Waking up the next morning was the same. I had to make breakfast for Odette and I. Then get both of us ready for the day. I quickly threw the blanket off me and check the clock. It was only six in the morning and I had to get to work at eight. "Okay, I have time to shower," I mumbled as I walked in the bathroom with my towel.
Odette was still sleeping so I had time to make breakfast. I quickly showered and got dressed before putting on an apron and made some roasts and sunny sides up. I made myself an American Espresso and got orange juice for Odette. When I was done with Odette's breakfast, I got started on mine. I got myself some croissants and heated it up the microwave because it makes it fluffy and it tasted great.
I put the breakfast on the table and walked into Odette's room to wake her up. I quietly walked over to her bed and kneeled down. "Baby?" I called softly. I pulled the blanket that was tucked under her chin and slowly pulled it down, making her groan. "You have to get up now babe. It's time to go." Odette rolled over and covered her face. I sighed and got up to open her windows to let the light in.
"Nooooo!" She yelled when the sunlight hit her face. "Dawddy! Nwo, slweep."
I laughed and walked over to her again. "Get up, baby. Don't you want to meet your new friend? What's his name?" I pretended to forget her new friend's name.
"Wideon." She mumbled and peaked out of her blanket to look at me.
"Yeah, Gideon is probably waiting for you so you should get up and get ready." I smiled when she finally sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Good girl."
I ruffled her hair but she pouted before moving my hand away. I picked her up and brought her to the bathroom to brush her teeth and take a bath. When she was dried and dressed, we ate together and left for her daycare at seven-fifteen to drop her off. I stopped the car in front of the school gate and unbuckled her from her car seat before helping her get off and putting on her little backpack with her lunch box and water bottle. "Bwye Dwaddy!" Odette waved to me before walking into the gates to her teacher who was staring omg in the front with her classmate.
I waved to her and the teacher before getting in the car and driving to work. The work was pretty easy, so far, and I really got along with my co-workers. They were all nice and I could go to one of them if I had any questions. In all, I loved my new job and couldn't wait to start it, the only problem was my manager. I think he hated me or something because he would stare at me with intense eyes and it really scared me.
He was hot and all, but he was a bit of a creep, he was also young, I think he's like four years older than me, which was impressive for a young to be a manager of a big corporate. I just didn't get what his deal was, because this was the first time I met him and I was sure I didn't do anything to him. I sighed as I near my place of work and parked my car in the employee parking lot.
Hopefully it won't be the same as other days.

Well, the day went was not what I expected. Firstly, I was called into Mr. Brigg's office and was told to follow him so he could show me what to do. I did as I was told and followed him and took notes on what he taught me. It seemed easy but I would've been lost without his help. Mr. Briggs was actually attentive when it came to working otherwise he didn't care and I could tell by the way he was speaking about the file that had everything in it and it was updated weekly. "That's all, Daisy will show you the other things." He said as he turned his back to me and walked away.
I turned around to see a beautiful woman in her thirties. She had dark brown hair, long lashes, and beautiful brown eyes. She was a bit smaller than me. When she saw me she smiled and walked closer. "Hi, I'm Daisy. It's very nice to finally meet someone new." I laughed as did she.
"I'm June, it's my pleasure working with you." I offered her a smile.
"Same here." She smiled. "Just follow me, I hope you already know your way around this floor and it's not a problem?"
"Yes, I know where most of the rooms are," I answered as we walked to my cubicle. "I just need to know how to work the systems and store the data."
"Of course." Daisy smiled. "Sit down and I'll teach you."
I sat down and she got another chair and sat beside me. She talked for a while as she thought me how to work everything and what do with the file I got from Briggs for practice. She really was a great teacher. "I'm going to grab some coffee, you want some?" She asked and I shook my head.
"Thanks but I'm trying to cut back on a little," I replied to which she nodded and got up. She walked away and I sighed before stretching my limbs because I've been sitting here for a while.
"Hey man," someone said. I looked up over to my left to see a guy, about my age, smiling at me.
"Hey," I greeted awkwardly.
"I'm Uriel, you?" He asked.
"I'm June, the new guy." I joked. Uriel chuckled.
"Welcome to the team June the new guy." He walked over to my side and sat next to me. "I didn't get the chance to greet you because of the boss but it's finally nice to talk to you."
"Sorry about that. He was kinda scary and I didn't want to mess up on my first day." I chuckled nervously and scratched the back of my neck lightly.
"It's all good." Uriel moved his hand as if to dismiss it. "Just here to warm you, Daisy is a bit...clingy. Don't get caught in her web or she'll kill you."
I nodded, not knowing if I should take him seriously or not. "Thanks for the warning man." I smiled at him and he nodded.
That's when Daisy came back and Uriel got up quickly and went to his own workspace. Daisy walked over to me with an innocent smile but people can hide the ugly with the innocent smile so I didn't trust it. "So where were we?" She asked as she took her seat next to me and sipped her newly made dark roasted coffee.
"You were going to tell me how to send these files and organize them exactly how Me. Briggs likes it." I answered.
"Hmm," she hummed as she put her cup down. "Okay, so this goes here and that one goes in the other slot...."
I sighed quietly as I sat up and did as she directed.

It was around six PM when I was done with all the training and the work. Mr. Briggs came to see me at the end to see how I did and Daisy said I was a fast learner and such praises. He only nodded before he went on his merry way. I was so glad I didn't have to deal with all. Imagine the stress his assistant might feel and how quickly that could make their health worse.
I knew he was a hard worker because I saw him in a meeting that I had to accompany him to. But other than that, he didn't smile, he didn't talk unless it was necessary. The was a man of few words and he was good looking as he was scary. I think the mysterious aura that he gives off is the reason why many of my colleagues are attracted to him. But to me, he was just plain cold and scary.
I got to my car and drove home with classic music playing. It helped with the stress and I loved me some Bach and Beethoven. When I parked my car in my designated parking spot, I got out and walked inside the building to the mailbox. I always check the mailbox to see if there was any important mail. What I saw were a few ads about credit cards, and such and just took them up to my apartment so I can recycle the letters.
The elevator ride was quiet until it stopped on the fifth floor, I lived on the seventh floor so it wasn't a big deal because the elevator was going to the seventh. When the door opened, I gasped a little. It was Owen Briggs that manager who probably hated me. "Oh," was the words that came out of my mouth making him look at me.
"It's you," he said in a monotone.
"Uh, yeah." I chuckled nervously. "I didn't know you lived here." Because if I did, I would've been careful to avoid you.
"Just moved in three months ago." He answered and stood next to me and pressed the seventh-floor button. Oh, fuck! "You?"
"About three weeks," I answered, and then it was quiet and awkward.
I tapped my fingers quietly, hoping and praying that this awkward moment would end.

When the doors finally opened I hurried off and went to the apartment. I nodded towards Owen when he passed me and unlocked the door. "Dwaddy!" I heard a loud yell and she wrapped her arms around my leg. "Welcomb back!" Odette smiled looking up at me. I chuckled and laughed.
"I am at home. Thank you for waiting." I went and picked her up. "How was school?"
"Good." She nodded and then turned to me with a big smile. "I goth a wold stwar."
"Oh my god! My baby got a gold star! That's amazing. I am so proud of you." I hugged her tightly as I went to close the door behind me and couldn't. I turned around to see Owen looking at me and then at Odette. "Uh, can I help you?"
He looked at me confused before he noticed that he was blocking the door. "Uhh, sorry about that." He backed off and let go of the door.
"Umm, it's okay. But are you okay, sir?" I asked as I fully turned towards him.
"I'm fine. I just thought that..." He looked at Odette and she smiled at him and said acute "hi" before she hid her face in my neck. "Never mind, have a good night."
"You too," I looked at him confused but forgot about it when Wendy came to the door.
"I thought it was you." She replied and I nodded. "Dinner is ready and I gotta go."
"Thank you got doing all this." I smiled and gave her a hug with Odette still in my arms. "I love you."
"I love you too, and I especially love Odette!" Wendy grabbed Odette from me and started to tickle her making us all laugh. She carefully put Odette down and kissed her cheek before turning to me with a smile. "Bye!"
"See you tomorrow," I answered.
"Bye-bye!" Odette waves her hands as Wendy left out the door.
"Papa is going to get changed, you can go and play until I get dinner, okay?" I asked and Odette nodded before sprinting towards her toys.
I sighed with a happy smile before I changed and freshened is before getting both of our dinners and setting the table. I got Odette's high chair and put it next to mine. "Dinner's ready love!" I called for her.
Hearing her little footsteps made me smile. I picked her up and put her in her high chair before securing it and placing her plate in the form of her. "Thanks, Daddy." She smiled upon me and then began to go to her dinner, which was mashed potatoes, chicken strips, and some veggies.
"You're very welcome," I replied, and at mine.
After we were done, we watched her favorite movie, Onwards and but the time it was nine, she was in her bed sleeping. I was so glad that I had Odette on a sleeping schedule by the time she was eight months old because it really paid off.
I laid in my bed and scrolled through social media and my emails. There wasn't much so I watched some shows on Netflix and then went to YouTube. I liked seeing the reddit videos where people share their story and one caught my eye. It was about a woman who's sister got pregnant and later she found out that the father was one of her friends.
It was very interesting and it got me thinking, could Odette's father be someone around me, and Owen's behavior got me really curious because he's been staring at me a lot. Then again, he could think I'm ugly and hated me so I didn't pay any mind to it.
I put my phone down and turned it on Do Not Disturb mode and turned in for the night.
