Chapter 47: An Unexpected World for Two (Part 3)

Seeing her still with that attitude, a hint of hatred flashed in Bai Guo's eyes, "You are now just relying on the fact that his mother likes you and supports you, but do you think that means anything? Sure, his mother has spent her whole life as the Ji Family's second young mistress, but hasn't she always been unable to show her face in public or step into the limelight? Your end will be just like hers."

Upon hearing this, Ji Anning's face darkened. She turned around, glaring furiously at Bai Guo, and sneered coldly with one corner of her lip curled upward, "Bai Guo, just on the account of your disrespect towards my mother, I would never willingly let go and allow you to be with Ji Jingfeng."

She was actually taken aback that Bai Guo could say such a thing, completely overturning her impression and imagination of a scholarly family.

In response to Ji Anning's attitude, Bai Guo laughed instead of getting angry.

"Ji Anning, I checked the hotel's surveillance videos yesterday. You came out of Room 804. Before you came out, a man wearing a hat and a mask came out of that room. So you also did something to betray Jingfeng with another man."

After saying this, she crossed her arms and looked at Ji Anning with an air of triumph, as if victory was within her grasp.

Ji Anning's complexion changed, and her heart trembled violently.

Startled for a moment, she came to her senses and shook her head in denial, "I don't understand what you're talking about, I haven't come out from any room."

She tried her best to suppress her nervousness, but the guilt in her eyes could not be hidden.

Bai Guo gave a cold laugh and spoke leisurely, "It doesn't matter if you don't understand, as long as you know in your heart. I advise you to just let go peacefully. You may be able to continue living a life of glory and wealth in the Ji Family."

As she spoke, her expression suddenly changed, and her tone turned sharp, "Otherwise, I'll show the surveillance to Jingfeng's grandfather, and you probably won't be able to bear the consequences, and neither will your biological parents."

Her words struck right at Ji Anning's weak spot. Her heart twitched faintly, and her face turned pale.

Bai Guo didn't seem to be lying; she really must have the surveillance footage.

With pictorial evidence, Ji Anning felt she was without excuse. Now either she did as Bai Guo said, or she waited for her to show the surveillance video to her grandfather. Either way would not bode well for her.

"The surveillance from that time slot at the hotel is now in my hands. I've already had the hotel's footage deleted. I'm giving you forty-eight hours to think it over. By this time on Saturday, I want your answer," Bai Guo delivered her final ultimatum to Ji Anning, then turned and left without looking back.

Ji Anning stared blankly after her, then suddenly leaned against the railing beside her, slumped down slowly, and sat on the stairs.

The sanitarium was like a villa, surrounded by green plants, with birds chirping and flowers fragrant, filling the air with a scent of freshness and nature.

Ji Anning stood at the entrance, gazing inside, where patients in hospital garments strolled casually, some seated in wheelchairs.

Unbeknownst to her, tears welled up in her eyes.

"Miss, who are you looking for?"

Perhaps she stood there too long, so the elderly gatekeeper came out and asked her kindly.

Ji Anning hurriedly pulled herself from her gloomy thoughts, sniffled, and gently shook her head, "Looking for no one, just taking a look."

As she spoke, her gaze deeply swept over the yard again before she turned away, disheartened.

A round-trip of over six hours by car, yet she didn't even have the courage to step inside. It was her own uselessness.
