3: Utterly Unbelievable

Alya has an unbelievably strong grip which surprised Marinette. She wasn't expecting her best friend to pull her out of the classroom on a whim.

"Alya, wait.."

When they were just about at the comfort room's entrance, Mari and Alya could hear an irritated voice that sounded like the person was complaining.

"Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!" yelled the voice.

Mari and Alya stopped outside the door upon hearing the anger.

"Chloe, you have to calm down."

"Calm down? How am I supposed to calm down Sabrina when that Kagami is all over Adriekins?!"

Sabrina tried to settle Chloe over and over, but Bourgeois was enraged. An enraged girl isn't something you could easily calm down.

"For once, I find Chloe's reaction more realistic than yours." Alya leans on the wall and glances at Marinette.

Marinette smiled, "Right? I'm surprised to see myself this calm too."

Alya stuttered, "Marinette what happened to you? You were Adrien's number one fan right? You liked him more than ever right?"

"But that doesn't give me the right to be angry because he likes another girl." Mari replied strongly.

Alya didn't know how to respond to that. Mari was right but she just couldn't help seeing her so down. She wanted Marinette to release all of her pent up feelings, but she guessed Marinette had things figured out the moment she decided to speak to Adrien this morning.

"Actually Alya, I got a message from Kagami last night. She invited me to hang out after school."

"What did you say?"

"I consented to it."

Alya's heart sunk.

"Why are you doing this to yourself girl?"

Mari smiled, "I want to push my heart further."

"The hell is that?"

"Let's just say I want it to reach into a breaking point that I'll feel so hurt I'd finally be pushed to forget about him." Mari's voice started to shake. She could feel her eyes warm up slowly welling up. She tried opening her mouth to say more but a lump of air in her throat kept her from speaking.

She inhaled sharply and looked up to the ceiling convincing herself she's alright. Alya couldn't do anything but stare at her best friend who is too selfless for her own good.

"You reckless girl." Alya pulls her in for a hug.

Marinette laughed receiving the warmest embrace she had ever had. A tear or two might have fleeted down her cheeks but it did not matter anymore. Her resolve was intact. All that's left is for her to meet Kagami later.

Class went by quickly. Marinette could not focus on a thing either way and would occasionally stare at Adrien's back from behind thinking what might happen once she meets Kagami. Alya would often catch her sighing and then making a face but catching herself back up. It was unbearable.

The moment the last subject ended, Marinette immediately stood up and fixed her things.

"In a rush?" Adrien turned around noticing her quick movements. The room was filled with mindless chatter the moment the class dismissed.

"Ah yea. I have to be somewhere after this." Marinette stuttered and went on to sliding her things in to her bag. "Well I better get going." She slips the strap of her backpack on to her shoulder.

Adrien stops her, "Where is it? Maybe I could give you a ride. I don't have fencing classes today anyway."

Ah..no wonder Kagami was free.

Mari smiled, "No, it's alright. It can be walked from here. Bye then!" she politely rejected and ran out the door.

"Wow, she rejected you. That's a first." Nino commented as Adrien's eyes trailed after where Marinette went.

"If I were you, I'd stop offering rides to girls." Alya stopped beside their seat suprising the two boys.

"What's wrong with offering Marinette a ride?" Alya's statement irritated Adrien a bit.

Alya stared at the naive lad. She felt a surge of anger build up to her chest but she immediately exhaled it out. "You wouldn't want KAGAMI finding out you're being too friendly to other girls." Alya replied and immediately left. Her emphasis on Kagami's name felt like a hundred boulders heavier.

"Nino, Alya's in a bad mood is she?"

Nino sighed and patted his shoulder, "Let's go and forget about this. Your driver's waiting downstairs right?"

"Ah yea."

Although Adrien wanted to let it go, his mind wandered off to how Marinette was acting a bit weird towards him.

"Does Marinette not want to be my friend anymore?" he thought to himself.
