Old Man

As a VIP member at the bar, Li Yi Wei and Isaac had no trouble getting past the guard. The second they entered, they could hear Kyla's loud voice asking about her chicken and waffles.

"Where's my chicken and waffles at?! It's not enough for you to take it and eat it? Now, you won't even let me order more?! Did you think my cards are gone just because you guys took one deck? I have more!" Like a magician, Kyla waved her hand in the air in a fanning motion. Seconds later, fifteen poker cards spread out like peacock feathers in her hands.

Her special cards were black with shimmer gold prints on it. Each card had her initials printed in script on it. Right when she was about to fling the set of cards out, she heard her fiancé's warning. "Kyla."

Assistant Li smirked when she heard his deep tone calling out his fiancée's name. 'Can you not spoil your fiancée like that? Calling her first name and not last name doesn't do justice here. She wrecked the bar and was about to make the whole building tumble to ashes.'

A bright smile sat above Kyla's chin when she heard his voice. Hopping down from the couch, she tossed away the cards in her hands as if that would erase all evidence of her misbehavior. Spreading her arms like a flying kite, she jumped into the man's embrace.

She blinked her sapphire blue eyes naively as she fell in a daze looking at her fiancé's sharp features. Curling up to his chest like a small kitten, she rubbed her cheek against his shirt and slowly closed her eyes. "Baby, you're finally here...They're bullying me…They took my chicken and waffles."

Alfred, Michael and Aaron almost puked blood when they heard her voice. 'Who was causing us trouble? You just scattered your poker cards to the floor to get rid of evidence!'

Isaac stared at Kyla who had already fallen asleep in his arms with a gentle smile on his face. Assistant Li had no patience to wait for Jessica to hop into her arms. Instead, she walked over to Alfred and asked bluntly. "Were you the old man who called me earlier? You have less than a second to get your hands off my young miss."

With a golden pen in her hand, she pointed the sharp end like an interrogative flashlight to his direction. She spun the pen a few times as a warning. Alfred stared at her in disbelief. "Which part of me looks like an old man? Anyway, which eye of yours sees me touching her? It's her who is hugging me right now! Arms and legs. See?"

"Is your body not touching hers? Did you not just reply to me? Are you not older than me? So, you're the old man who needs to return my miss." Assistant Li was famous for her sharp tongue. She was known for her crankiness when someone disturbs her sleep in the middle of the night. Even if the person was her boss looking for her, she wouldn't hold her fierce words.

Jessica scowled at her defiantly after hearing such arrogant words. She tightened her arms around Alfred, refusing to budge from her current position. Alfred shrugged and stared back at Assistant Li with helplessness scribbled across his face.

Breathing in a deep breath, Assistant Li decided to take physical action and tried pulling Jessica off him. While she tugged on Jessica's arm, she found her strength stronger than usual.

"No! I don't want to leave with you! You traitor! You only want to sell me out like my own mother! You are on her side! You're the bad person!" Tears rushed down her cheeks as her voice rasped miserably. Her cracked voice triggered Alfred's protective instinct. Though she was merely a stranger to him, he couldn't stand seeing her cry.

He could feel her fingers tugging his sleeves and hear the pain through her words. His arm raised, wanting to comfort her, but he had no right. He was a nobody to her. They weren't even friends. With that thought in his mind, he held back his touch and sat still as she buried her head into his chest.

Assistant Li promptly leaned her entire weight on her right leg and crossed her arms as she argued. "And how do you know he isn't a bad person? You're literally toppling a stranger you just met at a lounge."

"At least he isn't on my mother's side trying to sell me off to rich brats!" Jessie squinted in dismay when she heard her words.

Rubbing the side of her temples with her index finger, Assistant Li closed her eyes to suppress her anger. "It's not my fault I reserved the restaurant for your mother! I was only doing my job."

Jessica's lips twitched unevenly. "Oh? Then coming to pick me up isn't part of your job description. Why are you here? Just like helping my mom confirm the table reservation, it wasn't a part of your job description. You still did it. Shouldn't you be happy that I'm looking for a man to marry? This way, my mom can get off our asses and let me be who I want to be!"

"Did you think I wanted to be here? You don't know how much I wish I was hugging my bed just like how you are hugging this man right now!" Assistant Li could feel irritation sending millions of signals to her nerves.

Jessica smiled while tightening her arms around Alfred's neck. "Then you can go back to your bed, kiss your pillow and stay single! Hmph! Did you think I didn't know what's running in your mind? You want to get me married off and have kids! Why are you stopping me now? I found myself a trophy husband, and I'll marry him straight up. Shouldn't you be happy for me? I'll get married just like you guys wanted! At least with him I'll have my own lovable babies!"
