Chapter 54: An Unexpected World for Two (Part 10)

This was a luxury hotel beyond five stars, resplendent in its lobby. As soon as Ji Anning stepped out of the elevator, she saw Ji Jingfeng sitting on a sofa in the reception area, a lit cigarette clamped in his hand.

A look of surprise flashed in her eyes. When had he started smoking?

The Ji Jingfeng she knew didn't smoke or drink, was hardworking and diligent, not owning a single flaw normally found in young masters.

In less than a week, his image had been completely overturned in her mind.

Had the old Ji Jingfeng found it very tough to keep up the act?

"An'an."

As Ji Jingfeng was flicking the ashes, he spotted Ji Anning. He quickly threw the half-smoked cigarette into the ashtray, rose, and walked towards her.

Ji Anning pursed her lips and said faintly, "Let's go."

She could feel how repressed and helpless Ji Jingfeng's smile was.

But, that had nothing to do with her; she hadn't clung to him. He wanted to be the obedient child his mother and grandfather envisioned, to have the position he desired.

She had her own concerns, her own desires.

Now, they were both selfishly thinking about themselves, and she always felt that being a little selfish wasn't wrong.

Ji Anning walked ahead, Ji Jingfeng followed with a step between them.

"An'an."

Ji Jingfeng suddenly lengthened his stride and reached out to hold Ji Anning's hand.

Without any hesitation, Ji Anning shook him off, "Jingfeng, save the acting for home."

Her tone was neither cold nor warm. After speaking, she lifted her foot and walked towards Ji Jingfeng's car without looking back.

Ji Jingfeng watched her cold departing figure, a hint of disgust flashing through his eyes. He looked down at the hand he had used to hold Ji Anning, almost wishing he could chop it off.

...

The car drove into the yard and stopped steadily. Ji Anning opened the door and got out, Ji Jingfeng followed close behind.

At the doorstep, Ji Jingfeng reached out and took Ji Anning's hand.

Ji Anning's hand instinctively jerked back.

Just then, someone came out of the house, and fearing that others might notice, she did not struggle further.

Two tall figures walked out one after the other, Ji Anning and Ji Jingfeng both turned their gaze towards them.

Seeing who it was, Ji Jingfeng nodded politely, "Uncle, Helian bro."

Ji Chicheng and Qi Helian, stood shoulder to shoulder on the third step above them, one with a slight smile and one with a gloomy expression.

"Yo, where are the lovebirds off to?"

Qi Helian stared at Ji Anning and Ji Jingfeng's joined hands, his phoenix eyes slightly curved, his smile meaningful.

After he spoke, he turned to Ji Chicheng beside him, "Chengcheng, it looks like in a few years, you'll be a great-uncle, grandfather's generation, staying with you will age me too."

He pouted, his feigned expression making Ji Chicheng want to punch him.

The hands Ji Chicheng kept in his pockets clenched into fists. He stepped forward, walking through the space between Ji Anning and Ji Jingfeng.

Before Ji Chicheng came down, Ji Anning realized he seemed unwilling to detour and intended to cut through them, and promptly let go of Ji Jingfeng's hand to make way for him.

After Ji Chicheng passed, she turned her head, furrowed her brows, and glared fiercely at him.

Domineering guy!

"I'll go ahead."

Qi Helian, watching Ji Chicheng's furious figure, suppressed a laugh, greeted Ji Anning and Ji Jingfeng, then lifted his foot and chased after him, "Hey, Chengcheng, wait for me."
