Seventy Nine

"She didn't want to go, so this is her way of saying she is not going."

"You really think she is making trick mom? Sometimes I can't believe it is you that's speaking."

"Yes, she is making trick, and believe it or not, I know what I am speaking about."

"Mom, it was you and dad that forced me into this marriage so you could get money for Petal's dowry, and the fool I am, when dad got sick I agreed, but since you all don't like her, I will return her dowry. And mom, there's a few things you'll need to know, it was Sarahiah that bought the two vans, it was her idea that you all go on a vacation, it was her money that I gave you to spend on your vacation. My wife may be strange to you all, but I love her. You could go to your thanksgiving, but I am going to take care of my wife, and if anything happens to my baby, I will never forgive you," Caleb said storming out the house, taking her van and drove away.

"When he calms down, he will believe me, realizing she was making trick, you wait and see."

"How could you not see the signs, and if the child is not pregnant, how could you be so heartless. Our family is not like her family, can't you see how much her brothers love her. Paying the dowry for them meant nothing, but our children lie, scheme and thief from us, but this child have given us more than our own. Do you think they will send her back here?"

"I don't care."

Jonas looked at her, "What has gotten into you suddenly? Why is it you hate her so much?"

"Look, this girl that Caleb had gotten to work in the store, she is very good. If Caleb could marry her, the store will make money."

Jonas listened to her and wondered, 'Am I hearing right? Is that all she has been thinking about since we returned from the vacation? I have seen the changes, but I never thought she was more concerned for the money than our son's happiness. I know she was right when she complained about Sarah not joining the family for dinner and I agree with her, but when the child did join us, I could see the struggle she had by sitting and eating, she only just nibble with the little she takes.'

"Margret, is it the money, you have been thinking about that you have forgotten our son's happiness?"

"Look, if Sarah leaves him, we could arrange a divorce and Caleb could marry the young lady."

"Pac," Margret felt her face after Jonas left her standing and walked up to their room.

"Sarah will pay for that, she has made Jonas raise his hand on me."

"Mom," Petal interrupted her, "Just suppose how you are treating Sarah, my expected in laws treat me the same way, what would you do?"

"You shut your mouth, if you were a decent girl, we wouldn't have to provide a dowry."

"Are you saying Sarah is not decent?"

"Who cares if she is, or not?"
