Get the Doctor!

"I..." She wasn't sure how long they've been making eye contact with each other, but she was sure about one thing; his heart hadn't calm down the slightest bit. As his heart created its own mixtape, he allowed her to be his only fan to listen to this record.

Sucking her lips inwards, she ran her tongue over her lips; imparting a moist sheen to it. "I can't promise you anything right now because it wouldn't be fair to you. If I gave you a yes, it wouldn't be truly from my heart. I just woke up, and everything feels empty to me."

Lowering her gaze for some seconds, she released a soft sigh. She raised her shoulders as she inhaled a breath and let go of her tension. Exhaling the deep breath, she looked back at him with a lopsided smile.

"To be honest, your confession did move me. Exactly because you meant the words that you've said, it makes my answer extremely important. And that's why I can't give you a half-hearted answer. I respect and appreciate your feelings for me, but I can't take responsibility if I don't feel that way towards you."

"Like you said, we've separated for years and you just found me. There could be changes within these years and our mindsets are different now. Can we take things slowly? Let's give each other some time to get to learn more about the new us. Can we start off as friends first?"

"Jason?" She tilted her head when she finished speaking her mind and waved for his attention. The ear tips were still plugged into her ears when she moved around to get a reaction from him. Her body stiffened in the middle of waving as her fingers covered her ears to listen better. 'How come it's so quiet? His heart stopped beating!'

She looked at him and then at his hand that still hid under his shirt with the chest piece. Gasping, she hurriedly removed the ear tips and climbed off the bed; forgetting about her wounds. "Get the doctor! His heart stopped!" Her voice alarmed both men in the room.

Aaron almost made another run out of the room, but was stopped by Jason's response. "Huh? I'm fine."

"But your heart..." He only reacted when he felt her hands spreading his unbuttoned shirt. A small drip of tears wet the surrounding of her undereye as she blinked repeatedly. The chest piece wasn't pressing on his skin!

A few minutes ago, he had countless thoughts stuck to his brain while waiting for her response. 'She's most likely going to reject me because she doesn't remember anything right now. Actually, even if she did remember about me, she'd probably still say no. Well, it's not like her saying no would stop me from pursuing her. Hmm, but what should I do to make sure she stays with me? Should I ask to be friends with her first?'

As soon as he finished listening to her rejection, the fingers he used to hold the chest piece had shifted subconsciously. 'This is the first time a rejection actually feels good to my ears! She didn't find my confession annoying nor did she reject me straight up! If a stranger confessed to me, I would reject it. Hahaha, at least she's giving me a chance to get to know her. And she wants to learn about me too!'

Somehow, her rejection had made him happier than he thought it would. Snapping out of his daydream, he looked down to find two hands ripping his shirt open. After seconds passed and she gave no reaction to his words, he repeated himself. "I'm really fine."

Realization hit him when he caught the redness in her eyes. He scared her! It was the first day meeting her after these years, and he made her cry!

"If you're fine, then you should have said something! You scared me! I thought your heart stopped after I had rejected you!" Her palms slapped against her chest, making her hiss in pain.

"Ahhh...sss..." Her eyes squinted shut and hand formed into a tight fist. Her expression immediately twisted when the palm struck onto her wound; triggering sharp pain.

"Your wound! Aaron, get the doctor!" Hearing his boss' order, how could he refuse? This time, he really dashed out of the room and looked for the doctor. Jason sat on the edge of the bed and slowly pulled her hand away from her chest. At this precise moment, he could care less about seeing anything inappropriate.

"How could you forget about the injury on your chest? Does it hurt? Let me see if it's bleeding again!" Sniffles escaped her lips as relieved tears rained down her face. He couldn't tell from his angle whether the wound had opened or not. All he could do now was wait for the doctor to come and coax the girl in front of him.

"Whose fault is that? Who is responsible for this? You're the one who scared me! I thought you were dead all of a sudden! How would I remember about this wound when you.." Her voice rasped like a child who had her favorite toy taken away as hiccups interrupted every few words she said.

"Me, I'm responsible for you! It was all my fault! I won't space out anymore. I won't scare you anymore! Who thought a stethoscope could be this worrying? From now on, I won't use this tool anymore! If you want to hit yourself from now on, hit me. I'll be right here. Wait, no. Hitting me would mean hurting your hands. I'll hit myself as many times as you want."

Her various sized pear-shape teardrops formed a river down her cheeks, making his chest ache. Of all these years of working in the business field, he has seen plentiful women cry in front of him. None of them managed to make him feel as bad as he did now! As long as he could stop these tears from running like a waterfall, he would do anything!

Slowly, her breathing calmed and tears also stopped. Whenever she inhaled, he would follow along. He accompanied her breathing exercise until the doctor and nurses arrived. After the doctor came, Aaron and Jason were both thrown out of the room.

Minutes felt like hours in Jason's calculation. The number of times he had checked his phone was more than a week's number of missed calls from his mom. Aaron's lips formed a straight smile as he finally figured out his boss' weakness! 'Miss. Gu is impressive. I need to keep a good relationship with her for my own-... no, no! For boss' sake! Yes..Definitely for boss' sake.'
