Ch.108

Jacob asked if it was that obvious and I shrugged. "Not to others, but I have good hearing and you aren't as discreet you think you are. Don't worry, I haven't told Sam. I'll leave it to you to tell her when and if you're ready."

He sighed. "A cure you say?"

I nodded. "Many things are possible with deep space telemetry analysis."

He chuckled wryly and said we needed a better cover story including my civilian status cause that one is a clear lie. I shrugged. "Maybe, but speak to General Hammond. I mean it Jacob, we can help you and you can be a big part of Sam's life. No more misinterpretations or secrets."

He sighed. "And here I called into get her into NASA."

I grunted. "You'll understand why she'd say no when you're debriefed. Now I have a brief meeting with the president. I'm told he won't be staying because he has a meeting on the hill, but he wants to meet me for whatever reason."

I left when Sam came over with Jack and whispered about the meeting in her ear before we shared a kiss. I left and got into the limo the president was in. A trip around the block later and the president thanked me for everything I was doing, understanding why I couldn't just give them super advanced technologies now. Still, he was happy to hear I was marrying an American Air Force officer.

I invited him and he said unfortunately he was busy here in Washington and taking time to go to a wedding would be an issue if others saw him. I told him earth was safe for now but even from a highly advanced race, I can only do so much with limited resources on my own. Sam and Jack got their accommodations from Hammond at the SGC before we went to meet up with Daniel and Teal'c.

We came through and killed Heru'er's men before Jack put a knife in his hand. The shield malfunctioned and he escaped before Apophis and his group came. I was about to kill him when Daniel stopped me from the shadows saying Sha're would die as well. The goa'uld inside Sha're, Amonet, saw us but let us go without saying a word to Apophis or his men.

They left and Daniel told us the tale of the baby when we were debriefed. I told Daniel in a sigh. "I could've saved her and killed Apophis then and there had you trusted me Daniel. I'm not a reckless idiot. My suit has auto targeting to pinpoint my shots. If you'd have trusted me, Sha're would be in your arms right now and Apophis would be a memory."

He apologized, but he couldn't take the risk with his wife, he wouldn't. I looked to Sam and sighed before letting it go. A week later Sam and I had our wedding at a large church with all our friends and even her family there. Janus appeared watching and brought a smile to myself before we said our vows. Jack, Daniel and Teal'c were my best men while Sam had Janet, Cassandra and Drey'auc.

Ry'ac was the ring bearer and played his part well in a small tux. Sam and I had our wedding and a short week long honeymoon to the Bahamas where we spent our time in a bungalow by the ocean making love and enjoying the sun, sea and life. Jacob was read in and cured of his stage four lymphoma aka cancer. The nanites had removed it and all the bad cells while the medical bed had eradicated the rest and boosted his immune system to prevent further outbreaks.

In other words he would be very healthy for a really long time because the nanites and medical bed was very thorough. He was fascinated with the SGC and everything now that he was in complete remission with low risk of ever catching cancer again. I bought the land next to the manor and built another like the New Orleans Mikaelson compound only far safer. I'd been at it a few days before we were called to the SGC to deal with the Tok'ra ambassador that'd come seeking the cloning technology and a possible host for Selmak.

I gave them the knowledge they needed and warned them they'd take time to grow and DNA from willing hosts to copy after they built the machines, but in six months they could have whatever bodies they desire to wear when facing the goa'uld. The operative was stopped by Jacob about Selmak as he'd heard from Sam about the benefits of blending including an extended lifespan up to double that of a human's.

He'd been thinking a lot about the time he had left and how little it could be even with the tech we have and he wanted to see his grandchildren be born and grow up. He volunteered to share his body since he figured it was akin to being married and his wife was long dead. We went with him to the base which was the recommended planet I'd given the Tok'ra. I told the team it'd been a long time since id been back there, ten thousand years but whose counting.

The base reacted to me and I smiled wryly, giving the Tok'ra access to the cloaked galactic satellite network, the Lagrange Satellite weapon cloaked in this dark star system. They were surprised there would be such a thing or that the chair in the center of the complex was more than just a resting device. I told them it was made of Neutronium which was extremely rare in the Milky Way.

I explained that it reacts to mental cues and now that I'd given them access, it would take a fleet of hundreds of goa'uld ships to reach the facility. I told them even the Lantean high council knew nothing about this installation because I'd built it alone with Janus, a fellow scientist and my closest friend of his generation.

They asked if he was a weapons expert and I shook my head. "He was diverse but he was focused with time travel the last I'd seen him. He was working on a ship that could go through time at the will of the controller, to any point in time. He was stubborn and petulant but smart and gifted in intellect. Inquisitive. He would listen to my lectures as a child and while the others dismissed my knowledge choosing their own fields in sciences that were proven, he stayed, challenged the impossible and changed the understanding of what it meant to be a genius. He was a good kid and a great friend."

I turned to Sam. "He was the man at our wedding that I was looking at. He showed up without interfering because he knew I'd want him there."

Sam smiled before I passed the chair to the councilor saying. "Be careful and guard this chair well now that it's open. An Ashrak or traitor could wipe out this base with a single shot from the satellite weapon. If the goa'uld get ahold of such technologies even I would be hard pressed to stop them in open conflict. Their dominance over the rest of the galaxy would be solidified for the rest of time."

They nodded and the councilor said they'd have a five man team put to guard the room in shifts with a force field around the chair itself only for council members use. I nodded we headed to see Jacob and Selmak who had become one symbiotic host. It would take time before he could adjust and move around, but for now they were alright and alive. I held Sam while we waited and suggested to Lantesh that they set up a second off world base so that the goa'uld. Would be unable to track them back here if they were to flee by ship.

He said the council was already making such arrangements. I hummed and told them to use the TERs to modify the scanners for the main hall where the stargate is in case the goa'uld learn to develop cloaking technologies. I told them the satellite network already has such technologies and not even the Asgard can hide from them, but I hadn't thought of personal cloaking technologies when I put in the original defense systems.

He said it would be done and I sighed. "In that case all that's left is to share the medical beds from the reverse engineered sarcophagus technology. The sarcophagus technology is based on technology meant for Lantean and Alteran physiology, like my own. That is the flaw that creates evil in the goa'uld beyond their natural predator instincts. Their brains can't think on the highest levels logically and for Lanteans, our minds are highly advanced with neurons firing and awakening up to sixty-five percent for most or ninety percent like my own. To revive us fully without brain death or loss of higher brain functions the technology had to be very specific."

I gestured to Lantesh and Jolinar. "Your hosts and the clones you make will be normal humans and like your symbiote minds, the human brain can't naturally function on such high levels so the sarcophagus's technology leaves a radiation residue that tries to heal what isn't meant to be healed because it isn't injured. This residue builds up and causes issues in the lower functions of the brain like basic reasoning and emotions, causing madness."

Sam spoke up and told them. "The new medical beds removes that because it's meant for human physiology and symbiote physiology can be added for yours. Oz tells me the limits to it's healing capabilities is because he doesn't want humanity to use them like a crutch to live forever like the goa'uld because human minds aren't capable of lasting that long and staying sane yet."

I nodded and turned to Jolinar. "Symbiotes have no such worries because of their analytical minds and genetic memories already providing them with vast quantities of information. To that end I'm willing to turn off the limiters in the beds we give to you in exchange for the mining crystals you Tok'ra use to dig your tunnels."

Lantesh asked confused. "Why would you need them? Surely you can develop something far superior."

I chuckled and Sam explained. "Oz doesn't want to give earth technology they aren't ready for but we need resources if we're to combat the goa'uld and your crystals can be altered to mine refined naquadah and other materials fully without causing harm to the environment, fast and easy or so Oz claims."

They looked to me and I smiled before Lantesh said he'd speak with the council. As it turns out the council wanted the knowledge to build their own medical beds for the cases of crystals which I saw no issues to. I put the knowledge on a crystal along with how to adjust the beds before trading it fairly for a dozen cases of crystals. The Tok'ra explained what each crystal did and I thanked them before Jacob was on his feet.

He came back with us after getting a shield deactivation armband as a council member. He, Lantesh and Jolinar returned to Serenity, the star I'd made the compound in. I got to work on the crystals since there was nothing of major importance to deal with, working on the compound when I was off work. Weeks later General Hammond showed us Trinium and I smiled seeing it.

I told General Hammond the crystals were ready and with both refined trinium and naquadah, I could reinforce the base to a much higher degree beyond staff weapon turrets. He said it would be much appreciated and I nodded before the gate activated. Jack nearly got shot with a trinium arrow I caught and I smiled. "Clever. It seems your dig team has pissed off the natives and what's more, a highly advanced race as well."

General Hammond asked. "How do you figure?"

I set the arrow down. "Any race capable of using the gates is beyond bows and arrows and for the natives to not only use our gate address but to know how to refine trinium to this degree speaks of another race likely pretending to be their spirits if they're descendants of native Americans like the arrow suggests. Two separate races, one world in symbiotic relationship. It's a simple deduction."

Jack grunted. "For you."

I shrugged and sighed. "You need to be careful with this one Jack. Pissing off the natives may piss off the advanced race and any lies to such a race will be easily found out. If they're appearing as animals as the spirits of a Native American tribe would then they can shape shift and look like anyone. One lie or misleading word will be taken as deception and will likely lead to the deaths of the men that are likely captives of one or both races."

I turned to General Hammond. "I could be wrong. It is a deduction from a simple arrow and the fact that they can effectively use gate travel, but it would be wise to prepare for such things."

General Hammond nodded and Daniel asked why a race would be benevolent and protect a race while pretending to be their spirits. I shrugged. "Perhaps like the Asgard they fear their appearance would scare the natives but they'd freed them from the goa'uld and it was their planet first. The ancient device didn't just seed life on earth, but every world with a gate and near the gate systems. Humanoids like the Nox, Asgard, Furlings and the Unas are clear examples humanoid life can develop off of earth naturally from said device."

Jack said he wouldn't exactly call an Unas humanoid. I chuckled. "It stands on two legs, is all but human in appearance and likely reproduces like a caveman. I can't define it in any other way Jack. Unas aren't evil as a species, they're just young races not fully developed and used as slaves and hosts like the Jaffa and humans."

"The one we encountered must've been there a long time and if you hadn't killed it, I would've removed the symbiote to try and save it and possibly send it home if it knew where home was. Just because somethings different doesn't mean it's ugly or evil. Just remember they were used, innocent and likely the first slaves this galaxy ever had. Keep that in mind if you meet the spirits or anymore Unas."
