Demonology Class One

-"There are Five Tiers of Demons. The Seven Great Demon Lords, like me. The Lesser Demon Lords, Demon Cardinals, Demon Templars, then Daemons, or Pawns. Demon Lords, whether Great or Lesser, are the strongest individuals in the nether, though we are bound by rules when taking possession of individuals."-

That's a lot to take in at once. If there are so many demons, how isn't the world just over already?

-"A lot of demons have already taken possession of your mortal brethren. Only a few demons such as Lucy and Belfygg keep away. Lucy's too prideful, Belfygg is too lazy, yadah yadah. The most dangerous of possessions are usually carried about by or for Asmodia, as she loves to... Exploit mortals."-

Asmodia? Like Asmodeus?

-"Kid, those aren't our names. Those are latinized by the "Roman Catholic Church", as it were. Y'know, the same guys that originally killed the person they came to worship. That uh, Jezius feller."-

Woah woah woah! STOP! Jezius? Asmodia? What the fuck!?

-"Look, the reason the system keeps telling you to study demonology is because nothing your mainstream religions tell you is accurate at all. It's actually kinda funny how easily they lie to you mortals.

Anyway, I'll give you a brief overview with everything we just went through. Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judaea province, was beseached for having been under the possession of one of the more... Interesting Demon Lords. Okay fine, it was me. I was in-charge of a solid 90% of Roman history y'know! Everyone was constantly envious of that Julius Caesar fella after Lucy got him under her command. Ahem, sorry. Now then, the names of the Seven Great Demon Lords is not to be used casually, but they are as follows: Lucy, Queen of Pride. Levi, aka me, King of Envy. Setanta, the angry guy. Belfygg, the lazy guy. Maeon, the greedy guy. Belyze (pronounced Bellz), the gluttonous one. And, of course, Asmodia. She's the queen of all things... Sensual, as it were. That covers what I just exposited about. Any more questions?"-

This was... a lot to take in.

-"Oh and before you ask, no. Those aren't the actual titles of the Great Demon Lords. Make sure you NEVER refer to them like I just did if you meet them somehow. I'm treating you nicely cause you're not actually a sin-bearer."-

A sin-bearer? What's that?

-"In demonic summoning of Great Demon Lords, or their servants, a Sin-Bearer must either be the summoner or the sacrifice. We are drawn automatically to the sin we are pledged of, and thusby that's what initiates the call. The Demonic Possession System then begins the process of "conversing" to merge us to the possessee's body. Usually, in a solid eighty percent of sacrifices, the sacrifices are the sin-bearers. This allows us who are in-command of that Sin to usually gain full control (or at least, more than normal) of the sin-bearer. They indulge theirselves in our sinful embrace... Anyway. When a non-bearer, or worse, an uninvolved (like you) are drawn in, we have a fairly neutral relationship with eachother, as the system maintains balance above all else. However, because you died, the system evolved to the Demonic Resurrection System. This is... Extremely rare. It's likely only possible because you're a non-bearer as well as having been sacrificed by a sin-bearer whose summoning went ill. In-short, it's a complete accident we're together."-

Woah. Demonology is way more complex than I'd bargained for.

-"As opposed to Aetherial Possession? Trust me. This is a blessing."-

Suddenly, a ding went through George's mind again.

-Host has obtained [Novitiate Demonology]. [Black Magic: Envy] and other [Black Magic] have decreased in cost by twenty-five percent.-

-"Ah, that sounds like a good place to stop for now. I'm gonna take a nap. Call me if ya need me."-

And just like that, a deafening silence (yes, it's that quiet) was brought about in George's mind.

George had set-up a basic sleeping bag using what he could find in the forest. Despite it's... cheap qualities, it worked fairly well. But, even so, he found himself tossing and turning throughout the night-time. That's when he heard the system again.

DING! (Yes, it's louder this time.)

-Alert: Host has obtained multiple skills. System is unsure why. System is updating host's statistics sheet as soon as possible.-

A few moments passed, then it spoke again.

It was a lot to take in, but George figured it meant that he could have the system put him to sleep, like a tranquilizer or something.

And just like that, he was out for the night (thank god).

When George woke up, it was to a strange sound of clawing at the metallic cellar door. He was very confused, even as he groggily stirred to wake.

-System informs host that Possessor used own skill to properly maintain host's safety. As a result, host has synchronized skills: {Observant}, {Insomniac}, {Perceptive}, and {Alert} to create a new skill. New skill has promptly been named {Supernatural Awareness}. Host may rename it at their leisure. Host is hereby informed that skill {Supernatural Awareness} has picked up that host's current area of habitat is undergoing a raid. Raid participant is of the Ursine family, known as Ursus Americanus. The non-scientific name, as found by host's memories, is the "American Black Bear".-
