Quick profits.

Alrighty then, time to see the people I saved. They are still hiding in the carriage, probably hoping that I just leave the place. But too bad for them, this "hero" has come to greet those poor souls he saved.

I get into the carriage, which, by the way, is completely covered from the outside, and it looks pretty expensive as a whole, so my guess is that whoever is in there definitely has some cash.

Time for my heroic appearance.

"Is everyone alright? I got rid of those nasty thieves who ambushed you, so you don't have to be afraid anymore." I put up a very comic-like act, to make those guys think that I'm easy to control, and then I'll use that to get an upper hand on them.

"May God bless you, my savior." He's a man, around 40 years old, and clearly not the fighter type.

"You are being to nice, Sir." I said in a manner that would suggest that I did this for free.

"Young man, no need to be so shy, I always repay my debt, so tell me how much you would like to be played, at least as a service fee." After I acted like a shy guy, he decided that it's easy to make me set the price, and he expects me to charge very little because of my shy nature.

"You keep your promise, you say?" I push on, and the way I said it, he will think that I reluctantly accept the so called "service fees".

"Indeed, young man." And there we have it. I just made him promise that he will give me however much I set the price. And you should also know that in this particular world, people get punished with a decrease in the luck stat when the don't keep their promises. To increase their luck, however they have to complete the amount of promises equal to current luck status times 10.

Let's assume that your luck is 5, which is the default amount everyone is born with. That means you would have to complete 50 promises to raise it to 6.

I asked Lime, to check if, in this world, people keep their promises, and that is the exact explanation I got.

"Well of you insist, then the fee I'm charging for my services is" And I take a pause as if thinking about how much I want. In reality, however, I have planned this whole scene the moment I killed the second thief.

"5 gold coins." I finished the sentence.

"That's a small price to pay for my lif----" And in the middle of the sentence, he realized what I said and was dumbfounded. He sat there with his mouth open for a few more seconds, and then asked me to repeat what I said, probably hoping that he just misheard something.

"The service fee is 5 gold coins, Sir." After I say that, I also smile, in the most friendly way I can, eyes closed and all.

After I still get no reaction out of him, I change my impression to a more serious, and slightly threatening one.

"Didn't you promise, old man? Or do you plan on giving up your hard earned luck?" I say in a slightly deeper tone that usual.

"You damn bastard, you just played me all along, didn't you?" He said as he pulled out the money from his pouch.

"I have no idea what you mean, dear Sir." I say in the playful tone and with a smile, like the first time.

"Now get out of my cart, and I hope we never meet again." He said as he chucked the coins onto the floor.

"That's not how you're supposed to treat your dear savior, is it?" I try to anger him more, but he doesn't react, so I decided to leave him as is.

Ah, I think now is a good time to familiarize you with the currency system of this world. The cheapest is the copper coin, and 100 of those make a silver coin. 100 silver coins make a gold coin. 100 gold make a platinum coin. There is also one more tier, but only certain people know about them, and I'm not one of them.

With the newly earned 5 gold coins, I'm going to register in the adventurer's guild. Before I go into the building, I have to make sure that nobody else enters, because with my body build, which doesn't look too impressive, I will most definitely run into someone who tries to pick on me there.

There is only a single old man sitting there right now, and I have Lime on standby outside, so that if somebody does come in, she will give me a sign and I can just sneak out of here.

Alright, everything is ready, time to enter the guild.

I walk towards the registration counter at a pretty fast pace, but not fast enough to make me seem like I'm in a hurry. A lady is watching me approach with a conspicuous face, as if questioning whether someone of my age can be a good adventurer. I approach her and put a gold coin on the table.

"I would like to be registered as an adventurer, and i would like my identity to be hidden." As I said that, I nudged the golden coin towards the registration lady. It's actually against the rules of the guild to keep you information hidden, but with a bit of bribery, anything can work.

She looked at the gold coin in shock for a second, and right after that quickly pulled out a crystal.

"Please put your hand on the crystal, and your guild card will be created." I did as I was told, and after a minute of waiting, some text appeared on the guild card, with my stats, skill, and all the other information you could think of.

The lady looked even more shocked than after I gave her a gold coin, so my status must have something special about it. I hope.

I grabbed the card and quickly left the building, and once I was finally inside my room, or rather, the room I'm renting at the inn, I take a look at my information card.
