A short while later, Kiba had somewhat recovered from his anguish.
"Nii-san why did you come over?" Asked a curious Mei.
"I was going to help you with testing out your 'babies', but I think I'll take a backseat for now and just give you some tips on how to improve them"
"Nee-san let's show him the 'double jump boots'." suggested Rina, wanting to show off their creation to Kiba.
"Okay, let me present the Hatsume Enterprise's first official creation 'Baby number #7'!" Said Mei whilst pointing towards the red boots on Rina's feet.
"There she goes with that horrible naming sense again." Groaned Kana. "A better name would be 'Super bouncy Baby of Wind thrusting propulsion #2'." She suggested with a proud look on her face, unaware of her equally bad if not worse naming sense.
"Ooh, that looks cool did you get the idea from one of those retro platformer games?" Asked Kiba, ignoring Kana's awful brand name for the gadget.
'Damn how did he know?' thought Rina, not knowing that platformers were still around 200 years into the future when quirks and heroes filled up all the entertainment genre.
"Umm... what's that?" She asked, trying to sound as confused as possible.
"Oh, your parents don't let you play any games, do they? I'll tell ya' what when you come over to my place and I'll let you try some old school games." Kiba said excitedly. [ A/N: FBI 'PUT THE LOLI DOWN SNIPE!' ]
"Nonononono, I won't have you corrupting my precious princesses with your filthy otaku ways!" clamoured Shino, being ignored by everyone.
Ignoring Shino's woes, Kiba suggested that they go to the garden to test our the boots.
Once they were in a large clearing Rina jumped once before a gust of highly pressured air formed a platform of sorts for her to be propelled even further into the air, which made her appear as if she jumped on the air.
Looking at the results in front of him Kiba was shocked. "Y-y-yo... YOU KIDS BUILT THIS?!?!" Kiba stuttered in shock before yelling at the top of his lungs due to the sheer shock he was experiencing right now.
Noticing that his outburst had startled the two children he calmed down and regained his bearings.
"Do you know anything about the hero 'Gran Torino'?" Kiba asked the 2 children to which they replied that they have not.
"His quirk works pretty much the same as those boots you've made here and that was enough to let him be known as the fastest pro hero, even after he retired." Kiba told them, awed at the 2 absolute geniuses before him.
It has to be known that the world's most advanced technologies in quirk development and support gears are made by the illustrious I-island.
The boots that the girls have made, whilst unrefined, were capable of standing up to some of the tech that is seen as top of the line.
Just the fact that the gadget can emulate one of the best speed type emitter quirks out there, albeit at a lower level, was enough to be shocked by, even more so when you take into account the age of the ones who made it.
Deciding to put an end to his thought processes, he began explaining who 'Gran Torino' is and what he knew about him.
"He can fly and move faster than the eye can see, the way his quirk 'jet' works is that it gathers the air from his lungs, compresses it and expels it from the soles of his feet. An analogy for how it works can be water shooting out of a showerhead." He explained.
The girls thought about the explanation they had been given and realised that they could potentially equip any hero with speed equal to or surpassing the current fastest hero, making them both shocked and proud.
Pulling out his smartphone he searched for a video of Gran Torino's fights against villainy, needless to say the girls were both shocked and inspired.
Seeing how the old hero would dissappear from his location and instantly reappear behind evildoers, giving them solid kicks to the back of their heads inspired the girls to further improve their gadget.
Taking into account the fact that the boots that Kiba was so shocked by were mere faulty prototypes of a flying device, they decided to keep that knowledge to themselves.
They could decide to mimic the 'jet' quirk to give the boots the ability to fly and move faster that the eye could see but there was an issue with the boots.
The current issue with the 'Double jump boots' wasn't that they were faulty or that they blew up like most of Mei's babies did.
Instead the problem was the cooldown time inbetween each double jump due to the relatively slow speed that the vents on the sides of the boots collect the surrounding air molecules and compress it.
There was also the problem with it's inefficient use of the stored air. Gran Torino could use a single breath of air for much longer than the boots could. This is due to the fact that the vents were cheaply made and were reused from an old electric fan, if top of the line parts were used there would be no telling how advanced this gadget could be.
'Maybe I can make something similar to that old guy's quirk where it uses the breath in his lungs as a fuel source, maybe I could have my babies use canisters of pre-compressed air or lower the air collection speed to make it virtually instant.' Thought Mei, already forgetting the name of the hero.
[ A/N: had to put in the fact that she can't remember most names ]
Rina instead had a different line of thoughts.
'Damn, I'm so stupid. How did I forget about gran torino? If we can replicate his quirk we can make gadgets that can emulate other quirks like Endeavor's flames or Eraserhead's quirk nullification. Possibly even one for all or all for one.'
Going over her memories of different fictional equipment and concepts that are similar to the 'double jump boots' she soon came across a pair of high tech rollerskates from a certain anime
