Lots of responsibility, little time.

These choices are alright. Hmm, according to this notification, these are the only evolutions that will be able to hold up to my conditions. The conditions are, firstly, that I am a human. Humans have a small number of evolution trees, to begin with.

The other limiting factor are my extremely high stats, and since most creatures aren't powerful enough to withstand those stats, that only leaves me with three choices.

Also, the body has to be able to use the skills I have. Humans are naturally able to use almost all skills, but other races are not. Luckily, titles are not race-specific, so at least that doesn't affect my choices.

To make matter worse, the descriptions are very vague, so I just have to go by my gut feeling.

So, those are the options:

[High Frog] - The highest evolution of a frog. Bears the ability to emit all matter apart from fire. It is the best race at compound creation. Can use Deform. It is one of the few races able to use Extract. It is the only race able to use Modify.

[High Human] - The one and only direct evolution of a human. Just like a human, but with no limits.

[Demon Lord] - The highest evolution of a demon, however, it is obtainable by any race. It is the strongest race in existence, but unable to leave the Demonic Kingdom. It is one of the few races able to use Tame. It is the only race able to use Command.

First of all, I'm definitely not taking the High Frog. No real reason not to, I just don't like frogs. High Human sounds like a great race, but it's probably the most boring thing you could think of. As for the Demon Lord, the limitation is too much for me. The last thing I want is to be bound to a single area.

I drunk a [potion of recovery], so now I have some extra time to make the right choice.

"Blood, those choices suck. I think I'm gonna have to remove [chilling touch], and maybe then something better will pop up." I didn't want to do this at first, but I just want to have a race I'm content with, even if it costs me a skill.

"Go ahead, I haven't seen you use it much lately anyway." He's right.

In the bracelet many, I clicked on Chilling Touch. [remove] and [evolve] are my options. I clicked remove and opened up the status once again.

Nope, nothing new. In that case, there is one more thing I can do for a chance to get a new race.

I went back to the bracelet menu and clicked on Portal Scroll, but this time I chose to evolve it. I read the description of both choices. One was the same portal spell but I could select any person in a 10km radius to take along with me.

Of course, that could be very useful, but I'd rather take the second option, which offered nothing new but a small tweak; it removed the mana-cost, making the spell free to use.

"Here it is, the final check. [Status]." I called the menu, and, reluctantly, looked through the available evolutions.

"Yes! There's a new one now." I read the description with high hopes.

[Weak Shade] - The weakest evolution of Shade. Unable to use mana, and is extremely weak against spells. Unable to use ordinary spells and elements. It is the only race that can use Black Spawn. It is one of the few races able to use White Spawn.

"Hehe, I was hoping to get a mysterious race like this one all along." There was almost nothing you could guess about the race by reading the title or the description, and the fact that it was "Weak" meant that there were further evolution branches to take.

"Oh, you got something interesting? Mind telling me what it is?" Blood got curious and pulled his head out of the sleeve.

"It's called [Weak Shade]." As soon as I said those words, the menu closed down and everything started turning white.

Oh, so it seems like I'm about to pass out again. It might take me a while to wake up, but I was excited to see the upcoming changes. With an excited expression full of expectation, I fell to the ground.

~~~
"What? Where am I?" My words spread with a reverb, echoing as if I was in an endless cave.
I looked around. White space. Everywhere. Why am I here, and what do I need to do? I felt a sudden urge to go in a direction, and my body started to float towards something. There was nothing in sight, but I felt like I needed to get to "it" no matter what, like my life depended on it.
I kept floating in space, determined to reach whatever it was, but noticed something in the corner of my eye. A door?
"Oh, wait. I remember now." Memories of this place flooded into my mind at the sight of the door.
The place I feel a need to go to is a door to my consciousness, and once I go through it I will wake up once more. All the previous times, I urgently left the space and came back to my senses, by right now I'm absolutely safe, with no immediate need to wake up.
"This might be my only chance." So I can't miss out on taking it. Having made the decision, I floated towards the door. Or did the door float towards me?
I heard a voice behind it. Two people? Maybe it was a single person talking to himself, or a whole group of people. Or maybe those were just voices playing on a recorder.
I decided not to stall the events any longer and slowly creaked it open. I peeked around the corner of the wooden door-frame.
