Mammoth Slime

For slimes though, it was relatively simple to keep them happy. they can't make very complicated thoughts, so they also couldn't understand if someone was trying to hurt them unless it was blatantly obvious that the person was harmful, like when Zeeth suddenly grabbed Bu at first. But they were also very friendly and loyal if they understood that the creature was not trying to kill it, having fun was their number one priority in life.

If the tamed creature was injured it would simply take mana from its master to heal itself and the same works vice versa. Zeeth also realized that whenever he was hungry or needed sleep, he only needed to take some energy from his slimes to feel completely rejuvenated and his tiredness or hunger would be satiated by them. But if one person's hunger was split and transferred across a hundred slimes, they would barely feel any change at all.

And all he had to do was to have twenty slimes sleep for an hour a day and twenty to eat sometimes to keep his whole army alive and healthy. Well, not really "eat". The only source of energy slimes need are from water and mana, so as long as there was water nearby they could live forever, and if there was abundant mana they could grow forever.

So they were incredibly simple to keep as pets. Other than their massive weights .

The final and most important thing was a hint about where one of his memories were. It was hidden in a black, stone pebble in the forest that he had been teleported near at the start of his journey.

Thankfully for him, Zeeth had never gone too far from the edge where the forest and the Slime Plain met, always tracing around the edges of the forest. Even if he had lost his memories, he had not lost his cautious personality.

Even though he stayed so close to the forest he had not seen a single creature other than slimes and the occasional dragon flying from far up ahead.

Zeeth had asked god about this and it was partially because dragons had killed a lot of creatures that had too large of a population, which included humans, but mostly because all creatures of this world knew how much dragons favored slimes and didn't dare go near the slime plain in fear of getting spotted by a dragon and killed. If there was no food and they didn't dare hunt slimes for their exquisite water, then there was no need to even get close.

So that is why Zeeth never had the chance to tame any other monsters and his amazing luck necklace must've helped him unknowingly avoid the dragons. By the end of the three months, he had 99 slimes, and as he looked at his huge and still growing army of slimes, he felt delighted.

"After I get about 150 slimes I will venture out into the forest and find other creatures to tame. Then I will tame 151 wolves and have my army of wolves riding slimes. And then I'm gonna stack venom spitting rodents on the slimes and have the coolest army!"

In his three months of solitude, other than talking to god for 20 minutes a day, he felt really lonely. So to not feel so alone he developed a habit of talking to Al. His solitude also gave him a lot of time to daydream… Of course, he only thought of this amazing plan as he was still not aware of the limits of his skill. God was up there in the sky listening to Zeeth's thoughts and chuckling to himself creepily, just happily awaiting Zeeths eventual despair.

Al was now a much larger slime. On his journey looking for more slimes, he had, of course, found many ponds and puddles of water. How else would there be so many slimes? This place had to be rich in water. Every time he found water Al jumped in to play and every time it came out Al was a bit larger than before.

Now Al drooped from his head down to his shoulders and sagged in front of Zeeth's chest.

Zeeth climbed onto his largest slime, an 18 feet tall behemoth, to look around and see if there were any slimes nearby to tame. He turned his head 90 degrees when he saw a giant slime.

It seemed to be the same slime that he ran away from when he first got here. The giant slime now stood over ten meters tall and was just as destructive.

'Hmm… maybe I can take on this guy now with my 99 slimes. I also just need to make sure it doesn't feel threatened so that I can tame it.'

On his three month journey to tame slimes he had developed many tactics to hunt or move around. One was the slime cannon.

He would stack five slimes on top of one another, from smallest on top to the largest on the bottom. He then had them all compress down as much as possible, have them tilt a little towards the direction he wanted them to go, and before they all fell apart he had them all at the same time decompress and shoot them all away, with the smallest one on top going the fastest and furthest.

Sometimes he would curl himself up into the top slime and shoot him away too. Of course, he didn't go inside the slime, that would pop the membrane and kill the slime. The slime just wrapped him up inside of itself to protect him from the wind.

"WEEEE-GAgh-CURG!"

Zeeth came out of the slime five feet from the mammoth slime, gasping for air and holding his neck. The slime that wrapped him up, De, just happily bounced around, unaware and uncaring of what just happened. Zeeth had the other slimes follow him by using the same method. Over the three months, his control over the slimes had greatly improved. He didn't even need to voice out his will in his head for the slimes to do what he wanted.

So when the giant slime turned its eyes around to check what was making noise behind it, it first noticed a human. And then a horde of slimes just boosting at it. Because the slime was slightly behind a small hill it couldn't see the whole army, but once it extended its body in a jump to stomp on the human in anger, the mammoth slime saw the legion of about a hundred slimes charging at it.

This number of slimes would even panic the mammoth slime as there was power in numbers and even slimes understood that. The mammoth slime hurriedly tried to run away but before it could do that Zeeth surrounded it with the other slimes that were already near him by boosting.

After seeing slimes blocking all of its paths of retreat the mammoth slime hesitated a little bit, but soon compressed itself, ready to jump on them to escape and live if that's what it takes.

However, right as it was in mid-compression Zeeth landed on top of the slime with a plop and clung onto the slime's top tightly. This instantly disrupted the slime's jump, so instead of shooting off the bottom part of its body it shot the top part up, wobbling its giant body like pudding and sending Zeeth on a crazy horse-, umm… slime ride.

Zeeth's physic was really good, which is not a coincidence as that is one of the reasons why God chose him, so he clung on rather easily. Just as he felt the mammoth slime calming down and stopping its body Zeeth thought, 'Whew, so it's finally calmed down, huh.'

But when he opened his eyes, all he saw was a pair of giant eyes looking at him and the mouth pointing at him, with the membrane already opening beneath him.

'Damn, this bastard is trying to blast my body to bits! With a slime this size, the water will obliterate me!' The moment Zeeth saw the gaping hole he rolled off to the side hoping to avoid the hole while still clinging on.

Unfortunately for him the slime really wanted him off so it slanted its body into a slide and moved the hole to follow Zeeth while still pressurizing water with mana.

Zeeth let go of the slime and he started to roll down but he stopped himself midway by grabbing onto a chunk of the slime.

And right before the hole could catch up to him, Zeeth had a slime of the perfect size jump up using the slime cannon and plug itself right into the massive hole following him. The giant slime shivered and instantly calmed down, becoming a large, flat puddle like a humongous water droplet.

Zeeth had found out this trick about slimes within his three months. On the 14th day of his three-month journey, he was walking around drenched from the mana water that slimes shot out at him. So far his tactic for taming slimes was to grab it, wait for it to calm down, and then when it realizes that Zeeth is safe he would tame the slime.

This was a plan that worked, he could tame the slimes like this, but there were two major problems. One, he could only tame the slimes that he could hold, so his small party also consisted of all small slimes. And two, every time he did this, he would get drenched in water.

The water was refreshing at first and it was hot out, so he enjoyed it at first, but after the fifth time that day, it was getting annoying.

So when he found another slime he decided it was going to be today's last slime. This one was rather small, the whole thing could fit in his one hand and bulged out slightly. Zeeth grabbed it in one hand and of course, the slime freaked out.

The mouth pointed at him and the membrane opened, ready to shoot water. But before it could and before Zeeth could think anything else, he lazily and blankly stuck his finger into the membrane. He didn't expect anything since he wasn't thinking either.

At this point, he didn't know about the sleep transfer between him and slimes yet, and he had only 2 hours of sleep last night. He was sleepy, his eyes drooping, back hunched and mind basically shut down.

But he was surprised. Suprised enough to wake him up fully. His finger went in with a "shu~ump" and the slime, instead of ejecting the water out and pushing his finger away or something, just stopped and started sagging through his fingers.

Zeeth learned to channel a white dot to the slimes without having to place his hands over it, that movement was simply a catalyst to make it easier so he tamed the slime easily.

Zeeth used this method tons of times to tame slimes without getting drenched and used it again here to calm this slime down.

Zeeth quickly channeled a white dot to the slime as the heat that he had felt 99 times before traveled down his arm and into the slime.

Thankfully he was only taming slimes so he only needed one control to tame this one despite its power since it was so primitive in its thinking. If the slime was any smarter, something with this power definitely would require more control.

After taming this slime Zeeth felt his control over the water was much better. Oh, right, he obtains some abilities from his slimes and they obtain some of his, so Zeeth learned how to control water and fill himself up with more mana more proficiently.

His strongest water shot could now shoot water out of himself that is strong enough to cut a mid-sized tree branch apart within 5 seconds. Though this was far from useful in actual combat, this was very impressive for a three-month-old newcomer. His ability to absorb mana faster came from the slime's naturally high level of mana in itself and their ability to absorb magic.

Humans can always absorb more mana to strengthen themselves, but the speed at which they can do that varies greatly with each person. People can concentrate to make the mana flow faster but even if a creature was just lying there passively in the ground it would usually still be absorbing little bits of mana at all times.

If the creature had spent some mana, the mana it would absorb will refill its mana reserve. But if the mana reserve is full, the creatures will absorb mana to increase the mana reserve. And of course, the latter will be much slower as it is forcing your mana reserve wider instead of just refilling it.

It wasn't just him who got more abilities too. His slimes got a small increase in intelligence since Zeeth's high intelligence as a human was much higher than the slimes intelligence.

They could now look around and tell who their master was by looks instead of the mana connection they share as master and tamed monster. This would be useful in case the mana link was severed for some reason.

They could also remember some of their experiences before they would simply forget anything from more than 5 minutes ago, but now they would remember anything that was important to them, like their master's name, their own name, and other things (I'm not gonna list everything the slimes can remember. You get the idea. They're smarter.)

After taming this slime he got a rather large boost to all his new abilities too.

He also had more confidence to tackle even larger slimes, so his first move was to climb to the highest point on the mammoth slime, which he now named Giant. Yeah, clearly the narrator and the character don't have very similar thoughts.

But anyway, he got on top and started looking for even larger slimes. He didn't find any in the vicinity, but he did find a rather large slime the size of a car a little distance away.

"All right, that's the one! Chaaarge!!"

With the addition of the giant slime, he could now stack six slimes on top of each other. He got to the slime on top and propelled himself to the slime and he repeated what he did when he fought the mammoth slime.

Shot in front, plugged the hole, but when he tried to tame the slime Zeeth couldn't feel any of the usual heat running down his arm or the slime's connection.

"Huh?! What? Why can't I tame this one?! It's not more powerful than my previous slimes. Al, explain this to me!"

"Al! Al!"

"... you're not some pokíman." he held Al in his hand and wondered, "Wait, can I only tame this many monsters?! What, you're kidding me! God's number!"

A white point formed in front of Zeeth and it spiraled outwards until it covered Zeeth's entire vision and teleported Zeeth to God's place. The white space that he first appeared to and a black sphere hovered in the middle.
