Chapter 41: Getting Cold Feet

I sat down on the limousine... getting a little comfy to what's about to hit me... I can sense cold sweat dripping from my face and my mouth slightly getting dehydrated from the fear of presenting in a crowd of people... I mean I should be used to it but this level of pressure... it's weighing me down...

"Are you not feeling well young master?" The driver noticed my constant shivering.

"Oh no... I'm just fine... I'm just nervous that's all..." I gave a nervous little smile...

He sighed. "Here. This should relax you... you know it's been long since I've seen you, nervous young master. You always had this sharp look in your eyes like you knew everything but today." He turned around as our eyes meet. "It makes you a little bit human don't you agree?" The light reflected on his face giving him a glow.

For an old man... he's pretty good looking... at least he cares for Louie... other than my bitch ass father. Who doesn't even know how to give a pep talk.

I grabbed the candy which was one of my candy called Mr. Mint I reached it with an overstretched hand as the brown and mint colors combine in the wrapper.

"Many people find the combination of mint and chocolate to be quite bizarre but I really find them delicious. Don't you agree?" He looked at me through his front view mirror.

"Actually I strangely like it as well.." I responded, opening the wrapper of the candy and putting it in my mouth...

The candy's outside was hard mint while the inside was covered with liquid chocolate... I moved it a bit with my tongue tasting the minty fresh before the chocolate starts to leak out... the two flavors complemented one another... like heaven in your taste buds...

Well, It was my idea to add the candy in the first place. So I'm glad I got to taste it.

"You're finally relaxed now, aren't you? I'm glad young master." He noticed my smiles from the back.

"Thank you so much. I really appreciate it." I said to him in Louie's signature cold tone.

I'm a bit of an actor so I think I can manage to copy his tones and expressions.

As I looked from the outside there I see it. The tall and erect building of the Quinones Food Corporation. It sticks out like a sore thumb...

"You act as if this is the first time you've seen the building young master." He giggled, looking at how I looked at the building intently...

I really need to stop being excited and scared... I have to channel Louie's expression and they have to be cold and ruthless... I mean that's kind of what he is... although... sometimes I guess he isn't really like that...

He did defend me from his father, helped me with his crazy wife, and apologize for pressuring me... I guess he's not too bad after all.

"We are here young master..." The driver said making my heart drop... I was so focused on Louie that I didn't even realize that we are already here...

Gulp... I never knew to come to the office was this frightening... usually when I go in.. I'm happy but now... I'm a bundle of nerves...

I open the door of the limousine... "Welcome, Mr. Quinones..." I hear a deep yet soft-spoken voice of a woman behind me.

I turned around to see a woman looking very sophisticated... with her eyes as sharp as knife.. staring in front of my face.

Who is this woman?? Is she the welcome committee well she didn't do a good job to give me a warm welcome.

"I'm surprised that you didn't come here in your usual schedule but I did hear that you were hospitalized so I moved your schedule.. although you have a lot of things to do." She said to me as she continued looking in her list as we both walked inside of the building.

Who is she? Wait... I think this is Ms. Fletcher! His secretary!

"Thank you, Ms. Fletcher..." I said to her.

She turned around giving me a satisfied smile. "You are in a good mood today aren't you sir? Did something happen?"

Huh? Does thanking her make it seem like I'm in a good mood? Does Louie not thank her for things?

"Oh, what makes you say that I'm in a good mood, Ms. Fletcher." I turned the question to her.

"It's just that you are talking to me more than usual sir. Usually, you only say a sentence and then you let me do all the talking... that's why I assumed." She replied continuing in looking at her list as we continued to walk to my office.

As my eyes wander to my surroundings... I see everyone bowing their heads to me.. although no greeting of good morning.. everyone stared at me... the guards bowed and the employees as well... basically everyone did... but why does it feel rather awkward... like they were obligated to that... like they were afraid of not doing it...

Finally... we reached my well Louie's office... she unlocked the door with her key and we got inside... it's a very warm room decorated with tumbleweed colored wood matched with oak planks and red furniture... like it was a baroque styled room... well this is my room I suppose...

I sat down in my chair... staring at the nameplate in the front.

Ms. Fletcher bowed her head and started to walk out. "Wait!" I said to her, turning her neck to me in confusion.

"Where are you going?" I asked her.

"To my desk sir. I would need to prepare your PowerPoint presentation and the place for your presentation later." She replied coldly.

"Alright then... thanks," I said timidly before I hear her going out of the door...

I think this should be the time I contact Louie... I grabbed the communicator from my ear.. and looked for the switch to turn it on...

KNOCK KNOCK. I got surprised to drop the communicator on the floor. The door opened to a man who also looked like Louie although he looks quite younger than the other one I saw in his rest house... now, who is this person...
