Chapter 57 Forced Cohabitation (Three)

"Ji Anning, where are you going?" Yang Danning hurriedly caught up with Ji Anning, gripping her wrist to stop her from leaving.

Ji Anning, not understanding Yang Danning's actions, blinked in confusion, "I'm going to the dorm to take a shower and change clothes before heading home. What's up with you?"

"Right now, call your uncle and invite him to have dinner together tonight," Yang Danning said straightforwardly.

'Pfft.' Ji Anning chuckled, then held back her laughter, pointing at herself uncertainly and asking Yang Danning, "You want me to invite my uncle to have dinner?"

Is that a joke?

Doesn't she know she's almost insignificant in the Ji family? What makes her think she could invite that haughty and proud uncle?

Miss Yang really thinks too highly of her.

"Yes," Yang Danning nodded, "absolutely sure."

'Heh heh' Ji Anning scoffed twice, thought about it, and laughed again, "Heh heh, don't be funny, you'd have a better chance if you invited him."

"I'm a girl, I can't be so forward at the beginning. I need to be demure," Miss Yang suddenly lowered her head and acted coyly.

Miss Yang needs to be demure? Ji Anning thought that this was the funniest joke she had heard all year.

She couldn't help but laugh.

Yang Danning reached out, hugged her arm, and pleaded, "Please, help me invite him, please, dear Anning."

Having no other option and guessing that she wouldn't let it go without a try, Ji Anning thought it over and nodded, "Fine, you won't give up until you hit a wall."

As she spoke, she pulled out her phone from her pocket, opened the phone book, and then realized she didn't have Ji Chicheng's number, "What's his cell number?"

"You don't even have your uncle's number? You're really not doing a great job as his niece-in-law," Yang Danning criticized Anning while digging through her bag for her phone.

Damn, she's just a niece-in-law; is it necessary to know her uncle's cell number by heart?

Ji Anning rolled her eyes at Yang Danning.

As soon as she got Ji Chicheng's number, she immediately dialed it.

Hearing the 'du' sound, Ji Anning's instinctive nervousness about Ji Chicheng came rushing back, her heartbeat quickened.

It took only two rings before she heard a voice on the other end, but the person did not speak; she could only feel his breathing, slight as it was.

Thinking about the purpose of the call, Ji Anning was extra nervous, as if she were the one making the arrangement. Holding the phone with both hands, she tried to make her tone sound crisp, "Hello, uncle, it's me, I'm Anning."

"I know." The man's voice was consistently indifferent.

But still so pleasant to hear.

He knows? Ji Anning was momentarily surprised, then quickly got to the point, "Uh... I heard you've taken up a position at T University. Could we have dinner together tonight?"

"Wait for me right where you are."

Uh!

The man's casual remark made Ji Anning pause, her heartbeat undergoing subtle changes in that instant.

Wait for him right where she is? Does he know where she is?

Her gaze blankly swept around the area, and as she brought it back, her peripheral vision caught a glimpse of that familiar tall figure.

Approaching leisurely toward them.

White long-sleeve shirt, black suit pants, his entire attire exuding nobility and elegance along with his unique aura of defiance.

Ji Anning's mouth hung open in surprise, disbelievingly, and it took her a moment to respond. She uttered an "Oh" into the phone, and then realized Ji Chicheng had already hung up.
