John stared at the scene in front of him with a dazed look. In Lance's memories, he's seen this place but it was only close up and not the whole image. Right now in front of him laid a city that looked like it's from a sci-fi movie.
Extremely high skyscrapers with flashing holograms in the sky as far as his eyes could see. He could even see vehicles flying around In the air!
"Welcome back to Southern Magic Association!" Michael said as he flashes john a giant grin.
John didn't know how to respond to him and he was still trying to believe what he was seeing. So he just nodded.
"is it really ok for me to just leave without telling anyone?" John asked.
"It's fine. I've sent someone to handle it for you." Michael smiled and responded.
About 45 minutes ago John made a big mistake and his acting backfired on him. Michael dragged John out of the house and every excuse he came up with didn't save him from being put into a helicopter. They then landed in the middle of nowhere.
For the first time, John felt real fear. He had somehow allowed a stranger to drag him out into the desert. Thankfully nothing bad happened, yet...
Michael proceeded to draw a strange diagram on the ground around them, then he cast a spell making the diagram light up. Just like that John was brought into this scifi land.
John had so many questions regarding the things he's witnessing but he decided not to ask. The reason was that he didn't want to seem completely clueless.
When they arrived they were on top of a pyramid-like structure in the middle of the city. John could see many people walking around and doing their business just like a typical city in the US.
Michael led John to a parking lot where a few men in black suit waited for them. They then got into one of those flying vehicles and drove off.
It was a strange feeling being in the car it felt like a helicopter but much more stable and quiet. John was very curious to know how this technology was possible.
"Your curious about this aren't you" Michael suddenly said. "Well, these vehicles aren't really made with modern technology. They used magic runes to operate and mana as fuel. Basically, they are like those witch brooms."
John was amazed by this explanation. It seems like magic isn't just used for fighting.
The duo arrived at a magnificent looking building. Michael then said, "Welcome to the Main tower. This tower is the very heart of the city."
The car then landed on one of the middle floors of the tower. This floor looked like a hanger with many other flying cars parked there.
"We are here to see your master," Michael said as he led john into an elevator. "He was really worried about you and he blames himself for letting you go alone. I just want to let you know that. "
John was now curious about how John died. In the memories, it didn't really show how he died or any of the events leading up to that.
The elevator doors opened and they stepped into a giant penthouse. Inside it was very luxurious and well decorated. The view outside was extraordinary from the floor to ceiling windows. John could observe the breathtaking skyline from here.
"Master!!" Michael shouted, "I brought a surprise for you!"
"Will you stop being so loud" a voice drifted over. The old man in pajamas walked over from a side room.
John immediately recognized the man from lances' memories. He was an old man John had seen teaching lance the fireball skill.
The old man seems to freeze when he saw John. He then said in a soft voice, "Hello. Should I call you John or Lance?"
"It's me, master," John said emotionally then he walked up and gave the old man a big hug. At this moment John didn't know whether it was faked or not, he just did it out of impulse.
The old man seems surprised but he smiled. He said, "come on, come sit down."
The trio sat down on the sofa and the old man ask, "So, are there any side effects?"
John explained to him exactly what he told Michael, the old man didn't look surprised at all. It seems like he's already expected it, making John's life easier.
"You really should've stayed hidden as a regular person." The old man said with a sigh.
Before John could reply, Michael said, " I told him that too but he begged me to bring him back so I had no choice."
'wait! wait! beg?!! When did that happen?! You Liar!" But all John could do was forced a smile. "I just can't hide like a coward."
