After Faith's laughing fit that always seemed to lighten the mood, I held her and released her only when Giles said he needed to know more about everything. I asked to speak to him in private then made it clear I'd only tell him once. After that he was to never ask again about our pasts. I told him things I'd been too terrified to tell a priest for fear they'd want to take advantage of me or us as well.
I told him everything in detail and when I finished, he'd had three very grim tapes recorded and poured himself a scotch. I declined the offer for a drink of my own saying I didn't drink often anymore. I'd smelled of cheap bourbon and regrets throughout my high school years until I was a junior and had my so called tragic accident that resulted in my death so Helena had curbed that part of me with Faith's help.
Needless to say his smiles were gone, his glasses were off and a stiff drink was in his hand when I left the office. He'd seen some of the scars both literally and psychologically so he knew there were no lies. He also knew the story of how we got to Sunnydale, why we'd come and what I wanted from him. With that he said he'd do some research after I gave him the spell I'd been using and we left his office.
Faith didn't say a word and offered my seat back. I sat down and wrapped my arms around her, holding her and relaxing as she stroked my arms. Xander spoke up. "So what's the what? We assembling on some vampire baddies or what?"
I raised an eyebrow and Giles told him. "I need to do some research into locator spells. Willow, I could use your help there."
I turned to the redhead before Giles asked to see the weapon that awakened my slayer power. Faith said they were gonna love it because it was wicked and it felt powerful, like it belonged to her and me. I held up my hand with my ring on it and the scythe appeared in it. I grunted. "The ring is some sort of magical storage device that stores our things now. Before it only had the weapon in it and it was found on me, a gift of sorts from whoever left me there or an inheritance."
I passed it to Faith who smiled at the feel of it. She passed it to Buffy. "Go for it B, let me know if you feel that extra special tingle cause damn it's powerful."
Buffy hesitated before taking it and her eyes went wide. I sighed. "So it works for all slayers then huh? Guess we aren't so special after all."
Faith shrugged. "You may not be, but I am."
I kissed her neck and she moaned a bit before saying. "No, I'm not the special one cause the way you do that…mmm, talk about low down tickle."
I grunted and stopped before Cordelia told us to get a room. Faith said we were fresh out of condoms so no room was necessary. Xander coughed and I sighed. "Forgive Faith, or not. I'd say she has a filthy mind, but that implies it's ever been clean. Her lack of tact however comes from not caring who gets offended about what."
Faith smirked. "Aww Sweetie, you know me so well."
I huffed. "I've lived with your underwear on the floor problem since we were high schoolers ourselves. I'd say I know you better than anyone alive and most dead as well."
She shrugged and said. "It wasn't my problem, I didn't have a problem with where I left them. Besides, sleeping in the buff is so much more freeing, especially when it's hot out."
I grunted and Giles cleaned his glasses before asking Buffy if it was like we described. Buffy nodded. "Except the tickle part. It's powerful and it feels…like it's mine."
She sat it down and asked. "Was there a note or anything?"
I shook my head. "No. I've worn the ring since I stole it back from my stepfather's safe just before the watchers council blew up the apartment. He used to-"
I shook my head. "He said it was from whoever abandoned me and was left on a string necklace. The funny thing is the necklace just dissolved the day Faith was called. It was like the ring was calling to me so when I put it on, that came out and I was called as well. I grew five inches over night and put on about fifty pounds of muscle over the next few weeks. Whatever it is, it supercharged my healing as well. Faith said she felt stronger using it and when we raced Kakistos the first time she buried the wood end in his left eye."
Faith smirked dryly. "Yeah, he deserved it, even more so afterwards."
I grimaced and she told them. "Oz here buried it in Kakistos's heart when he went all He-man on him a week later."
Giles looked it over and said it required more research. I shrugged. "Just so long as it comes back to me before nightfall. Last thing I need is for vamps to steal it from your office. Faith and I use it when hunting large nests."
He agreed before saying Buffy mentioned our financial and living situation. He said we could stay at his place for the time being while the council redistributes the funds they pay us. Buffy was scandalized. "We get paid?"
I snickered. "Not enough. It's for watchers mostly to help with our training and make sure we have a place to stay that vamps can't kill is in our sleep at. After that there's barely anything so Faith and I sort of rob the undead, dust their butts and pawn their stuff for food and fun money. Helps to unwind when you have money to do so."
Faith nodded. "Yeah, kinda miss the motorcycle though, even if I couldn't drive worth a damn. Still, loved the purr between my legs and the vibrations-"
I kissed her before grunting. "No more teasing the virgins for now. As funny as it is to see them blush, Xander's about to drool and Red looks about to burst like a tomato."
She rolled her eyes. "Whatever. Just cause you know how to use your mouth and magic…everything, doesn't mean I'll go quietly."
She stopped making references though and said she still missed it cause it was ours. I shrugged. "We needed the money and to stay under the radar to get the bus tickets here. If it helps, we'll keep the next motorcycle that comes along."
I gripped her ass and she wrapped her arms around my shoulders before Giles asked if it was too late to take back the room and board offer. I shrugged. "We could always take over one of the abandoned houses in town though the vamps still might be able to come in."
He didn't comment and said he had research to do before telling us to bring the scythe tomorrow and report on the patrol tonight then. Buffy said she had to have dinner with her mother and ended up inviting Faith and I over. We didn't exactly bring over a gift. I wasn't entirely lying nor truthful when I said all the stuff in my ring was gone. It still had some tech stuff I hadn't cannibalized for the ship and from what I could tell, the materials Chuck ripped out of my arms including the bone claws and everything that simply didn't grow back now, was infused into the scythe.
It's how Jack was able to infuse it with the ability to awaken my slayer lineage. I knew enough of how it was done so I wasn't surprised much when it'd happened. Still, I'd lost a fuck ton in that reality and that included the Uru, Vibranium and adamantium with the materials combined and all forms of it. All I had now was a crystal based laptop, some clothes that were three inches too big and that's pretty much it in the ring. Literally everything else had been used up or lost.
Still, small blessings to have what I did even if it wasn't much. Faith and I headed to Buffy's house for dinner and met Joyce. She was surprised to hear two new slayers existed and one of them was rare. Faith told her that I was a unicorn alright, rare as a twenty leaf clover or whatever.
Joyce asked about things and I left it to Faith until Joyce tried to shake my hand. Faith took over and grabbed her hand, saying I didn't like to be touched by others and it wasn't an insult to her, just a problem I had with everyone in general. Joyce nodded slowly and we had dinner, ignoring the fact that Buffy and Joyce went into the kitchen to talk.
It was good free food and right before patrol as Buffy called it. When we patrolled, I hunted which was different. I brought down four vamps, beating the last of them unconscious and breaking their necks before taking their cash and dusting them. Faith and Buffy saw it and Faith stopped Buffy from interfering, telling her I needed to blow off some steam before bed or I'd feel restless.
The brutality of the beating I served up made Faith tell Buffy I was an animal in the sack and a gentleman on the surface unless I'm touched. I'd given the last vamp a pavement facial for good measure before dusting them since I had their wallets. Faith and Buffy came over and Faith asked. "Feel better?"
I nodded. "Much. They were four of the six we were hunting. Two more and it's done."
Faith nodded. "Good."
I tossed the wallets after emptying the cash and bank cards. We stopped by the nearest ATM and made a withdrawal of two grand before we hit a nest by the graveyard and I passed off the scythe as the three of us brought down seven vamps together. I curb stomped the last vamp's head off using a grave stone since Buffy used the scythe to dust three vamps of her own while Faith took down two with a stake and I took out the last two after robbing them.
They had a few hundred on them so I offered the cash to Buffy. She raised an eyebrow and said they likely took it from their victims. I shrugged. "Their victims are dead, we're alive and while slaying isn't a real job, it can pay. It's not like we're robbing people who need the money. Vamps aren't people and being dust, they don't need the money. Besides, it's better for the economy if we keep the money and put it back in circulation."
Faith told her to take it or she would so Buffy did and I pulled away before we could touch. Faith took the cash, apologizing for me and handing Buffy the cash. We left after Buffy handed back the scythe and I ended up hunting another twelve vamps before the night was out while Faith and Buffy walked and talked. We headed to the hotel afterwards and got our bags before heading to the address Giles gave us.
He greeted us at the door and we took the couch. I gave him half the cash we got tonight and told him I needed a new identity so we can get a place next door or something.
