Chapter 46: Problem With People

POV: Grace

What can I say... it's kind of foolish to just have it laid out for you... like a path.. from what I know.. life is all about risks and luck... I don't want a sure way to do things... it ruins the fun of accomplishing things...

You know what they say about the story about the son of the businessman. When the son got the money from someone else they easily throw it away but if they worked hard for it... they can't get rid of it because they knew they deserved they have it. I'm not some woman that's going to let Louie win...

FLASHBACKS

I was shivering... almost biting my nails... as they all remained frozen... the thing should wear off soon... but what am I going to answer to them... I can just use this pendant... so I can get it done right...

This little voice inside my mine... saying... no. you don't need help because you're an independent person... it yells out to me like a bird call... and that's when I knew what I wanted to do...

Everyone started to suddenly move... "So, we are waiting for your answer?" The man who seems to be the leader of the board says.

As I hear the people at the back whispering and giggling like little gossip girls... I sighed and gave them a confident smile. "You see..." I babbled about how our company is a good and sure way to invest... honestly it's not about the facts people are following...

You just need to say something confidently and in people's eyes, it will look as if you are telling the truth... that's why many people believe false advertisements and propaganda... the people doing it are just so confident at persuading that people think they are right...

Everyone's eyes light up.. standing up as they clapped for me... They liked my presentation... I jumped inside of my head but retaining a composed smile.

FLASHBACK END

"See I told you the pendant worked!" I hear Sungah shouting on the phone.

"I think Grace could have done this even without the pendant... right Grace?" I hear Greg's toning he seems to be talking to me directly...

"I didn't use the pendant.... thank you guys for the help though. But I know I'm an independent woman... and I'm a force to be wrecking with..." I said to them proudly...

"Well, finally that's over and done with. I hear Louie's voice coming close to the microphone. "Grace... this should be your only struggle for today... I'll handle all the paperwork of my company.. so send them to me via email understand?" He said.

"Alright then... I'll handle the paperwork in my company as well." I said.

"Uh... hate to like break this to you guys... but Grace has an appointment... a dinner... with the company... and I'm a little worried because Louie isn't exactly the people person..." I hear Sungah flustered...

"What? Don't worry about it. I'm sure I can handle it..." Louie said timidly...

"Anyways I'll go ahead and handle the paperwork here... I'll call you if I have some issues and such... goodbye..." I hang up...

POV: Louie

"Well.. don't be worried about the company dinner... It's not like my life is at stake at it..." I giggled...

I mean how could dinner be that bad... it's not like it's life or death or anything...

"I'll need to finish quite a lot of paperwork. So I don't think this company dinner thing is something to be worried about..." I said to them confidently... although I am a bit nervous... I don't talk to anyone unless if it's for business... how am I going to talk personally to them...

"Also... in 2 days.... You have that charity for that place in the mountains where they couldn't reach the food... You'll have to plan that as well..." Sungah reminded us.

"Wait! CHARITY? YOU MEAN I'M GOING OUT TOMORROW? Where in the mountain exactly? HOW AM I GOING TO DO MY PAPERWORK FOR TOMORROW THEN?" I screamed panicking...

What is Grace thinking... a charity IS SHE KIDDING ME. HOW DOES SHE EVEN HAVE THE TIME TO DO THESE KINDS OF THINGS.

"You see Grace felt pity for the people in the secluded places of the country... they need to explore and travel long miles just to go to school.. and they don't really have the best condition especially in ways of living... that's why... Grace really wanted to help them..." Greg explained...

"Do we need to take the airplane or can we travel there by car?" I asked them."By car... although it will take quite a long time to go there... so we'll have to wake up very early..." Sungah explained.

"CAN'T WE JUST SEND FOOD TO THEM... I don't want to go there... I hate like children... and I hate people... especially people that aren't related to business... I'd rather stay here and do my work thank you very much."

"I don't think Grace would like that... honestly, she wanted to see the smile of the children and the people." Greg said to me...

CAN'T SHE JUST COME HERSELF... WHY DO I NEED TO GO THERE...

"ALSO IF THIS WAS LIKE SOME BIG EVENT.. Why do you guys HAVE NO PLANS SO FAR." I yelled at them.

"Actually we were supposed to plan about it... like during the weekends but who knew that this thing would happen.... like you guys switching and stuff... who knew it would take that long... so like ya we weren't really able to plan.. since both of you guys have so many issues..." Sungah giggled.

"Why can't we just cancel the charity.. I'll tell them t-" I then heard a knock from the door. "Enter." I said to the person on the side.

"Uh sorry to disturb you Ms. Baltazar but we received the children's letters from the mail... and it's here..." He then gives me a box containing a big pile of letters... "Thanks..." I said timidly...

"Also I'm really happy that you chose to help these people.. That's really why I love working for you, Ms. Baltazar. Nice talking with you." The employee then leaves...

WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS PILE OF LETTERS...

"Oh.. one of them fell off..." Greg bent down to grab one of the mail that must have fallen down.

"Dear Ms. Baltazar... thank you so much for giving happiness to my family... I love you..." Greg reads the letter aloud showing me the kid's drawing of a heart with a person seemingly looks like Grace...

"I don't think these children would be pleased if you canceled it." Sungah burst out laughing...

I tried to held back the tears... BUT DAMN IT! OKAY... I CAN'T CANCEL THIS... DON'T I... I AM SO GONNA LOOK LIKE A JERK IF I CANCELED THIS... MAKING GRACE'S REPUTATION RUINED. UGH... WHAT AM I GOING TO DO NOW...
