Endorsement or interview?

That night Genesis went to sleep while thinking of her parents. She regretted not spending her time with them wisely.

Flashback***

Genesis age: 15

"Gen, why is our father angry again?" Ethan asked. Genesis was looking at the garden below her where her mother was taking care of the plants with a few servants. Her eyes were cold and distant and her face was blank.

"I will go speak with him. You stay here." Genesis ordered him. Ethan rolled his eyes. "I don't understand why you always act like this. It's not fair that only you get to be homeschooled. Ugh, I hate going to middle school." Ethan complained.

"Brother, If I could trade my life with yours-" Genesis was interrupted by Ethan's eye roll. "I get, you won't ever trade it because you are doing this so I don't have to do it." He mumbled with guilt. Genesis sighed. "I will be right back." She told him and exited the room.

She walked down the empty hall in the direction of her father's study room. On her way there she was attacked. The arrow that was sent in her direction was stopped by her bare hands. Her lips twitched and she got rid of the arrow right away.

She sighed and continued walking to her father's study room. She knocked on the door twice. "Come in." Her father replied. Genesis entered not sure as 'who' her father was talking to her.

As her father or as her teacher. As a father, he was caring and gentle, overprotective, and loving. But as her teacher…..

The same thing went with her mother and her aunt Grace. They were all gentle and loving but during her training, they were completely different people.

Genesis opened the door and she bowed before her 'teacher'. Her father looked at her and his expression softened. "Come here, sweetie." He called out and opened her arms. Genesis lifted her eyebrows in surprise and she immediately ran to his arms. She hugged him tightly and took in his warmth. Her face brightened and her mood was lifted when she hugged her father.

"Princess, I'm going on a business trip okay? Attacks will be more regular and drills will be performed twice a day." He informed her and still held her in his arms. Genesis closed her eyes but she could imagine her expression at that moment.

"You don't like it, I know you don't like it either but it's for your good. You have always been so weak since the day you were born. There were so many complications with your health." He led her to take a seat. Her head leaned on his shoulder and his arm was wrapped around her protectively.

"You were so tiny when you were little and you would get sick almost every day. Me and your mother were so worried about you. You are our firstborn and soon enough you will inherit everything. Although our business is doing just fine you must be prepared for anything. Traitors are nothing new."

"It's not just the company. Many people will want to harm you. They will use your soft heart to their advantage. I'm not saying that it's a weakness. You still need to learn how to protect your heart at all costs. Don't let it be hurt our damaged alright?" He asked and she nodded.

He laughed when she snuggled deeper into his embrace. "Father, will you ever tell me….." Genesis hesitated before looking up at her father. "Will, you ever tell why do I have to protect myself so much?" She asked and her father's mood dampened.

He sighed. "I will tell you in the future. When you are ready that is. When I tell you can you promise me something?" He asked. Genesis nodded.

"Trusts us and never leave us. Your mother, your brother, and your aunt Grace and your uncle, we are your family. Never leave your family. That's all I ask." His father told her and caressed her small innocent and angelic face. Genesis smiled. "Why would I ever leave you guys. I love you all and I will always come to your side." She answered confidently.

"Alright then, this is your promise."

*****End of flashback

Genesis shifted to the other side of the bed and sighed. She opened her eyes and walked to her kitchen. She poured herself some cold water and drank it. In the end, she took some pills for her headache and she attempted to fall asleep again but it was very difficult. She felt so empty. She felt it so unbelievable that her parents were gone like that so quickly without any warning. For the first few weeks after they were gone she thought that she was living in some other dimension, It simply seemed impossible to her.

She had never undergone such a huge loss. It made her lose all her rationality. Genesis looked at the clock and she recognized how late it already was. Since she couldn't sleep she decided to work. She understood this was not good for her but she didn't want to have a nightmare or anything associated with her parents and her past.

'Gen, relax. don't think about it. You have work tomorrow and can't be all depressed.'

.....

Sitting in her chair in her study room Genesis halted her movements on her computer. Despite all the conflicts, challenges, and betrayals she's remaining strong. After everything that has happened in such a short time, she's persisting and becoming a better version of herself. In a way this made her feel proud. At some point, she never imagined that she would be able to ever get over it. She presumed that she had succumbed and that she would never be able to rise again.

She breathed and checked her email. To her surprise, the person she wants to give the endorsement to didn't reply. Genesis shook her head and groaned. "What to do to persuade you?" She gaped.

This person, matched to Kara would lose in popularity. On the other hand, this person would guarantee more profit. Genesis started re-writing the email again. She went into deeper explanations about how this would benefit them in business but it would also help them in other areas such as the image of their company and want they stand for. Their intentions as to why they would be using the plastic that ends up on beaches and how they would get in contact with various activists and groups that worry about the planet.

Although the person she messaged has a company herself in this particular situation, this person would be working with her. They would be working based on their friendship instead of partnership between businesses.

Genesis crossed her fingers and sent the email. This friend of hers would surely accept the deal if it didn't have anything to do with Kara. It so happens that this person doesn't get along well with Kara.

Genesis was aware that some rivalry between these two people might happen but she looking at a bigger picture. She had planned everything well and this would benefit everyone. Not only in their business but much more.

This project would help some people but there would be disadvantages as well. She had made sure to add that in the email as well. If in the end this person still doesn't answer then she would just have to bargain with Kara.

'Wait a second….' Genesis halted her thoughts about the endorsement and focused on Kara's little secret. "What are you going to do Kara?" Genesis uttered.

"The endorsement or the interview?" She giggled. She stretched her arms and couldn't stop her laughter from rising.

"This is becoming more and more interesting."
