I Don’t Like to Be Kept Waiting VII

"Whose turn is it to go talk to our bro?" Lin Jinchen asked.

"It's Nianhua's turn," replied Lu Ran. At that, both Lin Jinchen and Lu Ran turned and looked expectantly at Su Nianhua.

Su Nianhua rubbed his nose and rose reluctantly to go to Tang Shi's office.

After a couple of turns outside the office, Su Nianhua still hadn't worked up the courage to knock on the door.

Observing him from the conference room, Lu Ran and Lin Jinchen got impatient and walked over. Lu Ran knocked on the door to Tang Shi's office, while Lin Jinchen grabbed Su Nianhua and pushed him toward the door. Lu Ran and Lin Jinchen then ran off quickly as they heard Tang Shi answer in an ice-cold voice, "Come in," from behind the door.

Left with no choice, Su Nianhua pushed the door open resignedly. However, instead of walking into the office, he just stuck his head in through the door and said, "Hey, Bro, it's getting late. Shall we go grab a bite to eat?"

Seated at his desk, Tang Shi heard what Su Nianhua had said and glanced at the clock displayed in the upper right corner of his screen, his fingers flying across the keyboard as he continued typing.

Faced with Tang Shi's indifference, Su Nianhua decided to continue talking. "Bro, Ran just mentioned that there's a new batch of girls at the Capital Club. Every single one of them is beautiful with a body to match. Oh, and they're all young and supple, the perfect age. Since we haven't gone out on the town for a while, why don't we go there tonight, eh?"

Tang Shi didn't appear to have heard Su Nianhua's rambling conversation as he leisurely finished typing his last line of English text and sent his e-mail. He then raised his head to look at Su Nianhua and, although his eyes radiated an icy aloofness, replied in a calm voice, "I have plans for tonight."

"Bro, you've not taken any time off to relax recently. Let's just forget about work for tonight." Su Nianhua paused briefly before joking, "Hey Bro, when was the last time you met up with that beauty from the Chinese Department at A-University? Shall I go pick her up and bring her over here to spend the night with you?"

Tang Shi said nothing.

Since he'd been a kid, Su Nianhua had been accustomed to Tang Shi's attitude of aloofness and arrogance, so he just continued talking, "Or, should I invite Lulu over? The movie that she's filming has just wrapped, so she should be free."

Still, Tang Shi said nothing.

"How about Linlin then?

"Or Annie? Zhang Na?"

After having listened to Su Nianhua rattling off the names of random women, Tang Shi eventually raised his head and looked steadily at him. Interpreting that glance as Tang Shi having agreed to his suggestions, Su Nianhua immediately pulled out his phone and prepared to make a call. The next instant, Tang Shi picked up a document and hurled it none too gently at Su Nianhua's head. "Scram!" he shouted.

Very quickly, Su Nianhua jumped two steps backward and dodged the document that had been hurled at him. Then he bent over, picked up the document, and scurried back to the conference room.
