Abandoned Building

Five minutes before the one hour deadline that the anonymous sender gave, everyone arrived at the destination. Grandpa Lun had arrived a little earlier than the rest of them. When Eric parked the vehicle next to Grandpa Lun's, they exchanged a nod as a greeting.

Rosanna looked at her watch and turned to the back where she reluctantly called out to Selina to wake her up. While she called Selina's name, Michael also patted her shoulder lightly simultaneously.

Perhaps Selina was fatigued, it took a few more calls and gentle pats to wake her up. "Are we here?" Her hoarse voice sounded as if she hadn't slept for three days and two nights from gaming and constant shouting that her throat dried up.

"Here, drink some water to stay hydrated. We are already here. If you are not feeling well, you must let us know at any time. Do you understand me? Selina, don't hide anything from us, okay? You're not alone now. You have a living being inside of you." Rosanna solemnly warned.

"Mm. I understand." Selina weakly smiled as her eye squeezed half opened at her mom. She seemed to be fighting her drowsiness off with every second she remained awake. Suddenly, Selina missed the naps she was able to take back then. However, their priority is to save Lia.

Therefore, she couldn't sleep any longer, or else it would delay their plans. She bit her lip until it shed a few drops of blood. Feeling the light stinginess, she started feeling more awake.

Everyone exited the car and observed their surrounding. While they were busy examining the environment, Grandpa Lun told them everything he found out about this place.

"There are no cameras in any buildings nearby and the surveillance cameras are shut off from the rest of the world. Whoever lured us to come here must have some ulterior motive. I've examined the area before you guys arrived. Besides, I also think I know who wanted to meet us." Grandpa Lun saved their time by providing them with the details.

Michael's attention was fixated on Selina whose fragile body leaned on the vehicle for support. Although her actions were small, he noticed it. He walked over to her side and held her arm. "Selina, are you sure you're alright? You don't seem to have the energy to even stand. Is your stomach hurting?"

Rosanna walked over to Selina's side and reached out to hold her hands. "Dear, your hands are cold. Are you feeling chilly? There was a blanket covering you, so how are your hands cold? You're not running a fever, but you do look a bit pale."

Her palm covered Selina's forehead to double check her temperature. Fortunately, she wasn't running a fever.

Selina smiled weakly and shook her head. "I'm fine. I just got out of the car too quickly and am having a bit of a blood rush to my head. My hands and feet are always cold, so this isn't anything new. Don't worry, I will be fine in a little while. Isn't time almost up? Should we go into the building?"

As soon as she said that, her phone chimed - a new notification appeared on her screen.

Selina commented, "Huh...Interesting enough, I have one bar signal. Somehow I still got the message."

She held her phone and read the message out loud for the rest of the group to hear.

"Welcome to your final destination! Since all of you have gathered on time, you should enjoy the moments you have left with one another. The garage door to the abandoned building is unlocked, so be the honorable guests that you all are and enter it. Remember, only the people mentioned before could enter."

The message ended there with no further instructions. Selina raised her head and looked straight ahead where a rusty red garage door could be seen with two long metal chains dangling on either side.

She muttered, "What is this? Does he think this is the Final Destination movie? Is he trying to make the Final Destination 6? That door looks so creepy as if it came out of a horror movie."

"We don't have much time left. Let's follow the instructions. Everyone be cautious." Michael kept rotating his head back and forth as they started walking forward.

A few steps before the group reached the garage door, Rosanna and Eric halted their steps. Rosanna turned around and spoke up. "Listen, I think our enemy's goal is not as simple as to having us all gathered here. Grandpa Lun, come and stand in the middle. Eric and I will stand in front of you while Selina and Michael will be behind you. All of us will surround you."

Grandpa Lun frowned when he heard her arrangement. "I know our enemy is the same person, but I cannot become your burden. If I stay in the middle, all of you may be in danger."

"It's not like we are safe if you stood in front of us anyway. Besides, if anything does happen, Michael can take you and Selina away. Remember what we agreed upon, Michael." Rosanna eyed Michael for a split second, receiving a nod from him as a response.

After rearranging everyone's position, Rosanna gave Eric the signal to proceed into the building. As the rusty door creaked open, the scraping metal screamed into their ears. Goosebumps formed as this long tormenting sound lasted for a minute.

"Let's go." Rosanna rubbed her ears twice more. As the group made their way into the building, they realized the building was vacant on the inside. The sight of mold-covered wood stacked like a pyramid and used old school desks that still had doodles engraved on its surface could be seen at the first glance.

Right after they entered, the door behind them closed by itself and the sound of metal chains rustling could be heard. From the sound of it, someone was outside and was trying to lock them in.

Michael turned around and dashed to the door where a distinctive clink entered his ears. His arms stretched to pull the handle on the door, but it did not budge at all. From pulling on the handle to pushing the door, he tried every possible method he could think of to open the door. Unfortunately, they were locked in from the inside.

"We're trapped. Now what?" Michael's hands sat on his hips as he turned around to face his family whose complexion wasn't any better than his.

Nobody spoke, only their breathing could be heard. Suddenly, a huge thud caught their attention. In a close proximity, a bloody figure fell from the ceiling. At that moment, everyone held their breath and forgot to breathe as their heart raced faster than a leopard fighting its prey.

From where they stood, the scene they saw were equivalent to blending raw meat without the blender's lid on - raw juice and meat were spread everywhere.

"Lia!" Selina whispered lowly at first, gradually calling out in a louder volume as she approached the unmoving figure.
