Chapter 38: Memories Of Father

"Thank you... for telling me to speak up. I owe it to you." He said to me with a sincere tone making my heart flutter... as if... I.. love... NO!

I... NO! I DON'T WANT THESE FEELINGS ANYMORE! DAMN IT!

He treated you badly. He made me feel like shit and honestly he just sees this as a mere business relationship. So I'm treating it just like it. I'm not about to get my hopes up and end up getting heartbroken again. Never again.

"You see my father at times can be quite sexist... and brash. he believes that women are just there to leech of at rich men... well ever since that incident happened." He said timidly.

"What? What incident?"

"You see my mother was caught cheating... by my father after I graduated from high school... because of what my mother did. It drove a wedge with the relationship my father had. Essentially it's her fault that my father is like this towards women. Although back then... he was a loving father... well to me... he truly did care... I guess being betrayed changed him a lot."

This just gives me nostalgia from my own mother.... like how she spent all of our money causing us to go broke... and then dying on us with a lot of debt... She's such a useless idiot. I wished she would have died earlier than she did.

I pat Louie's shoulder... expressing my sympathy... "I understand..."

"Remember when we went to that badminton court and we talked about the future while we were playing?" I brought up something from our past.

"Oh.. I don't really remember much from it? I can't believe you remember things from that far." He giggled.

I guess he doesn't remember... well since when did he remember. It's as if he honestly doesn't care about me... like at all...

"When we were playing badminton in the court... I brought up what you wanted to be when you grew up?"

FLASHBACK START

It brings back the memories... the scent of sweat in the gym. The dimly lit light from above. The unequal lighting due to only turning on the lights of the court that are in use... so the surrounding was just overall darkness... the owner of the court was a jerk to me... giving me so much shit just for being there disturbing "LOUIE'S PRIVATE PRACTICE". He gave me a scowl like I was the scum of the earth... making me white-faced.. leaving suddenly before Louie called me to come back.

I remembered him.. playing and then handing it to one of his friends as he sat down... wiping himself with the towel... as he continued to flex his muscles... and I JUST COULDN'T HELP being attracted by it...

I just brought it up.. just like a fool I said. "So do you really want to be a professional badminton player? First... you wanted to be a swimmer but now you wanted to be a professional badminton player."

He let out a soft smile before sitting down a few inches away from me. Grabbing his bottle to drink he spoke quietly. "I'm honestly not sure... I don't think my father would approve of it."

"Why not? Oh.. I think it's because... to have good pay to be a professional badminton player you either have to be a big and popular one... or you won't learn any money." I said to him... he nodded meaning I hit the bullseye by now at this point I can easily predict what his father wants...

"Correct... my father told me that being a badminton player or a musician is not a high paying job I mean it could it be but you need to be popular to be a high paying one. He wants me to inherit the family business..." He sighed slightly.

"I mean I guess it's pretty true... I suppose your father is just looking out for you..." I said to him.

He got up and pointed towards his coach. Who tried to manipulate me into taking lessons from him earlier... but I denied to... "I mean look at the coach. My father said that the reason he doesn't have a car is that he doesn't have money."

"Uh... your father said that? That's really narrow-minded if you ask me. I don't think that having a car signifies how rich you are." I laughed at the idea. He let out a smile agreeing to what I said...

Back then I never really knew anything about his father... now I remember when we first met...

He stood in front of me giving me a bucket and sponge. I let out a little sigh and a confused look. "What's this for?"

He giggled. "Help me clean our car. It's like one of my chores. My father told me a man has to learn how to clean the car..."

"Huh?" I squinted. "Clearly I'm not a man... I'm a girl."

"Well, you don't exactly look and act lady-like. So why not help me? After all, you did eat a lot at my house." He teased me.

"Fine... I guess I'll just take that as a compliment." I sighed and got to cleaning...

The maroon-colored car is fairly big. I didn't know the brand nor I was familiar with any brands... honestly not really much of a car person that's why I'm not able to give any description of it in my head...

And that's where I met him... as soon as I was cleaning the car with the sponge... I heard a soft but deep voice behind me.

"Who are you? Why are you cleaning my car? Shouldn't be a lady like yourself be in the kitchen? Cleaning a car is a man's job." He said to me.

I turned around completely annoyed. "Ever heard of carwash girls.... also.." I turn around to face him bowing my head down. "It's a pleasure to meet you. You must be Louie's father. I am helping Louie with his chores since it's the responsible thing to do."

"Louie!" He shouted making Louie go to where we were.

"Why is this girl helping you with cleaning the car? She can't clean cars. She's a girl." He said to him.

"Actually sir. I was just about to finish cleaning your car. If only you haven't disturbed me I would be finally done." I answered respectfully but a little annoyed...

Who does he think he is? Asking me to go to the kitchen...

He looked at the car and it was spotless... he then remained silent told us to go inside... but he nudged me a little in my shoulder.

"Who are you exactly?" He asked me as we were about to go in...

Oh.. you do not mess with me... although in order to date Louie I need his father to like me! I'll do my best to do that!
