Make Way!

Jason watched as the vehicle drove farther away. Once the sight of the vehicle was gone, Jason hurried back to the hospital room where his team set everything up to track them.

From the hospital to the destination the anonymous man had requested to meet at would take a little over half an hour. Due to the rather isolated location of where they were scheduled to meet, there were many roads without cameras. This was an area where most gangster outbreaks occur. Hence, everyone had to be extra cautious when passing through certain streets.

While passing through one of the quiet roads, a group of gangsters with metal bats emerged from various alleyways. The leader of the gang had an x scar on his eye and a toothpick sticking out of his teeth. He spat out the used toothpick and slammed the end of the metal bat in his hand against the ground. "If you want to live, step out of the car!"

"Sir, we are not looking for trouble. I apologize if we intruded on your territory, but we are in a hurry to get somewhere. Please make way for us to pass through!" Eric gritted his teeth. If it was under normal circumstances, he would give them a piece of his mind. However, he cannot afford to get injured right now and must save his energy for a possible fight with their enemy.

"Does it look like I give one f*ck about why you are here? I'm telling y'all to get the hell out of your car! Do I look like I speak logic to you? Well, I do! I am the most logical person here. So, speak to me properly after getting out of your car!" The leader grimaced at the gradually darkening faces on Michael and Eric's faces.

"I will go. Wife, you stay in the car. Selina, you too. Michael, come with me since your name is quite popular in the underworld. They should back off after hearing your name." Eric unbuckled his seatbelt and smiled faintly at Rosanna.

Selina nodded to her dad's instructions. Though she appeared indifferent, Eric could see her hands gripping on her seatbelt.

"Okay, we are out of the car. What do you guys want?" Eric walked a distance from his car and asked the gang for their purpose.

Michael stood next to his dad as a sign of support. He rolled up his sleeves on purpose to expose his identity to the men blocking their way.

"Hahaha! So you are the legendary man in the underworld! Wow! What a great coincidence! But did you think I will give you face and let you pass without a fight just because of your identity? This is my turf you are standing on! So watch carefully as everyone listens to me. I am the boss here!"

The leader waved his fingers and laughed as his gang surrounded them. "Well, who is the boss now?"

Having to witness Eric and Michael being surrounded, Rosanna gasped horrifically. "How dare they?! I'll love to see who has the audacity to lay a finger on my husband and son! Selina, you stay in the car and lock the doors. If anything happens, save yourself and drive back. Mommy will go help your dad and brother deal with these hooligans."

"Mom! I-" Selina took deep breaths to calm herself down since her mom had already slammed the door shut by the time she tried speaking. When she left, the car automatically locked Selina inside. She closed her eyes and continued her breathing exercise.

"Hey, hey, hey! Who are you guys trying to scare off? Have you looked into a puddle and seen your own face? You dare threaten my husband and son?! Are you looking for a death wish?!" Rosanna crossed her arms and shoved several gangsters aside.

"Rosanna! What are you doing here? You should have stayed in the car!" Eric grabbed a hold of her wrist and pulled her behind him. Michael also shielded her using his body to make sure nobody makes a surprising strike on her.

"Oh my! You are .. Rosanna Clover? Please excuse my ill manners! I will have my men move out of the way for you! What are all of you nuggets doing?! How dare you block Mrs. Clover's path?? Move it!!! Make way!! Hurry up!" The leader's attitude turned a hundred eighty degrees.

Quickly, the group of gangsters formed a parallel line that was wide enough to let their vehicle pass.

"Was it this easy…? Or are they planning to ambush us as soon as we drive down the road?" Eric muttered as he gave his son and wife a glance. Michael shrugged in response and looked at Rosanna, who appeared even more puzzled than they were.

Rosanna scratched her head in confusion, not understanding how her name or face managed to make these gangsters form a line for her. However, their obstacle is now cleared. Hence, everyone got back into the car and quickly drove away from the site.

In the car, Rosanna was the first to notice Selina's pale complexion compared to before. Although Selina appeared more nervous earlier, her face now looked less rosy. Worriedly, Rosanna turned her head to the backseat and asked Selina if she felt alright. "Selina, dear. You don't look too well. Are you feeling ill somewhere? Do you need us to stop by and let you rest a little? Maybe some water may help?"

Rosanna brought out a bottle of water for Michael to hand over to Selina. However, Selina shook her head and whispered, "I just feel a little tired, that's all. I am fine. Let me take a ten minutes nap before we get to our destination."

"Okay. Michael, take the blanket from under your seat and cover her up with it." Rosanna returned to her original sitting posture, but her eyes would wander to the rearview mirror where she could see Selina's expression. She frowned at the sight of her daughter's exhausted face.
