Chapter 46: An Unexpected World for Two (Part 2)

Ji Anning curved her lips slightly and nodded gently.

Actually, she wasn't eager to attend any events; she disliked the kind of superficial interactions where smiles did not reach the eyes.

But she knew the position Yang Yufang had always held in the family. Now that Grandpa had actively encouraged her to socialize, Anning was happy for her too, so she couldn't dampen her spirits.

"A lousy event from the Culture Bureau, what's there to participate in?"

Ji Ruoqian held her chin high, looking disdainfully at the mother-daughter duo of Ji Anning and Yang Yufang, "They are all prissy officials without real power."

"Exactly."

Ji Xiangting chimed in as well.

Having been silent, Ji Chicheng suddenly stood up and left without giving anyone at the table another glance.

Watching his tall figure depart, Ji Anning suddenly remembered something, "Mom, I'm full, I'm heading to school first."

She hastily bade Yang Yufang farewell, then she stood up, left the dining room, and caught up with Ji Chicheng's steps, "Uncle."

Ji Chicheng turned around slowly upon hearing Ji Anning call him, his expression indifferent.

"The dress, should I wash it for you?" Ji Anning asked with a pleading smile.

She hoped he would say there was no need and that she could just hand it over to him as is.

The dress she had taken off the previous night turned out to be Chanel, worth over thirty thousand. Taking it to the dry cleaners would probably cost her the equivalent of running minor roles five or six times.

"You keep it and wear it," said Ji Chicheng indifferently.

After saying this, he turned and walked straight toward the main entrance.

"I don't…" Ji Anning watched his noble and tall figure, something came to her mind, she hesitated, her eyes immediately dimmed, and she changed her mind, "I will wash it thoroughly for you."

In the Ji Family, she had long been trained to be immune to all poison.

Yet, Ji Chicheng always found a way to provoke her pride, even a mere glance from him was impossible to ignore.

Ji Chicheng paused in his steps, his hands hanging by his sides; his fingers slightly bent.

Self-control was always the hardest to maintain.

"As you wish."

His voice was cold, void of any warmth. After speaking, he lifted his foot and walked away heavily, disappearing from Ji Anning's sight.

...

Having classes in the morning, Ji Anning sent the dress to the dry cleaners and then headed straight to the classroom.

"Ji Anning."

Just as she reached the staircase and was about to go up, someone suddenly called her from behind, a crisp female voice.

She stopped, turned her head in confusion to look in the direction the voice came from. A tall girl in a gray sports outfit walked toward her with her head held high.

"Bai Guo."

A trace of surprise flickered across Ji Anning's face, then she slightly narrowed her eyes, wondering about the other's intentions.

"Let's talk about Jingfeng,"

Bai Guo walked up to Ji Anning and stated her business directly, "I've been with Jingfeng for three years, to be exact, we've been together for five years. He loves me, and I love him."

She tilted her chin slightly upward, her face full of confidence.

Ji Anning scoffed coldly, "Ha, if you love each other so much, then you should go find him. What are you doing coming to me?"

She could understand their love for each other, but she was not so open-minded about being disturbed.

As she spoke, she coldly turned and continued upstairs.

"He doesn't love you, you should be aware of that, you should let go."

The tone and the presence were even more domineering than Ji Ruoqian's.

Ji Anning stopped but did not turn around, she said to Bai Guo with her back toward her: "As long as he says he doesn't want me, I have no objections."
