Ch.126

When the Alkesh came in, I brought them all down with a full round from the BFG before passing it and a bag to Teal'c. "Reload and fire at will. I'll bring down the gliders."

I pulled out the railgun and brought down three gliders in quick succession while Teal'c reloaded the BFG. When the tenth death glider fell, I pulled out the mini gun and fired at the ships in a spread pattern bringing down a great many before Teal'c unloaded the BFG and brought down several transport carriers. We started to get overrun by ground forces while I was pissing lead cutting swaths down. I told Teal'c to grab the bag and BFG and retreat with the men to the pyramid.

I backed away and covered his retreat, killing hundreds and dropping a few more ships. I damned near ran out of ammo cutting through the lines of Jaffa chasing us. Once in the pyramid, I made sure everyone was in before taking the BFG and firing a round into the ceiling over the entrance, caving it in a bit and buying us time.

I told those still with us. "Get behind the pillars and fire at the Jaffa that show up through the rings and gate."

Jack joined us as the gate dialed in and Jaffa ringed in. We fired and fired, killing them as they showed up before I stood in the ring's position and tossed Jack the bag of the eyes. "When you get a chance get everyone through the gate and blow them up. If no power is drawn from them then the explosion will be small and contained. Don't let Anubis get ahold of them."

He asked what I was going to do as the rings activated and I tossed him the BFG. "Buy more time. Don't wait up."

Jack nodded and I was ringed up while Jaffa were ringed down. When I appeared in a room full of Jaffa, my collapsible swords came out and death followed. Nearly two hundred Jaffa died before I was able to fully leave the ring room. I set a brick of C-4 and ran, closing off several sections behind me before it blew.

It took a while but I killed my way to the gate room and set several bricks of C-4 before leaving and killing my way out before that room blew as well. I barely made it to a sealed area while several hundred Jaffa were exposed to the vacuum of space. I stopped and healed the zat and staff blasts for a minute before making my way through the overly large ship to the Peltak.

By the time I arrived I'd blown two more ring transporters and killed well over a thousand Jaffa. I was being cornered and hunted but nothing they threw at me including the shields slowed me for long. When I made it to the Peltak, I found Daniel trying to strike at Anubis. He was pulled away and I walked in, telling Anubis. "Care to try me then? Leave Abydos alone and walk away or you will suffer me."

He sneered. "Somehow I really doubt that."

I closed my eyes and let it all fall away as the block in my memories broke and it all came back to me. My body glowed white and I reformed telling Anubis. "Leave, this is your last warning. I don't give a damn what the other's reasons are for punishing Oma with you. You will leave even if all you can do for the rest of eternity is battle me."

He told his first prime. "Do it-"

Boom, a crack of thunder killed the Jaffa. I ignored the other's warnings as my rage that was famed for the thousand years of war and the loss of my closest friend grew inside me. My energies lashed out, and not even Oma could stop me. I blasted Anubis across the room and appeared as he stood, grabbing him. "Looks like it's going to be just you and me for eternity. I hope you brought lube cause if not I'm going in drier than Abydos."

I destroyed half of Anubis's robes forced his energies to fight my own far more powerful and denser ones. He couldn't win and so long as he existed I couldn't either but the people of this galaxy would be safe. The others stepped in and tried to stop me but their powers were no greater than my own and unlike Daniel I wasn't a novice. They all soon found themselves against me as I blasted them and Anubis around in a space storm that destroyed half of Anubis's ship.

Eventually Oma and her people returned and helped the others pull me away from Anubis. The elder ancients looked aggrieved in the diner where they pulled us in the extra dimensional space. The diner was huge and there were a great many of them between Anubis and I while he snickered saying even they follow their own rules. I roared and fired a blast of energy so pure Anubis screamed in agony as it dissolved half his energy face.

The others had moved sensing it to get the fuck out of the way. Oma looked a little smug herself seeing Anubis injured on a level he'd not heal anytime soon even as a partial ascended. Janus told Anubis that I'd he provokes me again his faction would not step in to defend him. He turned to me and pulled me back saying. "Brother, remember, we don't interfere unless interfered upon. Anubis-"

I growled and shoved him back. "He dares threaten the world I ascended on? The world I protected when I couldn't protect our own? You would have me capitulate to a mad fool? For what? To punish some dumb girl that meant well?"

Janus backed off and I turned to the others. "If you allow him to destroy Abydos or harm the people there further you will all suffer me. Earth can protect itself, the people of Abydos cannot and I will not allow the atrocities of our past be visited on these innocent people who've suffered enough for no damned reason other than our failings!"

I glared at each of the elder and old ancients telling them coldly. "I warned many of you we should not leave our technology laying around. You ignored my warnings and insisted it was for the best. Well if your best gets these innocent caring people killed, you'll all be too damned busy fighting me to judge and stop others from doing what they feel is for the best just as you have!"

I turned to the ext and stopped, staring at Anubis. "And mark my words boy, if you do this I will come for you and extinguish your essence, ending you entirely never to grow back. You along with anyone that gets in my way of doing so."

I turned to Janus who looked defeated. I scowled. "I capitulated to your whims and laws for ten then thousand years and five million years before that. This is my line, cross it at your own peril."

I left and returned to Abydos on the mortal plane. There I told the remaining Jaffa to flee or die. Those that shot were reduced to ashes while the rest fled. I healed those still alive including Skaara who had only minor injuries.

I went to the cave and sat, waiting for a blast that never came. When Jack and the rest returned to Abydos, Anubis had already left with his ships. I told them. "Daniel was stopped by Oma and chose to descend somewhere I've no clue. Anubis was going to destroy the planet."

Jack sighed. "Clearly that's not the case now."

I shook my head and Sam asked. "Did you-"

I nodded. "Abydos has a special place in my heart. It is proof that even in the harshest of places, good people are still there. I spent ten thousand years here, I couldn't watch it be destroyed, not by anyone."

Jonas asked. "You mean to say you ascended?"

I shrugged. "For someone who's taken mortal form from ascension and walked the path alone, it's never truly said that we aren't ascended. With a single thought we can shed our burdens and remember…everything."

Sam tried to touch my face where I sat beside several people including Skaara. Her hand passed through and I closed my eyes before sharing myself fully with her. All that I am and was, all that I could be. She opened to me on instinct and mist glowed around us as our eyes met in smiles.

She spoke softly. "So that's what you were hiding. So much agonizing pain, guilt and an unending rage."

I smiled sadly. "Ascending is just shedding the mortal burdens. Those in your soul are there far longer as I've come to learn. I let go of the things I can't change and focused on what I could."

I stopped glowing as I stood up and took mortal form with all my stuff again. I touched her face and kissed her before Jack asked if Anubis would return. I shook my head. "Abydos is safe from everyone. The others saw to it that he cannot attack it in any way or hint towards it without being stripped of his half ascended state to mortal form. They figured he was Oma's punishment and not mine so he wasn't worth going to war with me over one planet that has not bearing in their plans for the future. Scheming pricks and politicians."

Jack asked. "Why couldn't Daniel scare them off then?"

I grunted. "Daniel doesn't know how to kill ascended beings and his essence isn't indestructible like my own. It takes all of a faction to hold me back on a good day. On a bad day, we're lucky to have earth still standing."

Sam flinched when Jonas asked what I meant. Teal'c told him if the child we lost and that it was best not to speak on the subject again. When we got back to the SGC, Jack asked if I could pull the big guns if Anubis comes to earth. I shook my head. "I had one choice and Abydos needed me more. they had no one and Oma was content to help them all ascend for her own schemes. I couldn't let thousands die because I wanted to protect earth more."

Jack waved me off. "Trust me, I get it and we aren't blaming you."

Jonas asked. "So what happens if we win and Anubis can't be killed?"

I snorted lightly. "If he attacks me I'm allowed to defend myself. So if his ship's destroyed his robes will be gone and he'll have to possess people to get around. Just figure out who it is and lock me in a room with him. If he possess me, I ascend and he's erased from existence in a wave of energy that won't reach you all here on the lower planes."

Jonas was intrigued. "And what about the hire ones?"

I shook my head. "Ever been hit in the face with a Naquadria enhanced nuke?"

He shook his head and I grunted. "That'll be the first few seconds before he's gone. After he's gone the others will no doubt get pissy, but they can't blame me if his actions lead to his death by attacking someone capable of destroying him."

General Hammond asked how I got so powerful if we're supposed to be even. I flicked my ring sighing. "I'm very old and when I'm not forgetting most of my life, my mental powers are vast. With age and knowledge comes power as a byproduct the others combined are able to keep me in check if I go all out, but that would mean hurting good people and while I don't mind hurting goa'uld or wraith, I don't want to be like them."

I relaxed in my chair groaning. "I need to go clean up the dead Jaffa and ships on Abydos. Think there's a junkyard for goa'uld trashed ships somewhere?"
