The Great (Big) Outdoors

Leaving the basement, George finally arrived outside. He was greeted kindly by the (near) scorching sunlight and chirping of birds. But, something was wrong about this entirely.

System, where the hell am I?

-Answer: Unclear.-

He had come out of a cellar trapdoor with concrete around it, forming a military-esque bunker. But, the outdoors were nowhere he had ever been. It was a grasslaneds area with forests in the distance, but not even the faint sound of cars or people could be heard in the distance. It's like he was dragged...

-"We're in the middle of nowhere."-

A few hours later, George returns to the cellar-door.

System, gather analysis of the area.

-Answer: Area is primarily woodlands. No identified humanoids or machinations have been found within a ten mile-radius.-

God D@mn, if they were at least that far from civilization, how the hell had Jeffrey managed to get them here!?

-Answer: Host's question requires minor studies into demonology; however, system will answer as host has the main requisite outside of this study. To simplify: Black Magic.-

There it was again, Black Magic. George, of course, has heard of the ole' witchcraft stories in Europe and Salem, but what if that wasn't exactly accurate? This system was NOTHING like what "reality" told him, so...

System, what exactly is Black Magic?

-Answer: This requires studies into demonology. Black Magic that host uses is derived from host's possessor, Great Demon Lord of Envy.-

Can't say that doesn't make sense. Black Magic is derived from Demonology, got it.

System, is there any way we can learn a spell or skill to get out of here?

-Answer: Unsure. Theoretically, yes._

That was enough. Although George has no clue how he's going to do it, he has to learn some kind of teleportation spell.

-System Urges host to recognize the difference between categories: [Skills] and [Spells]. Magic, whenever used, is a part of the larger [Skills] of the host. [Skills] refers to system or host's related abilities that system is being bound to. [Spells], alternatively, refers to the individual specialized casting of magic. Most [Spells] have Incantations, which are either recited or improvised. Host's first usage of [Black Magic: Envy] was an Improvised Incantation spell.-

Ah, that makes sense. So then would getting a skill be better than a spell, even?

-Answer: Correct, overall.-

Overall? What's the catch?

-Answer: Each individual skill may have different requirements for obtainment and or usage. Thusby it cannot be properly quantified or estimated in such a way.-

I guess it's too much to hope that all skills would be as awesome and easy as the Black Magic he performed. Oh well...

After another hour, the sun began setting, George had now efficiently set himself up with the basic survival neccesities. Being an "epic-gamer" never came in more handy than when you're stranded nowhere with nothing but yourself, a mediator robot, and a demon.

After getting some basic neccessities, such as water from the running river nearby, and boiling it on a campfire, he began running through everything he could with the system in-order to consolidate everything he recognized, or might have missed.

But he was interrupted by a strange pinging noise, but it echoed in a way that made it seem like his ears were ringing.

-System acknowledges host has obtained two skills. [Meditation] and [Survivalist] added to Skill Bank.-

George stared in wide-eyed amazement around his little camp, confused by the noise still.

-Answer: System will alert host to skills and statistic changes when host is not occupied. System would have alerted host earlier during confrontation with target "Jeffrey Taylor", if not for aforementioned confrontation.-

Isn't this system too convenient? Sure, the cost was slowly losing your soul to a demon, but damn if it's not useful!

What do the skills do then?

-Answer: [Meditation] will allow user to compile their spiritual and mental faculties in-order to resist mental trauma and or hyperactivity. [Survivalist] will allow user to stave off natural deathly effects, such as small cuts, bruises, hunger, or thirst.-

George blinked a few times then askwed this question twice more to ensure he heard it correctly. If that was the case, doesn't that mean he's damn-near immortal!?

-Answer: On technicality, host is already considered "undead".-

This blanketed George with a feeling of disappointment, disdain (for his Uncle), and dread. Like a bucket of cold water being immediately slammed onto his head, it hurt to remember that he had been sacrificed for one man's ambition.

-"Don't worry about it, kid. It happens all the time."-

At first, George was slightly confused who was talking. Consolidating his memories had made him snap into a reverie with the system, so he forgot someone else was constantly watching and listening.

The system recommended, once, that I study demonology. Is there anything you can tell me?

-"I was wondering when you'd ask. The last guy asked me immediately upon arrival, it was kind-of creepy."-
