Roommates 8.2

"Well look at you two. Getting friendly I see." Mike was outside the bar, smoking, when he saw Nathan and Lexie arrive in a motorcycle. It had been a while since he saw Nathan drive his motorcycle, he usually just get a ride from Kaylee or he'd commute. Nathan glared at Mike, making him laugh.

"That was so much fun!" Lexie exclaimed as she got down from the motorcycle, removing her helmet. Nathan turned to her to take the helmet, her eyes were so bright, she was smiling brilliantly. Her expression stunned Nathan, this was the happiest he have seen her.

Mike watched Nathan as he stared at Lexie who was smiling brightly up at him. Once again he burst out laughing. The sound of his laughter made the two look at him, confused.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I was just… thinking how funny things could turn out sometimes." Mike was still laughing as he threw his cigarette on the ground, stepping on it then went back inside the bar.

"Sweetie how are you?" Jen moved to Lexie as soon as Lexie entered the bar. Jen's hands were raised, signaling a hug and Lexie moved closer to her, accepting the hug.

"I'm okay." She answered.

"Are you sure?" Jana asked.

"It was awful what happened to you." Britt comforted. She and Jana stood behind Jen, looking at Lexie with so much concern.

"Really guys, I'm fine." Lexie tried her best to ensure them.

"So how was last night? Are you two getting along?" Kaylee asked loudly, pointedly looking at Nathan and Lexie. She was sitting on a stool, legs crossed, she raised an eyebrow teasingly.

"You're staying with him?" Jana looked at Lexie, bouncing with excitement.

Mike once again burst out in laughter as everyone else, aside form Kaylee, looked at Nathan and Lexie with wide eyes.

Lexie spent the whole afternoon cleaning around the bar, and also answering questions from Jana.

"What happened?" Jana was peering behind Lexie.

"Nothing happened!" Lexie was laughing at Jana, nosy girl.

"Where did you sleep?" She wasn't giving up.

"On the couch." Lexie turned to look at Jana who was still expecting some juicy information from her.

Lexie just laughed and continued on what she was doing.

By around 8pm, the staff sat around the corner stuffing their faces. Kaylee ordered take out. They were exhausted but contented, the bar looks great, even better than it did before the break in.

Kaylee updated everyone on what happened.

The two men who broke in still haven't been caught, but thanks to Lexie's description the police were able to make a sketch. Kaylee passed around two pieces of paper with the faces of the men.

"I think I know those two." Jana chimed, looking up at Kaylee who nodded at her.

"Yes, those two are customers so we may have seen them around before. Memorize their faces, let me know immediately if you see any sign of them." Kaylee announced.

Apparently, the two men wasn't able to take much money from the bar. Kaylee doesn't leave that much cash in her office, she usually have it with her so she can deposit it to the bank the next morning. They made up for the lack of cash by taking a few bottles of booze. Kaylee went back to the bar yesterday after dropping Nathan and Lexie off to do an inventory check. She was able to get the lock to main and back door changed, she also added an extra lock. She handed everyone a new set of keys making sure to warn Lexie not to lose this one. Kaylee also had the cctv cameras replaced as the two burglars destroyed the one's they had. Lexie looked up looking at the cameras, she almost forgot they had those.

After their meal, everyone started cleaning up after themselves and got ready to go, they were done for today.

"Lexie, can I have a word." Kaylee motioned for Lexie to follow her.

Lexie walked behind Kaylee to her office. "Yes?"

Kaylee walked to her desk, grabbing something from inside one of the drawers. Lexie froze when she saw what Kaylee was holding.

"At first I thought this belonged to the burglars but then I thought, maybe it was yours." Kaylee was holding out Lexie's phone.

Lexie stood, looking at the phone. Oh no. Did Kaylee open it? That phone held so many information about Lexie, the messages, emails, pictures. What does Kaylee know? What had she seen?

"Lexie?" Kaylee watched Lexie as she stared at the phone, her brows furrowed. "I've been quite lenient with you, you know that right? Now I don't really get involved with peoples personal life, especially yours, I let you work here without even knowing much about you, to be honest I'm not even totally sure if the name you told me is your actual name. You don't have to tell me everything, anything. I just wanted to say that if you do have something you want to tell me, then you can just say it."

"Uhm.." Lexie cleared her throat and looked up at Kaylee, not knowing what to say.

"I didn't go through it, if that's what you're worried about. I don't like going through other people's personal stuff." Kaylee was still holding on to the phone. "It's yours right?"

"Oh, yeah. It's mine." Silently, Lexie let out a breathe of relief. She held her hand out and Kaylee handed her the phone.

"What's going on here?" Nathan suddenly entered and Lexie quickly hid the phone in the waistband of her underwear before Nathan noticed.

"Nothing." Lexie answered, her voice shook a little, she cursed herself internally.

"I was just checking on how she's doing." Kaylee answered nonchalantly, leaning on her desk.

Nathan looked at the two, he looked at their faces back and forth in the end deciding not to ask anymore. "So, are you done? I wanna go home."

"Oh yeah, I could drop you off." Kaylee stood, gathering her things.

"Not necessary, I brought the bike." Nathan pointed his thumb over his shoulder.

Kaylee looked at him, an eyebrow raised questioningly. Nathan just shrugged. "She wanted to." He pointed his thin at Lexie.

"It was so much fun." Lexie was now smiling widely at Kaylee.

Kaylee just laugh as the three made their way outside.

After locking up and saying goodbye, the staff each went their own way.

"You good?" Nathan asked over his shoulder.

Lexie adjusted the phone to her back as to make sure that Nathan wouldn't feel it. She nodded then realized that Nathan couldn't see her. "Yep." She called out.

"You better hold on or I swear to god kid, you will have to walk home." Nathan warned before driving.

Lexie just laughed as she placed her hands lightly on Nathan's waist, already loving the wind that was blowing on her face.
