Eighty Seven

Caleb felt his insides burn with hurt for what his mom had done, 'Of all the people, how could I have misjudged her.' He recalled the rage and bitterness he had seen in her, 'Where did that come from? She is the one who told me to be patient with Sarahiah, and now she is so vindictive towards Sarahiah, why is that?'

Caleb responded to the customer who wanted to know the quality of material the gown was made of, then he continued browsing through the store, 'I have helped at least five customers to make their purchase.' As memories flooded through his mind about his past when he had just finished school and came to work with his dad.

'This was our first store, and I had started as a sales clerk, then moved up the ladder. When dad bought the fourth store, he gave me it to manage, just as he gave the others a store each to manage, and he oversees the stores. But their scheming and underhand work had caused the business to collapse, almost bringing us to bankruptcy, and now with mom's behavior, who knows what will happen to dad's legacy.'

Caleb observed the assistant manager looking down at him, signalling for him to come, so Caleb went up once more. He saw the cashier smile, so he did the same 'I am hoping for favor in getting through with this job, my family needs me, and I need a job to take care of them.'

Caleb turned around to view the store from the stairs, all the clerks were busy assisting someone, 'This store is arranged just like A and S stores with the original and imitations, but the gift section is much bigger here, and there are sale tags that draws the attention of customers.'

Caleb entered the office to hear, "Sir, the employer asked that you full these forms, and that you send a resume." He took out his resume and placed it before the assistant manager, then focused all his attention on filling out the form in front of him. He took only a few minute, then returned the form to the assistant manager.

"I was observing you, while dealing with the customers you seemed well versed with store work."

"I am, I have been managing a store for over ten years."

"So, why did you leave?"

"The owners believed that the changed I made was displeasing, so I decided to move on. I like how this store is organized."

"Yes, well the new owner is very particular with what she wants, but she said you will get an answer by the evening. I was just wondering, what was the name of the store you managed?"
