Chapter 55 Reluctant Cohabitation (Part 1)

He chased out of the yard before he finally caught up to Ji Chicheng and leaned conspiratorially into his ear, "The couple seems quite happy, how can you as an uncle be so heartless?"

Ji Chicheng shot him a cold look, "You know nothing!"

A sinister light flashed through his dark eyes.

Qi Helian shivered from the cold and immediately skirted the topic, "There's a play tomorrow night that I'm in."

"Hmm," Ji Chicheng nodded, indicating his agreement.

Seeing him agree so readily, Young Master Qi felt it was not satisfying enough and added with a curved phoenix eye, "Kiss scene, bed scene."

Upon hearing this, Ji Chicheng turned his head and gave him a cold smirk, "I know you cherish your life very much."

"..."

"Anning, you're back."

Seeing Ji Anning and Ji Jingfeng return, Yang Yufang rushed forward excitedly and happily.

"Mom," Ji Anning called out softly, her heart a tumult of emotions.

Now deceiving her like this with Ji Jingfeng, she really didn't know how to face her.

"You child, when you were with Jingfeng you should have called me; you nearly drove me to my wit's end," Yang Yufang scolded affectionately, barely hiding her delight.

She had always hoped she would end up with Ji Jingfeng, always tried her best to be kind to her from a young age, but they were destined to let her down.

Thinking of this, Ji Anning guiltily lowered her eyes, "Sorry to have worried you."

"Alright, you look tired," Yang Yufang observed Ji Anning's complexion and said with concern, "Go upstairs and rest a bit longer, I'll come and call you for lunch."

"Okay," Ji Anning gave Yang Yufang a smile and then headed upstairs.

Ji Jingfeng followed closely behind.

"An'an."

Upon reaching the top of the stairs, he continued to follow Ji Anning to her room door.

Ji Anning stopped, looking at him impatiently, "I'm tired, I want to rest in my room for a while."

"Alright," Ji Jingfeng pursed his lips, nodded, and then slowly withdrew his extended hand.

Ji Anning reached out to turn the door lock and gently pushed open the door.

Suddenly, she turned her head and looked at Ji Jingfeng, "Jingfeng."

Ji Jingfeng stopped, turned around, and gave a gentle smile to Ji Anning, "What is it?"

"Three years ago…" Ji Anning paused her words, then continued, "That fire, why did you save me?"

Ji Jingfeng was taken aback.

Seeing his hesitation, Ji Anning curled her mouth slightly and said lightly, "You don't have to answer me, it doesn't matter anymore."

Then she turned, entered her room, and closed the door.

She turned and leaned back against the door, slowly squatting down, embracing her knees.

So tired! Really so tired!

"Look at you, you're sweating profusely from just this short time, you really need to train,"

Yang Danning carried the tennis racket on her back, wiping the sweat off Ji Anning's forehead while complaining about her poor fitness.

Ji Anning rolled her eyes at her, "Thanks for your concern, Miss Yang, but I'm not planning on doing physical labor; why would I need such good stamina?"

Originally it was just an ordinary weekend, yet this girl forcefully dragged her out of her house.

But truth be told, having Bimeng at home and constantly dealing with Ji Ruoqian and the others was not preferable.

"By the way, how are things going with you and Ji Jingfeng now?"

Yang Danning suddenly asked Ji Anning.

Ji Anning feigned confusion, "What do you mean 'how are things going'?"
