After the big theology debate, I spent an awful lot of time with programmers looking over my shoulder while I reprogrammed the nanites into a more docile and healing state instead of the aging programming. I stripped the aging programs out at the base code down to the bytes of ones and zeroes that make it up before reprogramming them from scratch starting with the base laws of do no harm. What would take weeks for others took days for me and what would months took weeks and so on while I scrapped the coding I didn't need and rewrote the nanites base codes before programming them to make more sophisticated ones with only the specific materials I provided.
We ended up in a briefing weeks later where Daniel mentioned the Norse gods and I told him they were the Asgard I spoke of. Teal'c mentioned a world represented by a hammer and I raised an eyebrow. General Hammond asked if I knew anything about it and I shook my my head. "No, whatever's going on with the world wasn't happening back then. The only worlds I knew they inhabited are in the Ida galaxy. I didn't exactly stick around long before I went into seclusion to seek enlightenment and ascension. I'd just suffered a great-"
I groaned and held my head as blood poured from my nose. It was bad enough I was asked to stay. I shook my head and told General Hammond. "I'll heal. Sorry about the mess, but something happened at the end of the war that I don't want to remember and it was devastating enough that I'd erase it from my mind when I descended. I don't want to think about it for obvious reasons."
He nodded and I sighed while I wiped up the blood. "There was no mention of an Asgard home world in this galaxy when we returned. In fact the Nox had already gone into seclusion and even the Furlings had cut ties so I never got to meet any personally. The Asgard were busy in Ida and the only one of them I'd met was Heimdall, a researcher who'd come to the Milky Way to work on a project on a gas giant where an Asgard ship had crashed fifty thousand years before. I'm not a geneticist so I only met with him briefly in passing when he tried to get Janus to help him on his project."
I shrugged. "Beyond that I've no knowledge of any recent Asgard settlements in this galaxy."
General Hammond sighed and told me he wanted a full medical checkup when I returned. I agreed and went with the team off world where Jack and Teal'c were beamed away Daniel said they were dead and I grunted. "They're alive. That was an Asgard teleportation device, not a weapon. The design is clearly improved from the last I'd heard of it, but it's also short range so they're likely on the planet somewhere still."
We met Gairwyn who introduced us to Kendra, a former goa'uld host taken by the hammer. She took us to the cave that led to Jack and Teal'c as well as an Unas. Seeing them fight the Unas, I brought out my sword and took it's head. The snake fell out after the head was separated, revealing the goa'uld inside.
Jack ordered the archway destroyed and Daniel shot it, freeing Teal'c. When Jack wanted to leave, I asked if he was really going to destroy the only defense these people had and not try to find a way to contact the Asgard to get it fixed, just leaving the people open to attack. He asked what I wanted him to do and I sighed. "If the Asgard left the hammer here it means they're monitoring these people's development from somewhere and if we can find out how them we can contact them and get it fixed."
I turned to Kendra and asked if there was any other places associated with Thor or the other gods she believed in. She told us of the hall of Thor's might before taking us there when asked. After a hologram and a few tests, I was able to speak with a live hologram of Thor. I told him the issue and asked for the parts so I could repair the hammer myself if necessary since I no longer had access to a material synthesizer or a matter materializer.
He was surprised I'd know of such technology and asked where I was from. I told him that I'm a former ascended ancient and I was back to fix things if possible while maintaining the lives of the descendants of my people. That stumped Jack and the rest except Samantha who knew that some of the others had mated with early humans long ago. He said he wished to speak with me and beamed me aboard his ship while sending the rest away.
He asked about a way to rid their people of the replicators and repair the genetic degradation of his people. I frowned and told him. "I can't help you with the genetic degradation. You'd need far earlier samples to compare your genetic structures to and the only ones I'd know may work is if an ascended Asgardian descended into mortal form. You could ask them if you knew they were listening to pass on the request for one of your people to descend and save your species."
He nodded slowly and sighed. "About the replicators then-"
I held up a hand. "I have a deal with you that'll be long and complicated, but if you and your people agree to it, I'll tell you how to destroy all the replicators right now, today. But it'll cost you a great deal of effort."
He nodded slowly. "I'm listening."
An hour later I was beamed back down by the gate with a suitcase and a small smile on. Samantha and the others were contacting General Hammond when I arrived. "We're ready to go. Thor fixed the hammer so that Teal'c can come back here anytime."
Jack asked. "What's with the bag?"
I smiled fully. "Raw ores for my suit. Soon I'll have all I need to make it fully operational. Oh, and Thor says that like the Cimmerians your people are still too young for any level of direct contact. He knows about the world wars, civil wars and the fact that women are just now being treated as equals on earth, let alone the planet being ready to come together and work as one."
Jack scowled and I shrugged. "Don't look at me like that, I didn't tell him. Apparently earth is popular these days and you've been watched for a while now. The Asgard don't interfere, but finding a stargate on a planet like earth, especially one that isn't the original gate, makes the planet exceptional and it's people more so to work it without a proper DHD. Thor says they anticipate great things from humans of earth."
Jack smiled lightly saying they'll try not to disappoint. When we arrived back on base, it was one long debriefing where I just said the basics. Jack was skeptical about Thor giving me the raw ores but I pointed out his people's cellular degradation would mean the extinction of his race within a century or so if not sooner. "Besides, I'm not entirely human, I am an ancient or as much of one as any of the others and it's not like I was asking for his ship, just to use a molecular synthesizer for a few minutes to make the raw ores I needed, and this."
I held up a miniature crystal based reactor. Daniel asked. "And that is?"
I smiled. "A very advanced special piece of technology. With it, my suit is powered indefinitely and protected from electromagnetic energy. It's just advanced enough that your people can study it to learn four different types of clean energy reactor technology."
I set it on the table and gestured to Samantha who asked. "Any hints?"
I smiled. "One of them your people already knows about and has yet to be able to make it efficient enough to eliminate the need for nuclear reactors. Beyond that, I really do suggest your people invest in upgrading the power grid for your country to advance into the electric car age. If not, you'll be stuck in the fossil fuel age when the old power lines begin to fail and cause forest fires that can kill hundreds and cause more pollutants to enter the planet's atmosphere, increasing global warming as your people have coined the term."
Sam watched me work for days on the suit, programming it for hours while others watched and asked questions of why certain things were necessary. She studied the power source herself and pinpointed solar energy being absorbed when I told her to take it outside to the surface to see how it reacts. It was collecting solar energy fast from what her scans indicated and storing it before generating other types of energy leading to more questions than answers.
I gave her a hand drawn blueprint and told her the design is too small for practical application, but it would power the base for a year if plugged into the power supply even if no more sunlight was fed to it. I told her it would do so indefinitely if sunlight was shone on it. Weeks later the suit was done, a black version of my old nightingale looking armor. I put the neurotransmitter into my head and the suit moved to their shock, walking to me and with a hug, it reformed around me.
I picked up the reactor and put it over my chest which grew to the designs necessary. It hummed to life as it was inserted and Jack asked. "Won't it be a big obvious target in the dark?"
The suit made an Iris over it and I went invisible, cloaking. I tapped his shoulder as I appeared. He turned and I raised my arm, tapping on the gauntlet as holograms showed up. The suit was sucked into watch form and Daniel asked where the reactor went.
I gestured to the watch. "Inside."
Samantha spoke up. "That's impossible, it defies the laws of physics."
I smiled. "The laws of physics as you know them are merely suggestions to someone who's mastered the true laws of this reality. Trust me, it's science, just really advanced. Earth will catch up in a few million years give or take."
Daniel said I was much-much smarter than they were. I chuckled wryly. "This is actually not that advanced. My old suit on Atlantis was in the process of being fully upgraded and capable of intergalactic travel at hyper speed or opening temporary stable wormholes when I was forced to abandon it. Really wish I'd brought it about now. I could've wiped out the goa'uld or any fleet including the Asgard if they attacked with it."
Daniel sighed. "Way-way smarter than we are."
Jack asked. "Is there no chance you can't just swing by and pick it up?"
I shook my head. "The city is activated by the presence of life to a degree that the life support kicks on, but it activates to the Lantean genetic lock in my DNA and my mental energies as well. The moment I set foot on Atlantis it'll wake up and drain the power out of the potentia…sorry, ZPM, while trying to get me to take over control of it. Atlantis is…semi sentient. It holds the knowledge and memories of not just the ancients, but myself as well."
I shrugged. "It will remember me and try to get me to stay. This effort may cost us precious time or the city itself because I have no idea where to acquire ZPMs at the moment and the power required to make a single one is beyond my suit's current capabilities, both of them. Not to mention it's extremely dangerous and delicate. For now the city is safer asleep and so is earth so long as it remains so. After all, we made damned sure Atlantis has the only stargate in Pegasus capable of dialing earth before we left. If the wraith get to it, that'll mean they have a direct line to earth and with it they can pinpoint earth's location to send ships. It'll take thousands of years, but they don't age and they can hibernate to conserve food resources in their captured humans in stasis."
They grimaced and I nodded before Daniel asked. "So what can this suit do?"
I smiled. "It can cloak, fly, is space capable, has a personal shield, goes invisible and suppresses sound around it in an energy field undetectable by all but the most advanced sensors and it's resistant to all forms of weapons the goa'uld, Asgard and anyone short of my old weapons projects can throw at it. Plus it has a thermal laser that can reach temperatures hot enough to out burn a bolt of lightning and cut a thousand Jaffa in half in a circle. If I'm dropped in between a hundred thousand Jaffa perfectly, a handful would be lucky to dodge before they were cut in half."
Jack whistled low before saying. "Sounds great, we'll take a dozen."
I huffed lightly. "Not happening. It's a one off that'll drain the reactor core to near critical levels. It'll take months of direct sunlight to recharge it back to full capacity, but it'll be insurance in case we're hip deep in screwed. Still, the nanites can cure any ailment or disease including cancer so there's a plus. I believe your people are working on more of them now."
General Hammond spoke then. "They are. As for the screwed part, let's just hope that it doesn't happen then."
I smiled and the next day Daniel went off the reservation before coming back with a mission and Catherine Langford. I met the woman and she said it was a genuine pleasure, telling me Daniel told her all about me.
