Chapter 22 She Will Be Mine Sooner or Later (Part 6)

Ji Anning had no say in whether she was willing or not; he dragged her away, giving her no chance to refuse.

Under everyone's watchful eyes, Qi Helian dragged Ji Anning away.

"Young Master Ji, I've brought the person for you," said Qi Helian as he brought Ji Anning onto his turf and presented her in front of Ji Chicheng.

His narrow, phoenix-like eyes looked at Ji Chicheng with a smile that wasn't quite a smile, which seemed ambiguous no matter how one looked at it.

Young Master Ji? Ji Anning's pupils dilated to their fullest in an instant as she looked up and saw a familiar face.

The man's deep black eyes gazed at her, and they were so profound that it was impossible to gauge what he was thinking or feeling at that moment.

Ji Anning stared in shock, with only three words filling her mind: it's over!

Seeing Ji Anning's dumbfounded expression, Qi Helian laughed leisurely, "It seems you two know each other."

Not surprised in the slightest.

"Want to be a big star?" Ji Chicheng looked at Ji Anning expressionlessly, taking in her red eyes and disheveled long hair, his hands stuffed in his pockets, clenched into tight fists.

Ji Anning lowered her head, silent.

She wanted to say no, she didn't want to be a big star, she just wanted to earn some money, save some money.

But what was the use of explaining to him?

Deflated, she awaited her fate, when Ji Chicheng's cold voice echoed above her, "Why not go directly to Qi Helian? You two know each other, don't you?"

At that, Qi Helian frowned, "Wait, do we know each other?"

He bent down and looked up at Ji Anning, scrutinizing her face.

Suddenly, he remembered, pointing at Ji Anning with a surprised mouth agape, "Is this... Jingfeng's wife?"

Ji Chicheng's originally stern face turned as black as the bottom of a pot in an instant, "Qi Helian, didn't you want to shoot a film?"

The cold aura made Qi Helian shiver, and he promptly shut his mouth, sitting down on his lounge chair, leaving the space open for Ji Chicheng to scold his niece-in-law who had sneaked out to be a stand-in actor.

He watched with the attitude of someone enjoying a good show.

Ji Anning kept her head down, never daring to look up, feeling the icy gaze of Ji Chicheng upon her.

She didn't know whether to stay or go.

Sure enough, as soon as this guy returned, her bad luck followed.

She'd been an extra, a stand-in for over two years, undetected; but as soon as he came back, she was about to be exposed.

It seemed their destinies were naturally at odds.

Ji Anning bitterly smiled.

The silence was oppressive, making Ji Anning feel incredibly stifled, her hands nervously twisting her skirt.

"Qi Helian, for my sake, give her the lead female role," finally, Ji Chicheng spoke, his head turned towards the lazily reclining Qi Helian, his indifferent demeanor hiding a brewing anger.

Upon hearing this, Ji Anning looked up at him and shook her head, "No... Uncle."

He had always looked down on her for being weak, and now that she was working outside as a stand-in actor, he must find her even more disgraceful to the Ji Family. It was clear that he was truly angry.

But she couldn't let him tell the family; otherwise, she would really be done for. With Grandfather's temperament, she would never have the chance to set foot in a university again.

The old man would have her marry Jingfeng and have children right away.

With these thoughts, Ji Anning, unable to care about much else, took a step forward, her hands clasping Ji Chicheng's wrists as she pleaded desperately, "Uncle, I know I was wrong, truly, I know I was wrong, please don't tell Grandfather."

Her already reddened eyes grew even redder, and tears began to well up.
