," and then left.

Maggie looked at him hurry out, 'Has something happened? I thought he was expecting a Miss Steelton? Suppose she comes now, and he didn't say where he was going. Well I hope she don't turn up or call. I hate to be in a position where I have to lie.'

Maggie lifted the receiver to dial his number, but when Mr. Fred entered she rested down the receiver.

When he said, "Miss Maggie, I was hoping to see Mr. Christian, is he in?"

"I am afraid not sir, you just missed him, he left about fifteen minutes ago, he have an errand. But I can't recall you having an appointment."

"No my dear, I was just visiting someone in the mall and I decided to drop by, just tell him I was here thanks, and sorry about the bother."

...

Caleb slackened his tie from around his neck as he felt stifled, he then walked out the building. Caleb saw her walking with Mitch, 'I was not having an illusion, she was there, but I didn't know she had any idea where I was located.'

"You fool, you think everybody is stupid?" he heard a voice said.
