Chapter 58 Reluctant Cohabitation (Part 4)

He said he'd wait right there for me, but what does that mean? Did he agree to have dinner together tonight, or what?

If he did agree, why?

Could it be because he had already seen me with Danning? So he agreed for Danning's sake?

But that doesn't make sense either. The clothes of various women in his wardrobe prove that he definitely has a girlfriend, and they're already living together, so he probably doesn't like Danning, right?

Or could it be that he wants to play the field, to have a foot in two boats?

Although, from what I understand about him, with his simple lifestyle and a bit of a neat freak, he doesn't seem like that kind of scumbag, but other than that, I can't figure out why he would agree to the date so readily.

"See, I told you it would work if you asked him out." Yang Danning watched Ji Chicheng approaching, so excited she didn't know what to do, clinging to Ji Anning's arm, her infatuation written all over her face.

My train of thought was interrupted by her, and pulling back my gaze, I glanced at her sideways, "Yang Danning, where's your reserve?"

She's clearly not a reserved person, yet pretends to be demure. Made me ask out that arrogant guy who walks with his nose in the air.

Made me so nervous, my back was sweating.

"Oh." Miss Yang suddenly remembered she is a lady and should be reserved, quickly retracted her hand from holding Anning's arm, and smiled demurely at Ji Chicheng who had already arrived in front of them.

Her cheeks were still tinged with a faint blush.

Witnessing her unusual change, I silently rolled my eyes in my heart.

This girl could be an actress, she might even win an Oscar if she went into show business.

"Brother Chicheng." Yang Danning softened her voice as much as possible while greeting Ji Chicheng.

The corner of my mouth twitched. Love is indeed powerful; it could even turn the tomboyish Yang Danning into someone so pretentious!

Too feeble to complain, I better make myself scarce. I can't be a third wheel, or she'll certainly scold me for not being tactful after dinner.

Thinking this, I looked at Ji Chicheng with a beaming smile, "Uncle Ji, I just remembered I have something..."

Before I could finish, Ji Chicheng suddenly spoke up, cutting off my voice, "You have some money burning a hole in your pocket and want to treat me to dinner?"

He raised his brow slightly, his dark eyes cool, giving no hint if he was teasing or joking.

I'm internally hemorrhaging!

He clearly knows my situation, so how could I possibly have surplus money? He's doing this on purpose.

And he's doing it with such earnestness, what a male green tea!

In my heart, I cursed Ji Chicheng countless times, but my lips remained pursed, not daring to even glare at him.

So cowardly, I now realize how weak I am.

"Haha, Anning is paying; I'll make sure to eat plenty then."

Miss Yang immediately declared her position, siding with Ji Chicheng, and helped him to gang up on me.

I went stone-faced, gritting my teeth in secret, stretching my hand behind Yang Danning and pinching her butt really hard.

Yang Danning flinched in pain, but still managed to keep a lovely smile on her face.

In front of the man of her dreams, she must stay graceful.

"Alright then." I agreed helplessly, "Where do you want to eat?"

The restaurants near school are all mid-to-low end, so it wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg.

I just didn't really want to have dinner with Ji Chicheng; I always felt uncomfortable around him.

After thinking for a moment, Yang Danning said, "Let's go to the Western restaurant at the East Gate of Ronghui Plaza. I've been there once before; the ambiance is pretty good."

Ronghui Plaza… Western restaurant…
