Fleeting dream

Yanyan was hugging Ye Shuxin even in the car until they got home.

"Master Jin, what should we do with Wei Zhou?" Haofan, the butler who was assigned to imprison Wei Zhou asked.

"Fire her. She is not allowed to step in this household anymore."

It wasn't because of what happened. The reason why he decided to fire Wei Zhou was because of her character. Her character was not good for Yanyan.

After giving that order he went to check on his daughter.

Upon entering the room, he saw Yanyan with the woman who deceived him, embracing each other.

Ye Shuxin wasn't asleep so when she heard footsteps approaching, she looked at him.

They ended up staring at each other. Staring had become their form of communication. He looked at her like her head became transparent and he was fascinated by an object behind her skull. His eyes that she once fell into as her salvation instead turned her stomach every bit as badly as meeting a stranger after dark. Those long looks were how he told her of his bitterness,

She was the first one to break their staring contest by looking at Yanyan. She made sure that she was asleep before she placed her teddy bear, making the child hug it instead of her.

"Let's talk in my study. Follow me." Jin Mingze said in a whispering voice.

He turned and left the room.

Just like what he said, Ye Shuxin obeyed. She got off the bed and left Yanyan's room.

The moment Ye Shuxin entered his study room, she finally opened her mouth. "I will leave today."

She has already made up her mind earlier while she was in the car.

If she stayed any longer, it would be harder for her to leave Yanyan.

She believed that Yanyan will easily forget her after a few days since they were only able to be together for two days.

"I thought that you wanted to leave after a week?"

"I also thought so." Ye Shuxin sighed. "But the more attached Yanyan gets to me, the harder it is for her to let go. If she looks for me now, just lie to her."

"You want me to lie to my daughter?"

"Do you want me to stay here?"

Jin Mingze became quiet, not giving her an answer.

"I thought so." She chuckled a bit. "As for the divorce papers, you can just send it to me anytime you want."

"Alright." He was supposed to feel glad but what was this sudden heaviness on his chest?

"Ah... I guess this is my shortest marriage life." She chuckled a bit. "I should go and pack my things now."

Since Jin Mingze didn't stop her, she headed straight to her room.

While she was packing, tears started falling down from her eyes. Leaving was killing her soul as sure as a dagger can stop a beating heart. It wasn't easy to leave even when it's the only option available.

She was only able to have a taste of the life she wanted for two days. Two-fucking-days.

She wasn't even able to spend any money. Go shop the things that she wanted to have.

This life became a fleeting dream again.

She failed in her plans. It was her fault, she was not careful enough. She was stupid enough to forget one part of her plan.

Attaining her dream, getting rich at once was sure hard. It looked like in the end, she really has to work for it instead.

She tried to take a shortcut but look at what it got her... heartache.

...

The first thing that Yanyan did when she woke up was to find Ye Shuxin.

When she didn't find her in her room, she went to look for her father's room.

"Daddy..." She peeked in the room, hoping to find Ye Shuxin there.

Jin Mingze was sitting in the middle of his bed, reading a book when he suddenly heard his daughter's small voice.

He turned to look at her, "Yes?"

Yanyan entered his room and climb on his bed, "Where is mommy?"

"She..." He paused. He suddenly remembered Ye Shuxin's words, telling him to lie to his daughter. "She went to work."

His daughter ended up pouting her lips, "Mommy went to work? Without saying goodbye to Yanyan?"

"She said that it's important." He reasoned out.

"When will Mommy come back?"

"I don't know, Yan'er. She didn't tell me."

Yanyan ended up puffing her cheeks as she hugged her teddy bear tightly, "Mommy said that she won't leave Yanyan."

"She has to go to work."

"But still..."

He sighed heavily. He closed the book he was holding and placed it on the side before he went and pulled her in his arms.

"It's almost time for dinner." He tried to change the topic. He stood up, carrying his daughter in his arms, "How about I cook for you tonight?"

Yanyan's eyes sparkled excitedly, "Grilled mackerel!"

"Okay, let's have grilled mackerel tonight."
