Max was at the public library with some friends in a study group, refreshing their memory on Math equations and science vocabulary before the new school year, his last school year, yes you guessed it, he is going to become a Senior high school student this year.
He glances up from the notes in front of him and notices a small guy walking up and down the aisles as if looking, no not looking anymore but searching for a specific book and then he pauses.....looking slightly up as Max was guessing the "little guy" found the book he was looking for. Max realizes the "little guys" dilemma in height and quickly walks over to help him out not really thinking about it, he ends up right behind the guy, towering over him in an instant.
As soon as Max is right behind the "little guy", "he" turns around hitting right into his chest, well he was wearing a T-shirt, but it hugged his built chest nicely and loose-fitting jeans. Just as soon as Nancy bumped into him she was about to apologize when he beat her to it and quickly explained he would help "him" get the book. Nancy tells him the name of it and it surprised him since it was kind of a thick book that seemed to be too much for a 'middle schooler', he thought. He gives the book to the "little guy" standing beneath him and before he can say anything else the "little guy" says thanks and quickly excuses himself, finding a nice bean bag in the corner to sit in and enjoy her book.
***********
Max just gets more and more drawn to the "little guy". He almost went straight to "him" to find out more about him before being drawn out of his thoughts by his friends. He went back to review more, subconsciously glancing back at the little guy, noticing that all this time he never seen his face as it was hidden behind the cap all the time. Thoughts filled Max's' mind like, 'how old was he, where did he come from, is he just visiting' and before he knew it, it was almost closing time for the public library. His friends asked if he wanted to shoot some hoops, but he said no as soon as he saw the "little guy" was smiling contently in the bean bag chair while reading his book.
