Chapter 2

A dimensional crack blew through the time and space continuum, creating a whirlpool of dark energy with sinister intent. Out of it emerged a green goblin-like creature. Its presence froze the movement of every living being within its radius of influence. Its body covered in sharp metallic pointy armor that gave off dark smoke.

20 feet away was a youthful male body sprawled on the street, his hair matted in sticky blood.

"All hail Demon King Xiangliu! Your faithful servant Yinglong has come to render my humble assistance in restoring your former glory!"

In an elaborate fashion, the weak demon spirit gave a kowtow to its master.

Green scaly skin and a budding yellow horn sprouted from the bald creature.

A cold green reptilian eye gave a perfunctorily smile, lazily stretched from the ground caked in darkened blood.

"Yinglong!"

"Yes, Demon King Xiangliu!"

The creature's head never left the ground, kissing the rough texture of the asphalt road.

"The human whose body I'm inhabiting is of small stature! Find me another vessel that is well proportionate!"

Disdain marked the cold lifeless eyes.

"Demon King Xiangliu, your soul is binding rapidly with the human. Your humble servant would cross through the fires of hell and worse to bring you that vessel! I simply plead for more time!"

The goblin-like creature in a sniveling voice asked that its master to grant him an extension.

"How long do I have to wait?!"

Dwelling in the body of a human did not hide the unmistakable thunderous voice of the diabolical being.

"A fortnight my lord, is more than enough to find the human that is most worthy of your supreme dominance! If you will allow your humble servant to seek a habitation...."

"Enough! I will live where the human does! You can rise up!"

"As you wish.... I will now take my leave, Demon King Xiangliu!"

Without the demon king's approval, there was no way the servant would have gotten up from the ground that his head was buried.

"I promise that your title, 'Lord of Adversity' will be restored to you!"

A dismissive hand gesture met the heartfelt speech of the demon spirit.

In a blink of an eye the creature disappeared into the whirling mass of dark energy. Stripped of his title, that did not prevent the possessed body from performing dark magic.

"I must learn their ways, so that I can destroy them!"

A snap of his finger restored everything back to normal. Vehicles and their human inhabitants resumed flow of activities.

"ChenChen! why do you have blood on you?!"

Opening and closing of time and space continuum led to loss of recent memories in those that were under its powerful influence.

"Is that blood?!!!"

Three identical voices shouted in fright at the hideous sight of Yu Chen.

"An, Ai, Ao. Not you three! Where did you see blood?!"

LinLin the geeky lad among the octo group leaned to take a closer look at the short frame of his friend.

"Hey! Where is Lyn and Blue? I don't see any of them!"

Startled in being at a place that they had no recollection of, the medics sent a peculiar look at the short lad covered in blood and looking for all the world too relaxed.

"They are over there!"

Two girls, one in short bob and the other in pixie haircut were leaning against the wall of a store.

"Your friend, does he need to be checked? We..."

The athletic man did not get to finish what he was saying as dark smoke surrounded him.

"D-Don't hurt t-them!"

Yu Chen managed to shout a warning despite his waning consciousness.

"Oh? You are more tenacious than I'd imagined, but not for long!"
